Claas brand products are represented in several series on the grain harvesting equipment market. In the middle class, the company offers the high-performance Klaas Tucano 450 combine, which belongs to the premium segment. The model is suitable for working on fields of various types and sizes. In terms of characteristics, the Tucano series largely repeats the “older” Lexion series.
The German manufacturer Claas is one of the leaders in the agricultural machinery segment. The brand's factories are located in various European countries. Relatively recently, an enterprise collecting Claas products also opened in Russia. It produces ready-made combine harvesters (full cycle) and machine kits intended for Europe. All brand products are made from quality materials and meet advanced agrotechnical standards.
On the Russian market, the company's model range is represented by 2 forage harvesters and 3 grain harvesters, divided into modifications. Klaas Tucano 450 is a new model that combines the technologies of other brand products (working with a Medion series beater and a Mega series 2-drum threshing system). The standard equipment of the model includes multifunctional piping connections and a central fixation system, which ensures maximum operating comfort. For middle-class machines, the ability to work with Vario headers is usually not provided. Claas Tucano 450 is an exception in this regard. Another advantage of the model is the Auto Contour system (guiding the header), which is included in the basic package. By analogy with the Lexion series, the Klaas Tucano 450 combine is equipped with a header control unit with memory of operating parameters.
Free access to the adjustment mechanisms allows you to quickly reconfigure the machine for harvesting a specific crop, guaranteeing high operating efficiency. By enlarging the grain tank and fuel tank, the costs of unloading and additional refueling are reduced.
Claas Tucano 450 will be an excellent assistant for any agricultural enterprise. The combine does an excellent job of harvesting legumes, oilseeds and grain crops. The technical parameters of the model and the quality of processing are impressive, allowing us to clearly classify it as a leader in its segment.

The Dominator combine is a compact and reliable machine. The range of specialized Dominator harvesting equipment produced by the Klaas company includes several different models of combines and many subtypes of equipment modified from these models. All technical mechanisms and connecting working units of units are tested for wear resistance during production and have their own service life, which is determined by the established safety factor of the parts.
The productive capabilities of the Dominator combine are directly related to the type of reaping device. The header installed on such equipment ensures high-precision performance of technical operations with uniform distribution of plant mass feeds to the threshing mechanism. The head-lifting mechanisms of the unit are made of high-strength, spring metal. These working elements easily cope with fallen stems. The hydraulic cylinders are equipped with unloading springs, which are adjusted if necessary. Thanks to these adjustable elements, transport can accurately copy the relief arrangement of soil layers in the harvested field.

The fifth generation combine harvester of the Lexion line.

Design and service features
The Klaas Tucano 450 combine harvester combines many qualities characteristic of high-end equipment, which allows it to be classified as a premium segment. The machine is based on a durable frame. The chassis includes a reliable 2-speed transmission and all-wheel drive with traction increased by 30%, allowing you to move on waterlogged, sandy and difficult-to-pass soils.
Main operating elements of the combine:
- headers of various types (Standard, Cerio, Vario). The new junction between the feeder chamber and the header allows the combine to work even with large headers from the Lexion series. The ability to use several categories of headers, differing in performance, working width and cost, is a distinctive feature of the Claas Tucano family. This creates additional comfort when working and allows, if necessary, to increase the productivity of the machine. The Auto Contour soil contour following system increases harvesting efficiency;
- APS threshing system, including a ROTO PLUS key separator and a large diameter drum. The drum rotation speed reaches 1500 rpm (with the gearbox turned on, the figure decreases). The large area of the sieves allows for high-quality threshing. After passing through the threshing system, the straw is folded into windrows as the combine moves or moved into a chopper, after which it is distributed across the field in an even layer. With optimal system settings, threshing of industrial and grain crops is carried out with minimal losses;
- cleaning system. Final cleaning is carried out by direct-flow air flow supplied by a powerful fan with sieves with an area of 5.5 square meters and electronically controlled from the cabin;
- hopper capacity of 9000 l with a high-performance unloading auger (105 l/sec), allowing for quick unloading. Cleaned grain is dumped into the bunker. Compared to other middle-class machines, the hopper volume of the Claas Tucano 450 is very large;
- Special Cut chopper. Knives for working with straw were made 40 mm thicker. Due to this, they began to hold their position better, and the grinding efficiency increased. As options, the manufacturer offered a belt-driven spreader and electrically adjustable straw distributor deflector. Additions improved the quality of work.
The Klaas Tucano 450 combine is easy to operate thanks to the Cebis monitor and Lexion control lever. The lever handle fits comfortably in the hand and is used to select grain tank, header and automatic control functions. The control panel will be clear even for inexperienced operators, since it has clear key symbols and a convenient location of the main elements. The Claas Tucano series received the Cebis on-board system from the Claas Lexion models, where it showed its best side. The system is used to monitor the operation of equipment, process tasks and enter key settings for nodes. Optionally, the combine is equipped with electric adjustment of the sieves. The monitor in the Claas Tucano 450 combine is smaller than in the Claas Tucano series, but has more pleasant colors.
The cabin itself is distinguished by its large volume and has excellent noise and vibration insulation. The steering column and operator's seat are adjusted to suit the driver's size. The lighting equipment of the combine contains 10 H9 light sources with xenon lamps. Due to the high light output, good illumination of the work area is ensured regardless of the time of day. The standard equipment of the Claas Tucano 450 includes 2 work lights installed on the roof, 2 lights on the body, 2 lights on the mirror mounts, lamps on the screw conveyor, the derailment area and in the grain bin. 6 side view, maintenance and stubble lighting lamps are available as options.
Maintenance of the combine has been simplified. The grain tank and power plant have changed places in comparison with the Mega and Medion models, which led to a change in the drive concept (an extended belt became the main drive). For maintenance, this conversion meant less work. A retractable ladder provided access to a large platform from which the operator could reach required service points. A similar concept was used in the Lexion models.
There are practically no disadvantages to the Claas Tucano 450 equipment. The combine is distinguished by its reliability and high productivity. However, the operator is unlikely to be able to eliminate the failure or malfunction in the field. Another disadvantage is the high cost of service and spare parts. It is very difficult to obtain educational and reference information on the operation and maintenance of this model.
Combine harvester "Claas" Lexion 780
One of the latest developments of the Claas brand.
Its official presentation took place in 2013 - on its hundredth anniversary, it is ideal for large agricultural firms with large areas and high yields. Advantages:
- 4-link rear suspension;
- reduced turning radius due to the POWER TRAC chassis and large diameter wheels;
- powerful turbofan for better cleaning of debris and foreign impurities;
- combined wheeled and tracked drive;
- electronic control of the motor system;
- large cooling radiator area;
- hydraulic drive of the straw chopper;
- automatic “Cemos” unit, which responds faster to commands;
- 2-position gearbox.

Buying a used car for domestic consumers seems to be a more profitable investment. In the factory configuration, 2013-2014 models without mileage in Russia will cost 185,000-200,000 dollars, 2008-2009 models - 90,000-140,000 dollars.
