ZIL 433360 is a short-wheelbase flatbed modification of the ZIL 431410 model. The ZIL 4331 family dates back to the early 1980s. It includes several dozen serial versions designed for specific target applications. ZIL 433360 represents this family and is the successor to the ZIL 130.

The design of a medium-sized car with a short wheelbase was carried out by specialists from the AMO design bureau of the Likhachev plant. The model was introduced in 1994 and was intended for transporting various cargoes using single vehicles or as part of a road train. The main advantages of the ZIL 4331 were its simplicity of design and the ability to travel on any type of road. The car platform was made of wood; additionally, folding sides made of wood or metal were installed. Production of the model ended in 2010.

Engine

Initially, ZIL 433360 was equipped with a 4-stroke carburetor unit ZIL-508.10. The V-shaped overhead valve “eight” ran on gasoline and provided excellent traction. The engine had a closed liquid cooling system with forced circulation, a power supply system with forced fuel supply, and a mixed lubrication system (pressure and splash).


Characteristics of the ZIL-508.10 motor:

The average fuel consumption of the car (speed 60 km/h) was 36 l/100 km. Fuel tank capacity – 175 l. Without refueling, the car could travel 450-690 km.

Later, the ZIL 433360 began to be equipped with an improved carburetor gasoline engine ZIL 508300 with a V-shaped layout. The main difference was the new K-96 carburetor with electronic control. Fuel consumption has also been reduced to 30 l/100 km.

Device

The ZIL 433360 is based on a durable frame, which bears the entire load from the installed units. This is the only element of this car that will not require replacement throughout its entire service life. The supporting base includes the following elements: 5 connecting crossbars stamped from steel, riveted joints and frame spars made in the format of all-stamped beams with a channel section of variable height. Brackets are installed on beams and side members for mounting suspensions, assemblies and other elements. The first beam contains areas for installing the engine.

ZIL 433360 has a 4 by 2 wheel arrangement. The direction of movement is regulated by turning the front wheels (the drive is on the rear wheels). In the basic configuration, the model has 7 disc-type wheels (2 front wheels, 2 double rear wheels, 1 spare wheel). The discs are secured to the axle flanges using 8 studs. The car uses dependent front and rear suspension, which is due to the use of rigid beams. The suspensions are connected to the frame side members by means of semi-elliptical springs that perform a guiding function. The rear springs are reinforced with additional leaves, the front ones are equipped with telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers.

The transmission of force from the engine is carried out using a clutch, which is part of the transmission. ZIL 433360 works with a standard dry single-plate friction clutch. The transmission used is a 5-speed manual gearbox (5 forward gears, 1 reverse gear). With a relatively simple design, the gearbox guarantees high operating efficiency. The cardan transmission is represented by a pair of shafts with a serial connection and an intermediate mounting support. To connect the gearbox, drive axle and shafts, articulated crosspieces and a sliding spline are used. Completing the drivetrain is a single-stage hypoid axle with final drive.

To brake and hold the vehicle, a combined braking system with the main transmission and drum wheel brakes is used. The system is controlled via a 3-circuit circuit consisting of:

  • service brakes with pneumatic control, 2 separate hydraulic circuits and independent brake chambers;
  • a parking brake with spring energy accumulators and a spare brake.

The ZIL 433360 model is equipped with an ABS anti-lock braking system to reduce the risk of skidding on slippery roads. At the rear there is the possibility of installing a combination valve to control the trailer braking system.

During engine operation, the G130 generator acts as a source of energy for electrical appliances. The car is standardly equipped with a 6-ST-78 (6-ST-81) battery with a capacity of 78 (81) Ah.

ZIL 433360 is equipped with an all-metal cabin with a welded rigid structure and panoramic glazing. The salon is designed for 3 people, including the driver. The design of the cabin assumes the presence of external elements (tails) to protect the elements and parts of the machine. On the sides of the cabin there are doors with roll-down glass and a rotating window. The driver's seat is equipped with a spring mechanism and settings for backrest tilt and longitudinal position. The seat for passengers is 2-seater without adjustments. The controls are installed to ensure maximum convenience. The steering wheel is located almost perpendicular to the vertical of the car, which reduces fatigue, the transmission lever is located on the right front slightly above the level of the chair at a comfortable height.

The steering mechanism is equipped with hydraulic power assist, making it easier to turn. The cabin has an internal lighting system, a heating stove and a forced ventilation system. Compared to previous models, the level of vibration and noise insulation has been increased.
