Mini tractor Belarus - MTZ 132n: characteristics, models, equipment

The Minsk Tractor Plant, which has gained wide popularity due to its agricultural products, also carries out mass production of compact machines for universal purposes. One of the first machines was the MTZ-112 minitractor, which later served as the basis for the more modernized MTZ-132N model. And now we will talk about the latter. Due to the great demand for this equipment, the manufacturer has developed two modifications that differ in the installed power plants. Despite the fact that different engines are used, their power indicators are completely the same, and the main factor in purchasing this or that modification is only the convenience and personal preferences of the consumer.

This tractor is based on an articulated frame, similar in design to large front loaders. This solution was chosen for a reason, since the simultaneous rotation of both parts of the machine structure provides quite excellent maneuverability, necessary for working in conditions with limited working space. But there is also a downside here, namely, in some cases, such a design does not have a very positive effect on cross-country ability and convenience, however, this is easily compensated for by other features of the MTZ-132N minitractor, which, by the way, are sufficient.

  • Purpose

    The MTZ-132N minitractor is intended for work on small plots of land, since the use of this model on large areas is not entirely reasonable. Processing a small area will take a very short time, which has ensured great popularity in gardens. Let's take a closer look at each area of application of this model:

    Private farm. This includes farms, vegetable gardens, livestock farming and horticulture. a mini tractor is capable of performing a fairly wide range of different tasks, including plowing light soils; treatment of the fertile soil layer; cultivation; harrowing; pre-sowing tillage; sowing of grain and vegetable crops; planting onions, garlic, beets, potatoes and other similar crops; hilling up beds; row spacing treatment; introducing mineral and other fertilizers into the soil; watering; harvesting; transportation; mowing any vegetation; garbage collection. In livestock farming, MTZ-132N also provides considerable assistance in preparing feed, mowing and transporting hay, cleaning certain areas and much more. In gardening, equipment has a rather narrow focus, since it is used only for spraying vegetation, mowing lawns, and also for carrying out cargo transportation work. Due to its relatively small overall dimensions, this mini tractor is often used in greenhouses and greenhouse complexes.

    Utilities. In this area, a mini tractor removes snow, debris and cleans any areas of various contaminants. The machine can be used in street areas, parking lots, industrial and private courtyards, hard-to-reach urban areas and other similar areas.

    History of creation

    Today, the Belarus 132N mini tractor is produced in the Republic of Belarus. It is functionally designed to work on farms, in personal plots, in greenhouses and in large garden and berry areas.

    When working on the land, the main condition is the presence of light soils, which he is able to plow, harrow and cultivate. In addition, it is used when processing potato and beet fields, as well as for adding fertilizers and during haymaking.

    According to experts, due to its small size and high engine power, it is convenient to use it as a drive for various stationary units, such as woodworking machines and sawmills, as well as pumping stations.

    The base vehicle for the MTZ-132N was a mini-tractor with the MTZ-082 index, which was produced from 1978 to 1986 in Minsk with an SK-12 engine. This internal combustion engine was manufactured in Petropavlovsk at a plant where tractor engines were produced.

    In 1982, at an aggregate plant located in the Belarusian city of Smorgon, they began producing an improved modification of this tractor under the MTZ-112 brand. Since the early nineties, this enterprise has been producing a modern modification of the Minsk Tractor 132N mini-tractor.

    Important! This car was initially equipped with a Japanese engine produced by HONDA - GX390. The tractor unit with this engine is marked “Belarus” 132N-01.

    Later, the production of Belarus 132N-02 tractors was mastered, on which the Lifan LF188FD internal combustion engine was mounted. In fact, this is an analogue of the GX390 engine unit. But nevertheless, Chinese manufacturers position their products as their own design.

    Belarus 132N-03 was produced in small quantities with a B&S engine unit, which had a plastic lining.

    Attachments

    The MTZ-132N minitractor is equipped with a special linkage device, an independent power take-off shaft, as well as a hydraulic system. These elements are a necessary part in almost all types of special equipment, since the versatility and functionality of the machine depend on them. Due to all this, the mini tractor can be aggregated with the following types of additional attachments:

    1. Potato digger.
    2. Potato planter.
    3. Single-body hiller.
    4. Multi-body hiller.
    5. Cultivator-hiller.
    6. Cultivator.
    7. Mechanical seeder.
    8. Mechanical grain seeder.

    11. Multi-furrow plow.
    12. Sprayer.
    13. Hay mower.
    14. Lawnmower.
    15. Front blade.

    The peculiarity of any mini tractor is that in addition to special tractor equipment, the equipment can be equipped with walk-behind tractor units. Firstly, this is due to similar connections of the units. Secondly, the power of a mini tractor is not much greater than the power of a walk-behind tractor. And thirdly, such equipment is located in the gap between walk-behind tractors and conventional agricultural tractors.

    Device Features

    The MTZ-132N minitractor is equipped as standard with a single-cylinder gasoline power plant developed by the famous Japanese manufacturer Honda. The engine is manufactured under the designation GX390. It should be noted that the numbers in the index indicate the engine displacement, which in this case is 390 cubic meters. The motor is capable of developing a rated output power of 13 horsepower, which translates to 9.6 kilowatts.

    As was described at the very beginning, the manufacturer presented two modernized versions of this mini tractor. So, in one of them a power unit from the manufacturer Lifan is installed. The engine has the index LF188FD and practically indistinguishable power indicators.

    But the modernization of the MTZ-132N minitractor did not end there. Later, a line of models with two-cylinder engines with the B&S index was demonstrated. This motor has a significant superiority in power, as it is capable of developing 16 horsepower or 11.7 kilowatts. But it is worth noting that these versions went on sale only in a limited quantity and at present it is quite problematic to find new equipment.

    In any configuration and in any version, the MTZ-132N model is equipped with a mechanical transmission system. The gearbox has four forward gears and three reverse gears. The front axle was additionally equipped with a locking differential, which ensured increased maneuverability of the minitractor on various types of soil, including sticky and loose soils. Moreover, the locking has a positive effect on working with heavy attachments. It should be noted that this function does not work automatically and to enable it, you must move the control lever located on the dashboard to the appropriate position. Disabling the blocking occurs in exactly the same way.

    The on-board hydraulic system of the MTZ-132N minitractor has a gear hydraulic pump, the operation of which is carried out through special drives from the machine’s engine. There is also a single-section hydraulic spool-valve distributor and one hydraulic cylinder. Among the additional equipment that can be installed on a mini tractor at the request of the consumer, the most popular is the front linkage mechanism, which allows the installation of many front-mounted units.

    The mini tractor has an all-wheel drive system, which also provides high cross-country ability. It is worth noting that here the all-wheel drive is not permanent, which means disabling the front axle. Among its class, the Belarus-132N model stands out thanks to its articulated frame, which provides excellent maneuverability.

    Reliability

    Despite the fact that the design of the mini tractor seems weak and unreliable at first glance, this element can easily withstand quite serious loads. This has already been proven many times, since mass production of the MTZ-132N minitractor began in the early 1990s. The model’s power plant can operate properly at sub-zero temperatures, which makes it possible to use the equipment when clearing snow. The engine is also quite resistant to weather influences, but still operation in rainy weather will seem completely uncomfortable.

    Repair features

    Traditionally for any special equipment of the Minsk Tractor Plant, this model has a fairly high level of maintainability, which is primarily explained by the wide distribution of spare parts and consumables (filter elements and working fluids), as well as the affordable cost of them. On the other hand, the minitractor has a simple design, which allows you to eliminate almost any malfunction in a fairly short time. Due to the fact that the equipment was developed on the basis of the 112th model, most of the design elements can be taken from the base model.

    User manual

    This document is a reference book for every owner of MTZ mini tractors. It provides basic information regarding the technical characteristics of Belarus, its design, the purpose of levers, rules for maintenance and repair of major faults.

    Service

    Before each departure, it is necessary to visually check the integrity of the minitractor. If any deformations of the body or parts appear, they must be corrected. In addition, be sure to ensure the availability of fuel and lubricant.

    Before operation, be sure to ensure that the clutch, brake system, steering and lighting (if necessary) are in good working order.

    Engine oil must be changed every 50 hours of operation of MTZ mini tractors. As fresh oil in the summer, it is necessary to use M-10DM, and in the winter, M-10B. Before replacing, it is necessary to warm up the engine. Thanks to this, the oil will become more liquid and will leave the crankcase faster.

    Engine oil M-10DM Engine oil M-8DM Oil TAD-17I

    Transmission oil only needs to be changed once a year or every 1000 operating hours. The operating instructions recommend using the time-tested Tap-15V or TAd-17i.

    If the MTZ mini tractor is gasoline, then it is necessary to use AI-80 or AI-92 fuel. In this case, the fuel must be fresh and free of foreign impurities.

    Start-up and running-in

    Before you begin assembly, you must read the operating instructions. It contains drawings and assembly plans.

    Afterwards, pour oil and gasoline into the appropriate compartments. Because they don't come from the factory.

    For the first 8 hours, Belarus must work in run-in mode. During this period of time, it is not allowed to put heavy loads on the motor.

    Minitractor Belarus MTZ 132N

    It is recommended to carry out the run-in with an empty trailer or use cutters with minimal immersion (up to 5 cm). During this time, the engine parts will be lubricated and fit securely into the grooves. Upon completion of the break-in, it is necessary to change the engine oil.

    If you do not plan to use the MTZ mini tractor for more than 2 months, then it must be mothballed.

    To do this, you should put the device in the garage (or any other room protected from sunlight and precipitation), drain the gasoline and oil (during this time they will gain moisture and become unusable), and also lubricate the gear shift levers (so that during idle time they didn't jam). It is better to disconnect the spark plugs during preservation so that the contacts do not oxidize.

    Basic faults and repairs

    The instructions for using Belarus mini tractors provide ways to solve the main problems. And every MTZ owner should know them.

    If the clutch does not transmit torque:

    • There is no free play of the pedal (it needs to be adjusted);
    • The drive discs are worn out or have oil stains (they need to be replaced or cleaned);
    • The discs on the splines are jamming (you should check their position and, if necessary, remove the jamming).

    If the attachment does not lift:

    • The oil level in the hydraulic system has dropped below the minimum mark (add oil);
    • The hydraulic pump is turned off (turn it on);
    • The hydraulic safety valve is stuck (disassemble and clean the valve).

    If the braking of the MTZ mini tractor is not effective:

    • The free play of the pedal has increased (adjust its position);
    • The brake disc or pad is worn out (replace the relevant parts).

    If the transmission overheats:

    • Small gear or bearing clearance (adjust);
    • Lack of oil or its low quality (add oil that is suitable for this model to the required level);

    If the starter does not work:

    • Broken or poor contact of the wire (solder or connect it);
    • Weak battery charge (charge it);
    • Short circuit (clean the commutator surface or replace the brushes);
    • Poor contact of the magnetic switch (tighten the switch travel by 2-3 turns).

    Price

    The MTZ-132N minitractor without mileage can now be found in the price range from 160 thousand rubles to 180 thousand Russian rubles.

    A used car is usually much cheaper, but its value is largely influenced by its overall technical condition. The cheapest samples may require additional financial investments to bring the equipment into fully operational condition. On average, the cost of technically acceptable units starts from 90 thousand rubles and up to 140 thousand Russian rubles.

    Owner reviews

    • The MTZ-132N minitractor was purchased to work in my personal garden, but in my free time I also use the machine on neighboring plots as additional income. The machine performed well with the plow. Weak soil can be handled without any particular difficulties, but with heavy soil you still have to tinker. The model is quite inexpensive to maintain and is also inexpensive to operate.
    • At the site, this tractor caused only positive impressions. The garden is quite large, but the technology made it possible to complete all the work in just one day. True, many different devices were involved. I’m quite pleased with the equipment, and I don’t even think about a possible sale.
