Tractor T-90. Overview, characteristics, application and operation features

Model production

The T-90 tractor is a development of the Pavlodar Tractor Plant. The company began its activities in 1966, and in 1968 a tractor model, the predecessor of the T-90, was released. This model was the DT-75 tractor. Until now, few farmers can accurately describe the T-90 model and confuse it with the DT-75. Some sources mention that the T-90 is a more advanced version of the DT-75.

Tractor T-90

Tracked models enjoyed deserved popularity many decades ago, and they are still popular today. The T-90 belongs to the 3-ton towing class. This means that the tractor is able to move and transport on trailed units a total weight of up to 3000 kg.

An interesting historical fact: under the T-90 brand, a battle tank is produced in Russia, which has a second official name “Vladimir”. The designer of the tank is Russian Vladimir Ivanovich Potkin. It is characteristic that in tank building a model called T-90 is also very common - it is a tank fire control system, modernized and supplemented by Russian engineers and designers.

Maintenance

Oil M-10G2k

A special feature of the engine of the T-90 caterpillar tractor is that a mixture of diesel and oil in a ratio of 1:20 is used as fuel. The fuel must be clean and highly purified, and the oil must be used with classification M-10G2. At the end of field work, the T-90 tractor should be mothballed.

Important! After conservation, the tractor must be hidden in a dry place.

Preservation includes: cleaning the tractor from dirt, lubricating parts with oil to prevent corrosion from forming, draining the fuel.

Basic malfunctions and ways to solve them

Each owner of a T-90 tractor should know how to correct minor faults; if more serious breakdowns occur, it is recommended to contact a specialized service center.

Here's what could cause the engine to not start:

  • Diesel shortage;
  • Lack of lubricant;
  • Air entering the fuel system;
  • Fuel system malfunction;
  • Failure of the ignition system.

Here are the possible reasons why the motor does not develop the required power:

  • No full fuel supply;
  • The fuel or air filter is clogged;
  • Injector malfunction;
  • Incorrect fuel supply angle.

Available modifications

One of the T-90 modifications is the T-90S tractor. The model is experimental; this machine is not widely used. Its exact copies of the decorative sample are available for purchase. The design of the T-90s is in many ways similar to the T-70s tractor model.

Another modification of the T-90 is the tracked model T-90P. In our article you can watch a video dedicated to the modification of the T-90P.

The photo below shows a smaller exact copy of the T-90 model and its comparison of the model with the T-70S.

A more modern modification of the T-90 was the T-95 (95.4) tractor, also produced by the Pavlodar Tractor Plant. The model belongs to the 4-ton towing class and has greater traction and load capacity than the T-90. The car is out of production.

Tractor T-95

Currently, only rare examples of the T-90 in working condition can be found, mainly in private farms or former state utilities. The modern “follower” of the T-90 is the T-150.

Differences between Agromash 90TG and DT-75

The new product basically repeats the most characteristic features of the DT-75 tractor. However, in construction and design the Agromash 90TG tractor differs from its predecessor:

  • the use of more modern composite materials;
  • the presence of a more advanced engine;
  • more comfortable and safe frame cabin;
  • fiberglass hinged hood;
  • mandatory participation in the configuration of removable front ballast weights (DT-75 was equipped with them only by special order);
  • location of the muffler and exhaust pipe on the front pillars of the cab;
  • in a different color: blue and white with orange accents (instead of the usual red). However, there are also blue modifications.

Components for attachments that can be installed on the Agromash 90TG tractor are still manufactured taking into account the dimensions and seats of the DT-75 tractor, therefore, when installing on a new tractor, the equipment must be modified.

Purpose of the T-90 tractor

In the 60s and subsequent years, the T-90 was used mainly for the following purposes:

  • agricultural activities;
  • all types of work with soil;
  • cargo transportation;
  • sowing crops;
  • harvesting;
  • mowing grass;
  • soil leveling;
  • snow retention;
  • reclamation works;
  • Men at work.

T-16M

The T-16M was produced from 1967 to 1995. The minimum speed of the T-16M “chassis” in transmission through the creeper was only 1.6 km/h, which made it practically irreplaceable both in agriculture and in municipal or road construction work. At the front of the chassis frame there are mounting points for installing various additional equipment: a cargo platform-dump truck; different types of loaders; chain saws; a grader shovel and a road brush installed under the frame, a hay mower (pictured) and other things.

Specifications

The T-90 was not widely used and is now considered a rare model. The technical characteristics of the car are quite impressive. Main features: low speed, even at maximum; high engine life; high power.

Dimensions and weight

  • The weight of the unit is 6565 kg. without attachments.
  • The overall dimensions of the T-90 are: 4660x1740x3036 (LWH in mm).

Engine

The T-90 tractor is equipped with a D-440-21 diesel engine. The engine is four-cylinder, the cooling system is water type. There is a turbocharger and a muffler, which reduces exhaust noise and reduces the harmful effects on the operator’s hearing. Motor power 70 hp. (95 kW). The number of PTO revolutions per minute is 1000 times.

checkpoint

The tractor is equipped with a seven-speed manual transmission. Rear PTO, single speed. The maximum forward speed is 11 km/h, and the maximum reverse speed is 4.5 km/h. It is this speed range that makes the T-90 most convenient for agricultural manipulations. The chassis contains a balancer suspension. The track links are of solid cast type, the material of the links is manganese steel.

Cabin

The operator's cabin on the T-90 is a two-seater type. To increase driver safety, the cabin was equipped with a metal frame. Cabin features include sound insulation, high-quality panoramic glazing, good visibility for the driver, soft interior lining, heating system, air cooling system (by evaporation), glass washers, and an additional seat for a second passenger. The operator's seat is adjustable depending on the driver's height.

Unit control

Control was carried out by the operator using control levers and a steering wheel. The front panel, located in front of the driver, was equipped with fuel sensors. Also in the cabin there were gear shift levers. The start of movement was carried out by activating the starting engine, and then by automatically activating the diesel engine.

Full list of modifications of the BT-90 crawler tractor

The list of all modifications of the BT-90 tractor is quite an impressive list, in which the cost of a particular model depends on the configuration of the vehicle with additional equipment: creeper, reverse gearbox, rear hydraulic linkage system, fixed dozer blade (BNDT), rotary blade (BPDT), hydraulically tilted blade (BEET).

Transmission

The VT-90 tractor is equipped with a seven-speed mechanical gearbox with moving gears and a dry double-disc clutch, and thanks to a planetary turning mechanism with pneumatic servo, transport stability is ensured. Number of gears: forward – 7 (with HUMM – 23, RR – 14), reverse – 1 (with HUMM – 5, RR – 7). The travel mechanism is track-type chains, the width of which is 390 mm.

Operator's cabin

Among all the innovations of the VT-90 tractor, it is worth mentioning separately the modernization that also affected the cabin, which has a frame structure: firstly, it has become more conveniently localized and has a greater degree of glazing, which provides maximum external visibility. Secondly, the cabin is equipped with windshield wipers and headlights: 4 in the front of the tractor, 2 in the rear, thanks to which excellent illumination is achieved even in poor visibility conditions. Thirdly, an equipped passenger seat and another door were added.
