Carburetor adjustment

5. Turn the LA bolt at idle speed until the drive sprocket begins to rotate. Unscrew the bolt 45˚.
6. If the engine stops or the idle speed is unstable, rotate the bolt L, increasing the rotation speed and achieving stable operation.
7. By rotating the LA bolt, achieve the required idle rotation values.

How to assemble a starter on a chainsaw?

After replacing the faulty elements of the starter, it is time to reassemble it. In this case, maximum accuracy must be observed, since the slightest discrepancy can lead to breakdown of the trigger mechanism. Assembly of the unit must be performed in the following sequence:

Repairing a starter is not a difficult procedure if you follow the correct procedure. Typically, replacing the starter cord will take no more than 20 minutes. The main thing is to correctly position the pulley and drum in relation to each other. Otherwise, the trigger will not work.

Startup procedure

Algorithm of actions when starting the saw

1. Apply the handbrake by pressing the protective shield with your hand until it clicks.
2. Press the decompression valve, if provided in the model. This will make it easier to start the engine.
3. By pressing the gas buttons and the gas stopper on the handle, simultaneously move the mode control lever to the lower position.
4. Place the saw on a flat surface.
5. With your left hand, grasp the tubular handle, with your right hand, the starter handle. Insert the toe of your foot into the slot in the rear handle and press the saw to the surface with your body weight.
6. Smoothly pull the starter cable out by the handle until it stops. Then forcefully pull the starter handle up several times while pushing against the tubular handle.
   

   Do not pull the cable out to its full length - risk of explosion!

7. The engine will run for a short time and stop. Move the throttle by moving the mode lever up to the next detent.
8. Repeat step 6. If the engine turns on, you need to briefly press the gas control lever. This is necessary to ensure that the combination lever is locked in the idle position.
9. Release the brake by pulling the handle towards you until it clicks. The unit is ready for use.
10. To check the lubrication system, hold the saw over something light (snow, paper, cut of wood) and turn on the maximum gas. If the system is working properly, traces of oil stains will be visible.

On the original, the serial number is placed on the body in the muffler area and in some other places. Under the muffler there is a marking with the number and name of the brand country. Another sign of a fake is the hole that is located next to the drive sprocket. There is no such hole on the original product. You also need to look at the ignition system - Shtil does not produce spark plugs. Another difference is that the original has a dark gray case color, while the Chinese counterfeit is black. A copy is cheaper than the original, but in terms of quality, strength and durability it is much inferior to the branded product.

How to install a spring on a chainsaw starter?

1. The outer end of the spring used must be fixed in a special limiting projection. In this case, the second end will need to be installed with a screwdriver opposite the standard hole inside the lock;
2. Next, the loop located at the inner end of the standard spring should be aligned with the hole. For this it is better to use a screwdriver. When the ends are aligned, the disk will need to be lowered;
3. After installing the disk, you need to check that the pawl of the factory chainsaw ratchet mechanism is in its normal place. Then you can reassemble the ratchet in reverse order.

Maintenance and repair

The factory setting of the saw is carried out according to average values, therefore, during operation of the device, the set parameters require periodic adjustments. Adjusting the carburetor of the Shtil chainsaw must be carried out according to the rules; it is necessary to follow the sequence of setting the different modes of operation of the tool.

Adjustment is carried out after cleaning the filter and warming up the engine. The result of the adjustment is a rapid increase in speed in operating and idle modes. There should be no noise or smoke. If the tool is used incorrectly, repairs may be necessary.

New chainsaw won't start
