We present to your attention a new project by Victor Miller: a homemade all-wheel drive mini tractor.
The homemade product is equipped with a Lifan gasoline engine with a power of 6.5 hp, a fracture-type frame with a rotating unit from a VAZ hub, and Zhiguli axles (without blocking).
Below is a photo of the step-by-step construction of a homemade mini tractor.
First of all, I assembled the front half-frame from a channel and installed the axle.

The VAZ bridge has been shortened.
I made a mount for the 5 mortar gearbox. I immediately welded a small star from Izh to the soft connection.
I made a mount for the Lifan 6.5 hp engine.
Designed tension rollers for the chain and belt. Well, I installed the support bearings.
Belt clutch.
I shortened the bridge for the second half-frame. The axle shafts were shortened by 23 cm. The track turned out to be 83 cm.
I assembled the second semi-frame of the mini tractor and connected it into one. Swivel unit from the hub of a VAZ 07.
I made a steering wheel. The bipod on the hub had to be bent in the opposite direction and down a little so that the steering linkage would not touch the frame.
Installed the brake system. For now, the brakes will be on the rear wheels. GTZ from VAZ - 2109.
Installed a second chain tensioner. One tensioner could not cope with heavy loads. At 1.2 speeds it runs normally, but at 3,4,5 and reverse speeds the chain skips and falls off.
I made a hitch.
I thought one belt would not be enough, it would slip. Practice has shown that it is possible to drive on one belt, because many walk-behind tractors plow gardens with only one belt and with a maximum load.
All-wheel drive works great; with rear-wheel drive it would have been stuck a long time ago. Well, in general, I am pleased with the result of my work! It turned out to be an excellent DIY mini tractor.

- Drawings. The absence of such diagrams will not allow the structure to be assembled correctly. It indicates all dimensions, sequence of actions and number of parts. The drawings should always be available so that, if necessary, they can be consulted for effective assembly of the contraction.
- Tools represented by a grinder, a drill and a welding machine.
In addition, during the assembly process you need to be as focused and attentive as possible. Every nut or bolt must be tightly tightened, and all welding seams must be thoroughly cleaned. Crawler homemade mini tractors by their design consist of the following parts:
- Frame. To assemble this element you will need several spars and traverses.
- Engine. It is recommended to use diesel options with a power of 12 hp, but there are no restrictions in this regard. It is important to have torque, as well as a sufficient level of traction.
- Bridge. It is best to use for this purpose a bridge taken from an old car, which can only be shortened.
- Caterpillars. Here it is important to take 4 wheels and a pair of tracks from an old tractor or other unit.
- Transmission. The best option would be a model taken from the GAZ-53.
The clutch can be borrowed from GAZ-53 cars.
The main difficulties in the assembly process lie in the need to adjust all the parts. In some cases, some of them will need to be redone. Because of this, it is recommended to adhere to the following sequence:
- First, assemble the frame and mount the supports for the rollers on it.
- Install the power unit and gearbox along with the clutch.
- Next install the brakes and differential.
- Now you need to mount the control parts and arrange the operator’s position.
- After this, the tracks are installed and adjusted.
- All additional elements are installed.
- At the end, it is necessary to test all components and assemblies for operability.
