Short description
The new GAZ Sadko NEXT is an all-wheel drive (4×4) truck with a YaMZ-534 diesel engine, a 3.5-meter long flatbed with roll bars and an awning, and a new-style cab. The Sadko-Next received its cab, engine, gearbox, steering gear and suspension from the GAZon-Next medium-duty truck, and from its predecessor (GAZ-3308 “Sadko”), after modernization, it received a reinforced frame, axles with new steering knuckles, and wheels with upgraded rims and new tires with increased load-bearing capacity. Under the hood is a 4.4-liter YaMZ-534 turbodiesel (148.9 hp) Euro 5 standard paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Gear shifting is carried out using a convenient joystick on the instrument panel. The standard cabin design is 3-seater. The release of an extended version of Sadko-Next (wheelbase 4515 mm) with a 7-seater double-row cabin is planned for 2022. Sadko-Next adopted a design from its ancestors that has repeatedly confirmed its unique cross-country ability and at the same time turned into a modern car with a comfortable and functional driver’s workplace.
Sports achievements of Sadko Next
Sadko's new all-wheel drive Next truck took part in the Great Steppe rally, which ran from the capital of Kalmykia, Elista, to the city of Astrakhan, where it showed pretty good results.
The SUV was also tested in the Africa Eco-rage 2022 rally. Sadko Next competed with Sobol 4 by 4. Both cars showed themselves to be quite “tenacious” cars, capable of overcoming any off-road conditions.
A representative present at the rally noted that these competitions are a test of the engineering and technological solutions that the plant invests in cars.
“As a result of such sporting competitions, it became clear to us that we should use air suspension on our cars,” noted the head of Gas Raid Sport, Mikhail Shklyaev. – We are now installing air suspension on our Sadko Next off-road trucks. We had problems with the car's gearbox, which could not withstand the increased torque as the engine power increased. Then we decided to replace the bearings, and now we have the necessary reserve of “gearbox strength”. In last year's competition, our production vehicles generally became the best among trucks with an engine capacity of less than ten liters.
According to the results of the races, the guys who competed on Sadko Next took 9th and 11th places among off-road trucks, which is certainly a good indicator.
By the way, according to GAZ representatives, the YaMZ-534 engines that power Sadko Next were once installed on racing cars.
— These engines never overheated or failed. Cars with such engines have always been successful. In their class, these are truly the best engines in the world, says the official representative of the Gas Raid Sport team, Mikhail Shklyaev. – Thanks to these engines, our trucks were able to compete with SUVs that have an engine of a thousand horsepower, and compete at the most worthy level! today makes world-class cars. You can easily make racing cars out of them and always win.
Race participants noted that Sadko's Next 4 by 4 SUV proved to be one of the best SUVs on the planet.

Distinctive characteristics
The prototype of the Sadko Next model was the GAZ-3308 truck, created in 1964. From him the new all-terrain vehicle received the frame, axle and wheels.
The car was created on the already known Sadko chassis. The cabin is from the GAZon Next model. Only one change is noticeable: the side turn signals have been moved to the top of the wings. Also, unlike Lawn Next, the bumper on Sadko Next is not double.
From GAZon Next, the new truck also received a YaMZ-534 engine, developed with the support of the Austrian engineering brand AVL, as well as a suspension and a five-speed gearbox.
The Sadko Next model is equipped with an onboard platform with a folding awning. The back board is made of wood, the side boards are metal.
The interior of the car is identical to the interior of previous models, in particular, the GAZon Next. But there is one significant difference: instead of a “poker” for changing gears, the new Sadko Next has a convenient joystick. The same one is on the Gazelle.
Inside the car there are three comfortable passenger seats.
