The UMZ-5DU-B model is distinguished by the fact that its gearbox is single-stage and its gear ratio is 1 to 6, and a ratchet is not installed on the gearbox shaft.
As an alternative to Ural engines, if there is a need to replace them, they often choose imported Chinese products (Lifan).
Lifan was founded in the early 90s of the twentieth century and today is one of our most famous large companies in the automotive market. In addition to engines, Lifan also produces other motor vehicles that have an optimal price-quality ratio. The products are certified, and each product must be accompanied by a technical passport and operating instructions.
Lifan presents different types of engines on the Russian market. One of the most important characteristics when choosing an engine is the mounting dimensions, since they do not always comply with Russian standards.
Another important characteristic is engine power, since in most cases Lifan engines have 6.5 liters. With. versus 5 l. With. at Ural.
The actual disassembly is not particularly difficult and can be completed in a couple of steps even by a specialist with little or no experience.
- The old engine is removed from the mounting connectors using standard open-end wrenches.
- First, disconnect the fuel and oil lines, if present.
- Next, remove the centrifugal regulator.

Lugs for walk-behind tractor

The Salute is powered by a high-quality 6.5 hp Briggs & Stratton Vanguard OHV four-stroke gasoline engine, which is specifically designed for installation in garden equipment.

The American company Briggs & Stratton ensures sufficiently high precision in the manufacture of engine parts, so the break-in process at idle is completely ineffective.
In the engine operating instructions, the company gives only a few simple recommendations:
- Change the oil after the first 5-8 hours of engine operation, which is the break-in period.
- Gasoline should be used clean, without added oil, with an octane number above 77; the Briggs & Stratton additive ensures more stable engine operation.
- SJ/CF oil is used at different temperatures. At subzero temperatures, according to the instructions, it is recommended to use synthetic oil or non-synthetic 10W-30 article number 998208. Please note that at temperatures above 4°C, when using 5W-30, 10W-30 oils, consumption increases significantly, so you will have to constantly monitor its level.
The recently appeared Briggs series with the EXI marking does not require oil changes at all throughout the entire period of operation, which is explained precisely by the high precision of engine assembly.
