Ensuring ease of control of the car initially depends on what tires are chosen for the Gazelle. In order to assess the advantages of a particular brand of tires and make appropriate recommendations for novice drivers of GAZ cars, it is necessary to consider the options that exist on the market and the preferences of experienced car owners.
Summer tires on a Gazelle car
What tire sizes does the manufacturer recommend to install?
The tire size depends on many factors: wheel formula, year of manufacture, engine modification. A relatively old model is the GAZ-2705. It has a 4×2 wheel arrangement. Hub diameter – 130 mm. Standard wheel parameters:
- tire modification – 185/75 16C;
- disk size – 5.5J×16 ET106;
- drilling – 6×170 mm.
For vehicles with a 4×4 wheel arrangement, the tire size is slightly different. The width of the “sole” should be slightly larger. This is a prerequisite for normal contact between the wheel and the road. Standard wheels for a GAZ-3221 car with a 4×2 wheel arrangement:
- hub diameter – 130 mm;
- type of disk used – 5.5J×16 ET106;
- tire – 195/75 mm.
There are 7 different versions of the GAZelle car. The latest modification is a machine labeled Next. It has a 4×2 wheel arrangement and the following main characteristics:
- tire – 185/75 mm;
- disk – 5.5J×16 ET106;
- drilling – 6×170 mm.
Using wheels that meet standard parameters will make the car more controllable and avoid premature wear of chassis parts. There are many different subtleties and features of choosing wheels. If you do not have sufficient experience, you should use the help of specialists.
“GAZelle” and “GAZelle-Next”: is there a difference in wheel installation
It is known that several cars are hiding under the name “Gazelle”. These are the all-metal GAZ-2705, the flatbed GAZ-3302 and the minibus GAZ-3221. All varieties of these cars can have the same wheels with the standard sizes indicated above.
Wheels on the GAZelle 185 75 R16C are also installed on all Next varieties. This includes all onboard modifications, variants and frame buses.
The same picture applies to disks. The only caveat: with the advent of the GAZelle-Next version, the standard wheels were modified, and now all variants are equipped with reinforced parts originally developed for Next.

On the Gazelle-3302 car, wheels (tires for the gazelle) 51/2Jx16H2 are installed with a non-separable deep rim, with a disk having ventilation (manual) windows. To ensure stable holding of the tire breakers, the edges of the wheel rim have hemispherical protrusions (chumps), which protect the tire from lateral displacement. A tire 175R16C and 185/75R16C is mounted on the wheel rim - for Gazelle-3302 type 4x2 vehicles (K-156; K-170 BARGUZIN (Barguzin); VS-22; VL-54; KAMA-301; KAMA-218; I-462 MEDVED (Bear); K-135; for cars Gazelle-3302 (all-wheel drive) type 4x4 - 195R16C (K-139); for cars Gazelle-3302 Sobol-2217 type 2x2 - 215/65R16 or 185/75R16C (K-181 BARGUZIN (Barguzin); K-196 winter M+S Seven Hills (Seven Hills).
The design of the wheel rim allows the use of gazelle tires in both tube and tubeless versions. The Gas-3310 vehicle uses the all-season tubeless tire K-166A 215/75R17.5. The ZIL 5301 BYCHOK uses the KAMA-218 tire; KAMA I-359 or K-152. On GAZ-53 cars and PAZ buses, U-2 8.25R20 tires with a tube and 6.7-20 rim tape (flipper) are used. Hyundai Porter light trucks (Hyundai, Hyundai Porter) use the K-197 Cobra tire; Mercedes Sprinter and Volkswagen Transporter minibuses use the K-192 tire. For the convenience of checking air pressure and inflating tires, the Gazelle-3302 has rear inner wheels. installation of extension 2 valves (Fig. 1) - for Gazelle-3302 vehicles with dual-slope rear wheels.

Choosing tires for Gazelle-3302
For light trucks Gazelle-3302 Gazelle, Sobol-2217-2310 and Gazelle-33023 light truck tires (tube and tubeless) are purchased. On the market you can easily find tires for Gazelle-3302, Sobol-2217, Gazelle-33023 and Gas-3310 from domestic and foreign manufacturers. Due to the large assortment of tires on the market, it can be difficult to figure out and choose the right tire model for the Gazelle-3302. We will make a short review, which we hope will help you decide and make the right choice. Tires (rubber) for Gazelle-3302 must have a size of 175/80R16C or 185/75 R16C, the following sizes are also acceptable: 175R16C or 185R16C. The tires (rubber) on the Gazelle-3302 may well be slightly wider than usually recommended - 195 mm and even 205 mm. Therefore, light truck tires designed for the Sobol-2217 car will fit perfectly on the Gazelle-3302.
If the rear tires on the Gazelle-3302 are single-pitch, then the load capacity index of the single-pitch wheels should be in the range from 98 to 104, if the rear wheels are dual-pitch, then from 96 to 102. On the Sobol-2217-2310 with single-pitch tires, you can install tires in size 215/ 65R16 with a load index of 102T. Gazelle tires (rubber) of this size are recommended for driving at high speeds.
The question often arises: is it possible to install Niva tires on Gazelle-3302? Yes. Can!!! And don’t be surprised - you can wear felt boots in the summer, and sandals in the winter. If you use the carrying capacity of your Gazelle-3302 car by no more than 40%, then you can install “Niva” tires. The question is how practical is this? It’s like buying a bus ticket and walking. Tires for Gazelle -3302, Sobol-2217 and Gazelle-33023 are mostly produced in tube type and it’s up to you to choose which tires to use. In our experience, the majority of “gazelists” (about 80%) use tubed light truck tires and even install car tubes in tubeless tires. This is due to the deformation of wheel rims when they fall into holes with sharp edges and open wells. In this case, a tubeless tire will deflate immediately, and with a tubeless one you can get to the nearest tire shop where they can roll rims.
Rubber Maintenance
During the operation of the Gazelle-3302, Gaz-3310, Sobol-2217, ZIL Bychok vehicle, it is necessary to periodically tighten the wheel nuts securing the rims to the hubs in order to prevent deformation of the stud holes, remove rust and tint the wheels (wheel rims on the Gazelle gold wheel). When installing a wheel on a Gazelle-3302 car, special attention should be paid to the quality of the supporting surfaces of the disk and the parts mating to them. Do not allow dirt, sand, etc. to enter the contact area. To ensure the longest service life of the Gazelle tire (rubber) on the Gazelle-3302, you should follow the following rules: maintain the required tire pressure. The pressure is checked on cold tires before leaving. At stops along the way, you should inspect the tires and visually monitor the air pressure in them. While driving, you need to monitor whether the Gazelle-3302 car is “leading” in any direction. Such a slip may indicate a decrease in pressure in one of the tires or a violation of the wheel alignment angles; balance the wheels.
Tires assembled with wheels on the Gazelle-3302 Gazelle are dynamically balanced by placing weights on the rim flanges on both sides. Wheels and tires should be checked and balanced after 12,000-20,000 km on a special stand. On Gazelle-3302 type 4×2 vehicles, the permissible residual imbalance on each side of the wheel and tire should not exceed 40 g on the wheel rim; on all-wheel drive Gazelle-3302 type 4×4 vehicles - 45 g. Before balancing, the wheels (tires) must be washed and clean from dirt and foreign objects; When returning to the park and at stops, you should inspect the Gazelle tires and remove foreign objects from them. It is better to park the Gazelle-3302 car in a clean and dry place. Do not allow oil, acid, gasoline, or oil-based paint to come into contact with your tires; When parked for more than 10 days, periodically move the Gazelle-3302 or place it on stands to relieve the tires. Do not allow the Gazelle-3302 vehicle to be parked on flat tires; Tires (rubber) (Fig. 2) should be rearranged if necessary. The reason may be the need to obtain uniform wear on all tires, including the spare, and also to ensure the correct selection of tires on the axles. On one axle it is necessary to install tires that have the same tread wear, and more reliable ones - on the front axle of the car.
Figure 2. Gazelle-3302. Tire rotation diagram. The tire tread wear limit corresponds to a residual groove depth of 1.6 mm (determined by measurement or using a wear indicator). The wear indicators of the Gazelle tire on the Gazelle-3302, the height of which is 1.6 mm, in the form of solid strips of rubber, are located in the tread belts and are marked on the sidewalls of the tire with the TWJ icon.
Tire mounting
Before installing the R16 tire on the Gazelle-3302, it is necessary to check the condition of the rims, tires and tubes. The rim must be of the correct shape, without dents, cracks or corrosion. The tire beads must be clean, without damage or scuffing. The tube and the inside of the rubber tire on Gazelle-3302 should be powdered with talcum powder or chalk powder before installation. The procedure for mounting a tire on a wheel is as follows: install the tire (tyre) vertically, take the wheel so that the outer side of the wheel rim, and therefore the valve hole in the rim, faces the tire; partially insert the Gazelle-3302 wheel into the tire so that the tire bead is in the recess of the rim (Gazelle-3302. Fig. 3); Place the tire and wheel on the floor with the disc up and using the mounting blades, gradually insert the tire bead into the wheel rim (Gazelle-3302. Fig. 4). You should not ensure that the tire bead adheres to the edge of the rim, since this is prevented by the annular hump protrusion on the wheel rim on the Gazelle-3302. Turn the rim in the tire so that the mark of the light part of the tire is located near the hole under the nipple of the rim (the mark is applied to the sidewall of the tire in the form of a circle with a diameter of 5-10 mm, yellow or red);

Figure 4. Putting the tire bead on the wheel rim.
While pressing the top bead (Gazelle-3302. Fig. 5) of the tire on Gazelle-3302, Sobol-2217, Gazelle-33023, Gas-3310, install the chamber valve into the hole on the rim, and then the entire chamber inside the tire. To hold the valve in the rim hole, an extension must be installed on it;
Figure 5. Installing the valve in the wheel rim.
Place the upper bead of the tire, located on the opposite side of the valve, partially into the recess of the rim, and then use mounting blades to place the entire bead of the tire on the rim in the same way as the first bead; • inflate the tire. To seat the tire beads on the wheel rim, it is allowed to temporarily increase the air pressure in the tire to 5.0 kPa (5.0 kgf/cm2) and bring it to normal after seating the beads. Dismantling a tire on a Gazelle-3302. Before removing the tire from the wheel, you should clean it of dust, dirt and foreign objects, and then, using a jack or a special device, remove both beads of the tire from the rim flanges. The lower supporting surface of the jack should be installed on the sidewall of the tire as close to the wheel rim as possible, and the upper one under the Gazelle frame spar.
It is allowed to apply light blows with a hammer to the side of the gazelle tire or press it with mounting blades. The tires on the Gazelle-3302 are dismantled in the reverse order of installation. It should be remembered that the tire bead on a Gazelle-3302 is removed from the rim only if the opposite part of this bead is located in the recess of the rim. Gazelle-3302.
Wheel and tire malfunctions. Ways to eliminate them. Damaged wheels (gazelle gold wheel rims), as a rule, are not repaired but replaced with new ones. It is prohibited to use wheels on Gazelle-3302 with cracks, broken mounting holes, or bent disks. It is permissible to correct small dents on the rim flange in a cold state without heating. After straightening, the gazelle wheel rim should be checked for wheel runout. Radial and lateral runout of the rim seating surfaces in sections of the profile adjacent to the tire should not be more than 2 mm. Check the runout of the gazelle tire by installing the wheels on the mounting holes.

Figure 6. Type of abnormal tire wear: 1 - increased pressure; 2 - low blood pressure; 3 - incorrect wheel alignment; 4 - incorrect wheel camber; 5 — increased wheel runout; 6 - angular oscillation of the front wheels Increased and uneven wear of the tire tread is usually caused by a violation of their operating standards or abnormal operation of the chassis components of the Gazelle-3302 car and the steering. By the nature of wear on the tire tread, you can determine the reason causing the wear (Gazelle-3302. Fig. 6). So, on tire 1, wear is caused by prolonged driving with high pressure, and on tire 2 - by low pressure. The wear of tire 3, with characteristic rounded edges on one side of the tread pattern and sharp ones on the other, is caused by a misalignment of the wheels. If there are gross deviations (10-15 mm) from the recommended toe-in, the tires on the Gazelle-3302 may wear out after a mileage of less than 1000 km. Tire 4 has uneven tread wear due to camber problems.
This is especially evident when there is a large difference in the camber of the right and left wheels. Wear 5 in the form of two or one bald spots occurs as a result of increased vibration of the working surface of the wheel rim. A less pronounced “bald spot” may appear as a result of emergency braking on a concrete highway. On tire 6, spotty wear is visible, which appears when there are large angular vibrations of the front wheels or one wheel (tire) relative to the king pin axis. The main reasons for spotty wear of a gazelle tire are the following: play in the steering rod joints (tips) and suspension or in the steering mechanism, malfunction of the front shock absorbers or one of them, loosening of the steering linkage arms to the suspension strut, bipod on the shaft, steering gear to the frame spar and other reasons causing angular vibration of wheels. Methods for repairing a damaged and worn tire are well known, and, as a rule, repairs are performed at tire repair plants. Spare wheel mount for Gazelle-3302.
The spare wheel is fixed in the rear of the Gazelle-3302 car under the platform with brackets and brackets. At the customer's request, the spare wheel can be mounted on the right side member of the Gazelle-3302 frame on a removable bracket. Speed index. In Figure 7 you can find out the maximum permissible speed of the Gazelle-3302 car. The letter designation of the speed index is usually indicated next to the load index. For example, 102/104Q, where 102/104 is the load index for twin or single rear wheels, and the Latin letter Q is the speed index for a given gazelle tire model (no more than 160 km/h).

Car tires for Gazelle-3302 are divided into: purpose, profile shape, dimensions; design and sealing principle (GOST 22374-77) Purpose: passenger car tires are used on passenger cars, light-duty trucks (Gazelle-3302, Sobol-2217, Gazelle-33023, Gas-3310, Hyundai Porter, Volkswagen Transporter, Mercedes Sprinter ), minibuses and trailers for them, intended for operation in all climatic zones at ambient temperatures from minus 45°C to plus 55°C; According to the profile shape: regular profile tires with a ratio of profile height (H) to its width (B) of more than 0.89; wide-profile tires with an H to B ratio from 0.6 to 0.9; low-profile tires with an H to B ratio from 0.7 to 0.88; ultra-low profile tires with an H to B ratio of no more than 0.7; arched tires with an H to B ratio from 0.39 to 0.5; . pneumatic rollers with an H to B ratio from 0.25 to 0.39. By size: large tires with a profile width of 350 mm (14 inches) or more, regardless of the seat diameter; medium-sized tires with a section width from 200 to 350 mm (7 to 14 inches) and a seat diameter of at least 457 mm (18 inches); small-sized tires with a profile width of no more than 260 mm (up to 10 inches) and a seat diameter of no more than 457 mm (18 inches).
By design: diagonal tires on Gazelle-3302, in which the cord threads of the carcass and breaker intersect in adjacent layers, and the angle of inclination of the threads in the middle of the treadmill in the carcass and belt is from 45 to 60°; radial tires in which the angle of inclination of the carcass cords is 0°, and the breaker angle is at least 65°; tires for Gazelle-3302 with a removable tread, consisting of a tire with a frame in which the cord angle is 0°, and a removable tread; tires for Gazelle-3302 with adjustable pressure, in which the internal pressure can be changed over a wide range depending on operating conditions.
According to the sealing principle: tube tires for Gazelle-3302 and tubeless tires for Gazelle-3302. Depending on the purpose, the tires have the following types of tread patterns: with a road pattern (D) for working on roads with hard, improved surfaces; with a universal pattern (U) for working on hard-surface roads and on dirt; with an all-terrain pattern (AP) for working mainly on soft ground; with a winter (snow) tread pattern (3) without studs or with studs for working on snowy and icy roads; with a quarry tread pattern (Kar) for work in quarries, logging, etc. Gazelle tires are divided into tubed and tubeless. The set of a tubed tire for light trucks Gazelle-3302 includes a tire and a tube, and a tubed tire for passenger cars includes a tire and a tube.
Low-profile and ultra-low-profile tires are produced for passenger cars and buses. might also be produced for trucks Gazelle-3302 2217 Sable-2217 (K-181 BARGUZIN (Barguzin) and (K-196 M+S Seven Hills) winter). These tires have a lower profile height, which improves vehicle stability and controllability at high speeds. Wide-profile tires are used on heavy-duty vehicles, four-wheel drive vehicles and trailers. The use of wide-profile tires on the Gazelle-3302 allows you to increase the vehicle's cross-country ability and reduce the consumption of tire materials.
A tubeless tire consists of a tire that has a sealing layer. The tire for Gazelle-3302 consists of the following main elements: frame, breaker, sidewalls, beads with wire rings and tread. Tubeless tires are available for some passenger cars and trucks ZIL 5301 Bychok, usually all-wheel drive. The main advantages of tubeless tires are: increased reliability due to the lack of the possibility of instant depressurization, which also improves the driving safety of the Gazelle-3302 vehicle; reducing the downtime of the Gazelle-3302 vehicle on the road when repairing tire punctures; less heating of the tires while driving and less rolling resistance, as well as less weight of the tire. If the rim or tubeless tire loses its tightness, it can be used as a regular tire on the Gazelle-3302.

GAZ-27057: design features
When developing the Gazelle truck, a version of the vehicle with an all-metal van body was initially envisaged. The first such rear-wheel drive GAZ-2705 vehicles appeared in 1995, and after some time the van began to be assembled on a chassis with permanent 4x4 all-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive GAZ-27057 “Gazelle”, and this is how the new model began to be called, had differences only in the chassis. The car bodies are almost identical.
Van body
At first, the all-wheel drive van was produced with a three-seater cab. To manufacture the body of the GAZ-27057 van, side panels similar to bus parts were used. The only difference is in the sealed openings of the side windows. Access to the cargo compartment was through the rear symmetrical hinged doors, as well as through a side door that slides along guides. All cargo compartment doors are not glazed.
A year later, the car began to be offered with an optional two-row cabin, creating a cargo-passenger version. Access to the second row of seats was through a sliding door on the right side of the car. There is glass on the door of the seven-seat cargo-passenger version, as well as on the opposite side.
A three-seater van has a cargo compartment with a length of more than 3.1 meters; on vehicles with two rows of seats, the length of the compartment is reduced to 2 meters. The cargo compartment walls are lined to protect the paintwork. Optionally, the van could be equipped with a plastic roof, which allowed the interior height to be increased by 7-8 cm.
Chassis features
The all-wheel drive version of the GAZ-27057 van was created for use in light off-road conditions. Ground clearance, compared to the rear-wheel drive version, has been increased by 2 cm and is an impressive 190 mm. Thanks to it, the overhang angles increased, which improved the geometric cross-country ability of the vehicle.
The transmission includes a five-speed gearbox and an additional two-speed transfer case. One gear of the transfer case is direct, the second is a reduction gear. Their design includes a locking center differential. The front axle drive cannot be switched off.
The transfer case control levers are brought into the cabin and placed next to the gear shift lever. These design features make it difficult to seat two passengers in the front seat.
Modern version
Currently, the plant offers customers a van with permanent all-wheel drive under the Gazelle-Business brand. The machine is offered with two cab options and two engine options. For additional comfort, the cabin can be equipped with air conditioning, electric windows, central locking and electric heated mirrors. On request, fog lights and a standard radio with steering wheel control function are installed.
The UMZ-A274 gasoline engine of the Evotek series, with a power of 107 horsepower, accelerates the car to 120 km/h and consumes from 11 to 14 liters of A92 gasoline. The imported Cummins diesel engine provides higher performance for the GAZ-27057 - with the same possible maximum speed, fuel consumption is no more than ten liters. For diesel engines, an optional parking heater for oil and coolant in the engine is available, which is very convenient at low air temperatures.
Both engines come with a five-speed gearbox with synchronizers in all forward gears. The brake system is hydraulically driven and is equipped with an optional anti-lock braking module.

Tire sizes for Gazelles
For the classic version of the Gazelle, there are three standard wheel sizes:
- 175R16C;
- 185/75R16C;
- 195R16C;
- 205/70R16.
At the same time, it is permissible to install the last three varieties, but not recommended. The rear twin may wear out if the sidewalls touch each other as the load increases. However, such structures can be installed on the front axle without difficulty. There is only one wheel and enough space to turn a large tire.
Rubber manufacturers
Tires for light trucks are represented on the market by almost all factories producing them in Russia. For factory equipment, tires produced by the Yaroslavl plant under the Y462 brand are more often used. The following brands also exist:
- Nizhnekamsk - Kama -218 or 301;
- Volzhsky - VS-22, VL - 54;
- Omsk - MPS - 115, O - 147;
- Kirovsky - K - 139/156/170, called “Barguzin”;
- Bobruisk - BI - 522;
- Ural - K-135;
- Altaisky - A-12 Forward Professional.

What tires can be installed on a Gazelle on the rear axle?
For the rear axle of the car, the manufacturer has provided a pair of wheels. The design ensures optimal load capacity and durability of the chassis elements. When choosing new tires, the manufacturer strongly recommends installing tires of the same type and size. The requirement is justified by the minimum gap between the slopes in the working pair.
When loaded, the distance between the sidewalls decreases (the cylinders are pressed through), which requires maintaining the original characteristics of the product. In some cases, car enthusiasts independently convert the car’s axle to accommodate single wheels. Tuning improves the following indicators:
- permeability;
- fuel efficiency;
- savings on tires (fewer quantities need to be purchased);
- improved dynamics.
Among the disadvantages, the reduction in carrying capacity stands out - the twin coupler can withstand a greater load. There is also the risk of a puncture; if you puncture a wheel on a double unit, the second part will withstand the trip to the service station.
Cabin
The interior of the GAZ 27057 meets international ergonomic standards. The controls and dashboard with an updated interface were designed using Luxe technology by the German company EDAG Engineering GmbH.
The car seats are covered with high-quality materials, providing an additional level of comfort and sound insulation. In the new GAZ 27057 interior, common causes of squeaks and deformation of plastic have been eliminated
Particular attention was paid to the interior heating system, increasing its efficiency by more than 2 times
Also included as standard:
- Device "ERA GLONASS";
- Lockable rear axle differential;
- Power steering;
- USB radio;
- Speakers;
- Electrically heated mirrors;
- Electric windows;
- Fog lights;
The locking differential of the rear axle has proven itself in cases where the car overcomes terrain with difficult terrain, and the reduction gear significantly increases the cross-country ability of the GAZ 27057.
What is the tire pressure
One of the main responsibilities of car owners is to constantly monitor tire pressure levels. It should not be less or more than nominal. You can familiarize yourself with the standard characteristics recommended by the manufacturer. There is a metal nameplate under the hood, in the area where the engine is located, or on the door pillar. It contains detailed information about the standard size of permissible wheels, their diameter and permitted pressure.
Some drivers deliberately operate their vehicle with wheels whose tire pressure is less than the nominal pressure. In this way, it is possible to achieve a smoother movement of the car over bumps. However, low blood pressure causes a number of different problems:
- significantly increases fuel consumption - by 5-15% of the original value;
- the side “soles” of the wheel wear down much faster;
- the car handles much worse;
- there is an increased load on the suspension.
Recommended tire pressure values:
- on the front axle – 3.8 kPa;
- on the rear axle – 3.9 kPa;
- spare wheel - 3.9 kPa.
The standard wheels installed on these cars are tubeless, they are equipped with stamped discs. In this case, the axis has a paired “two”. The maximum speed of the car is 110 km/h. Therefore, you can not be afraid to choose among the cheapest tire options.
Features of selection and installation
What to do if you want to change the radius of the wheels on a GAZelle? Let's say, if the standard tires are sixteenth radius, is it possible to install a 17th radius? Unfortunately, such tricks are not provided for GAZelles. You can only install a slightly wider wheel - 215/65 R16, but in return you get less controllability and faster wear.
As for installing disks with other parameters, the field for experimentation here is also small. The rigid characteristic is the number of holes for the studs (6) and the distance between them (170). In principle, you can take a disk with a large central hole diameter and use it during installation. You can also play a little with the flight. However, in practice, there is usually a large selection of wheels with standard characteristics for wheels on the GAZelle R16. Therefore, you don’t have to think long about the selection.
I would also like to note the possibility of changing all-season tires to ones more suitable for use. In this case, additional concern arises about the alternate storage of a set of six wheels, as well as the time spent on changing shoes. But there is also a positive aspect of winter tires - safer driving.
Review of the best summer and winter tires
Many owners purchase so-called “all-season” tires. However, the disadvantage of such wheels is the lack of studs and poor contact with the road on ice. The best solution is to purchase separate sets of tires for winter and summer. This will avoid problems on the road.
Michelin Agilis+ are distinguished by their durability and relatively low price - despite their overall size. They will be an excellent solution for GAZelle car owners.
Nexen WG WH2 will cost extremely cheap - no more than 3,500 rubles for 1 cylinder. Despite the relatively high cost, such wheels are durable and perfectly remove water from the contact patch.
The Firestone Touring FS100 is made from quality rubber. The manufacturer uses an electronic control method.
Yokohama AE01 Bluearth allows the driver to feel 100% safe even on wet roads. The presence of special drainage channels ensures excellent contact between the “sole” of the wheel and the road surface.
The Cordiant Comfort company offers good summer solutions. The rubber produced by this company is distinguished by its durability. It is extremely difficult to damage it even with a special one.
You should be especially careful when choosing winter tires. By Pirelli Winter Formula ICE features a large number of steel studs. Their presence allows you to create reliable contact.
Nokian HKPL-8 is a great solution for a frosty winter! The presence of spikes and a large number of drainage channels in the wheel base helps to avoid aquaplaning. The car handles all turns perfectly.
Dunlop Winter ICE-02 91T has an unusual tread shape. The use of such rubber allows you to safely move on roads of any quality. Reinforced sidewalls will help avoid damage to the wheel when hitting curbs or other obstacles.
Bridgestone Spike-02 is relatively inexpensive. In this case, the total number of studs on 1 wheel is about 250 pieces.
The price for one Nexen Winguard Spike tire will be approximately 4,300 rubles. Despite the relatively low cost, such tires perform well on the most difficult roads. The presence of ice and water will not cause any inconvenience to the driver. There are several standard sizes in the series.
It is necessary to familiarize yourself with all the parameters of the tire before purchasing it. This is the only way to avoid purchasing wheels of the wrong type. High-quality tires are the key to driver safety on the road.

Do I need to change tires on a Gazelle?
The Gazelle belongs to the class of light trucks with a small maximum load. Here, motorists change tires to seasonal ones in the standard mode for winter and summer, respectively. Some drivers prefer all-season tires, but this is only relevant in certain regions.
Winter tires for Gazelle
Winter tires for a Gazelle car are practically no different from modifications for conventional cars. Here are the general traffic rules and customs union standards, which clearly state that you need to install winter tires for the period from December to early March, regardless of the region.
The tires themselves are divided into two categories:
- friction;
- studded.
Both versions can be installed at the request of the motorist and the actual operating conditions of the car.
Is it necessary to install studded tires on a Gazelle?
Some users are wondering whether it is worth installing winter tires with studs on the Gazelle. The answer to the question will be the region and area where the car is driven.
If the car is driven primarily in urban areas, the roads are well cleaned and there is no heavy icing, a standard friction clutch will fully cope.
When driving on the highway or in small towns where there are problems with cleaning the road surface, you will need to install studded tires. Regular Velcro can slip on ice or in the presence of deep lines.
It is not recommended to deviate from the factory settings in terms of width. Wide modifications brake worse and are less stable when negotiating sharp turns.
Summer tires for Gazelle
As summer tires, the motorist is provided with a huge selection of modifications and brand offers. Among the most popular are the following:
- Nokian;
- Goodyear;
- Rossava;
- Michelin.
You can also pay attention to offers from domestic manufacturers.
What all-season tires to put on a Gazelle
As an all-season vehicle, motorists are offered options exclusively produced in the CIS. In Europe, the USA and Japan there is no concept of “all-season tires”. Therefore, it will not be possible to find a universal imported tire. Local offers include the following brands:
- Belshina;
- Rossava.
Also good reviews of other offers.
Popular tire models for Gazelle
Kama – Euro
For Russia this is the most popular model. It is characterized by good maneuverability on snowy surfaces, but behaves poorly on ice. It becomes stiff and loses elasticity below 15 degrees below zero. Many car enthusiasts complain about the studs flying out of their tires, and over time they deflate.
Tigar CargoSpeed Winter
According to gazellists, Tigar is the best model. The rubber is soft, so it will absorb potholes and small holes on the roads without any problems. The price is affordable, but unlike the Kama, it retains its thorns better and lasts longer. Pairs perfectly with urban use. It rides satisfactorily on snow and ice.
Gislaved Nord Frost Van
Lots of positive qualities. The rubber is soft and quiet, even in severe frosts. Good handling on snowy roads and in icy conditions, but due to their softness they lose a lot of studs. These tires are designed for stress-free driving.
Nokian Nordman S
Excellent handling in snow and ice. Good car handling in the rain. Wears evenly. When used on Gazelle Next, it does not eat the sidewall. Withstands difficult operating conditions.

The one and a half ton Gazelles of the delivery class, which rolled off the AvtoGaz assembly line in 1994, made a real revolution in small cargo transportation, filling a niche for small and medium-sized businesses that were developing in those years, almost completely displacing foreign cars of this class, due to their low cost and greater adaptability to Russian off-road.
