Chainsaw “Husqvarna” 137, model description

The Husqvarna 137 chainsaw is currently out of production, but still remains a competitive tool, characterized by high performance, durability and maintainability (the owner of the equipment, having all the necessary spare parts, can carry out the necessary repairs and adjustment work with his own hands). This modification of the chainsaw is successfully used for sawing logs and boards (longitudinal, transverse and diagonal cutting), trimming crowns, trimming branches, and in construction.

The weight of the chainsaw without accessories is 4.6 kg, when fully equipped it is 5.5 kg. The robust housing houses a 2.18 liter X-Torq two-stroke carburetor internal combustion engine. With. To start the Husqvarna chainsaw, an inertia starter with a spring is provided, which facilitates the starting procedure. Built-in forced air injection system "Air Inzhekshin". Duplicated air purification increases the life of the air filter, and therefore the life of the chainsaw itself. The ignition system is contactless. Thanks to the built-in Auto Tune system, carburetor tuning is done automatically. To increase safety when working with the tool, there is an inertial chain brake that is activated when a kickback occurs, hand protection, Low Vibration anti-vibration protection, and a muffler.

The main elements of the Husqvarna 137 chainsaw

The chain tension mechanism is located on the side of the Husqvarna 137 chainsaw. A special universal screwdriver wrench is used to mount the bar and adjust the chain tension. For this modification of a gasoline chain saw, H30 tires measuring 13 inches (33 cm) are used; options with tires from other manufacturers no longer than 38 cm are possible. Lubricant is supplied to the chain mechanism automatically when the chain is moving.

Typical faults and solutions

The wide range of available powers gives this saw exceptional versatility. Smart Start® technology and fuel priming pump make starting easy.

Husqvarna 5200 is a Chinese counterfeit and has been in use for more than 5 years. Over the years there were no complaints about the operation of the saw, but the time came and problems appeared. The idle speed increased by itself, the chain did not stop, the idle screw did not help. I didn’t pay much attention, since I could work. But gradually the problem intensified, the speed at idle increased to such an extent that it was possible to saw without even pressing the gas lever. At some point the saw stalled and stopped starting completely.
I wasn’t particularly upset, since there was another saw on the farm, made by a different company. And the Chinese Husqvarna was quietly collecting dust somewhere in the corner, until it once again caught my eye. And once again I thought: is it possible to repair it? Of course, I didn’t even think about a service center, it was very far away, and in general... the game isn’t worth the candle. I decided to delve into it and figure it out myself.

I searched the Internet, asked around on the forums. The answer is almost the same everywhere: carburetor or crankshaft seals. I bought a carburetor and changed it. The result is zero. Well, as for the seals, the matter is more complicated, but I decided to take a look anyway. I gradually began to disassemble it. When I removed the cylinder, I discovered a surprise. The gasket between the crankcase and the cylinder was damaged. Or rather, she was almost not there at all. All that was left of the gasket were small pieces in the corners.

As luck would have it, there was nothing at hand to make a new gasket. I cut it out of thick cardboard, greased it, and installed it. I assembled the saw and pulled the starter. The saw started. A slight adjustment of the carburetor, final assembly - and the saw worked for almost another year.

Then the same signs appeared again. I immediately thought that everything was repeating itself. Most likely, the paper gasket did not withstand the function assigned to it. Actually, that’s how it turned out.

Below are a few photos that might be useful to someone.

Approximate order of work. Unscrew the five bolts and remove the top plastic cover. Remove the air filter and unscrew the spark plug. You can immediately remove the tubular handle, as it will interfere later when installing the cylinder.

Remove the muffler by unscrewing two bolts and two nuts (1,2,3,4).

We unscrew the two bolts (1.2) that secure the carburetor to the vertical stand.

We tighten the two rubber tubes and remove the carburetor.

We unscrew the two bolts securing the vertical carburetor strut and the four bolts securing the cylinder.

We pull out the rubber tube from the hole in the vertical stand. Remove the cylinder along with the vertical stand. The photo below shows the old gasket.

We take a sheet of paronite 1 mm thick and approximately 80x80 mm in size. Mark with a compass and cut out a hole dia. 50mm. Using an awl, we mark the centers of future mounting holes, then cut them out with a scalpel directly on the cylinder. To prevent the gasket from moving, you can temporarily insert bolts into the already cut holes.

Trim the outer edge of the gasket.

Let's put everything back together in reverse order.

CACKLE commenting system

The carburetor serves to mix the flammable mixture with air while maintaining predetermined proportions. If clear doses are not followed, the proper operation of the engine is at risk. When a huge amount of air enters during mixing of the components, but there is not enough fuel, then such a mixture is considered “lean”.

Oversaturation should not be allowed, because with a larger amount of fuel compared to air, malfunctions or engine wear are also likely. Carburetor adjustment is needed not only before initial use, but also when any differences in its operation are detected. Before starting to work with a chainsaw, do not forget to run it in.

Carburetor components

The carburetor design contains a standard set of parts, but may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer. Components:

  1. The basis. This is a special tube that is visually similar to an aerodynamic design. Air passes through it. In the transverse direction, a damper is located in the middle of the pipe. Its position can be changed. The more it is extended into the passage, the less air enters the engine.
  2. Diffuser. This is the constricted part of the tube. With its help, the air supply speed increases precisely in the segment from which the fuel comes out.
  3. Channels for fuel supply. The fuel mixture is contained in the float chamber, then passes into the nozzle, from which it flows into the atomizer.
  4. Float chamber. It is a separate structural element, reminiscent of the shape of a tank. Designed to constantly maintain the optimal level of fuel fluid before entering the channel from which air enters.

How to tune the carburetor on a chainsaw Husqvarna Adjusting the carburetor on a chainsaw using three THL screws.

Need to do a little research. Acceleration of the device is initiated. It is necessary to evaluate the proper operation of the engine during maximum speed. When the engine is functioning correctly, it means that when you press the accelerator, the speed quickly increases to 15,000 rpm.

Currently reading: DIY jigsaw: two manufacturing options

If this does not happen or the increase in speed is too slow, you must use the screw marked L. It turns counterclockwise. Moderate movements must be observed, since the turn cannot be more than 1/8 of a full circle.

Before this procedure, it is necessary to carry out a full adjustment of the carburetor components when operating at maximum speed. Next, you should check the functioning of the device in idle cold mode. When the correct adjustment parameters are achieved, you will notice that the carburetor design closely matches the following criteria:

  1. When the idle cold mode is activated, the chain does not move.

Chainsaw accelerator

  1. When the accelerator is pressed even slightly, the engine accelerates at an accelerated pace. With gradual deepening of pressure, you can notice that the engine speed increases proportionately, reaching the maximum permissible values.
  2. When the engine is running, you can compare its sound to a four-stroke device.

If violations are noticed in the given parameters or the device has not been fully adjusted, you need to perform the main setup step again. Sometimes actions are performed incorrectly. In this case, the device may fail due to the loss of the correct node settings. In this case, you will have to contact a specialist.

The design of different carburetor models is almost the same, so when working with them you can use the standard scheme. All elements must be removed carefully and then laid out in the order given below so that you can successfully place the items in place after the completion of the repair work.

Read:

Removing the Top Cover

  1. The top cover is removed. To do this, you need to unscrew the 3 bolts holding it in a circle.
  2. The foam rubber is also removed, since it is the upper component of the filter that conducts air.
  3. The fuel hose is removed.
  4. The drive thrust is output directly to it.
  5. The cable end is disconnected.
  6. The gasoline hose can be completely removed if you systematically pull it off the fitting.

To finally prepare the carburetor for major repairs or replacement of the smallest parts, you need to carefully disconnect it from the main system. Sometimes further disassembly is required. You should unscrew the components carefully and put the fasteners in groups, as these small parts are easily lost.

One of the main reasons for the popularity of the model from the Swedish manufacturer is the presence of high-quality components in its design. The Husqvarna 137 chainsaw consists of the following parts:

  • Comfortable rubberized handles in the front and rear, as well as a starter cable handle;
  • Durable starter, cylinder and clutch covers;
  • Chain brake handles;
  • Two tanks - for the fuel mixture and oil for chain lubrication;
  • Levers for changing position and completely blocking the throttle valve;
  • Ignition buttons:
  • Silencer;
  • Durable branded tire with drive sprocket:
  • Chain and hex screw used to adjust its tension;
  • Protective shield.

Under the durable body of the Husqvarna 137 chainsaw there is a 2-stroke engine, a fuel system with a carburetor and a reliable ignition system.

Even such a high-quality tool as the Husqvarna 137 chainsaw sometimes fails. It’s quite easy to figure out the breakdown and fix it yourself. Below we will look at the most common problems with chainsaws and how to repair them yourself.

Repairing the carburetor of the Husqvarna 137 chainsaw in most cases involves tuning it. For this purpose, the saw design provides 3 adjusting screws:

  • Screw “T” allows you to adjust the operation of the Husqvarna 137 saw at idle speed;
  • Screw “H” is intended for quick adjustment of the saw in order to operate it at high speeds;
  • Screw "L" is used to adjust the tool motor at low speed.
  1. To begin, start the chainsaw and rotate the screw marked “L” clockwise until the saw operates at maximum speed;
  2. Immediately after this, turn the same screw exactly ¼ turn in the opposite direction. If the saw chain rotates, turn the screw “T” until it stops completely;
  3. Let the engine run for about 20 seconds, pull the trigger at full throttle and begin turning the screw “H” in a strictly counterclockwise direction, making a quarter turn;
  4. Wait at least 10 more seconds - if the engine of your tool starts to work like a 4-stroke engine, then you have adjusted the chainsaw carburetor correctly.

At the end, you will need to adjust the operation of the Husqvarna 137 saw at idle speed. To do this, start the engine and turn the screw “T” until the chain begins to rotate. After this, the screw should be turned in the opposite direction until the chain stops.

Description

Chainsaw Husqvarna 137 is a legendary model from the Swedish manufacturer of chain saws, which has become a bestseller in its niche and has captivated more than one owner with its set of technical characteristics.

Currently, the chainsaw has been discontinued; the company produces analogues, both more powerful and similar in power. The main reason for the success of the model was the ideal combination of functionality, power, light weight, small size, reliability of components, as well as a minimal percentage of breakdowns and, accordingly, a low percentage of repair cases.

Chainsaw Husqvarna 137

The engine of the Husqvarna 137 chainsaw is a carburetor, two-stroke, its power is 2.2 hp. The saw engine runs on a mixture of oil and gasoline. A special feature of the model is the best-in-class Walbro carburetor. In winter, the chainsaw will start as easily as in summer. This process is ensured by an electronic ignition system.

This model is distinguished by high technical performance and good factory carburetor adjustment.

Carburetor for Husqvarna 137 chainsaw

The engine capacity of the Husqvarna 137 chainsaw is 36.3 cc. Fuel tank volume - 410 ml, oil tank volume - 200 ml.

The main purpose of the Husqvarna chainsaw is as follows:

  • pruning branches and twigs;
  • cutting large logs and boards;
  • other work with wood in domestic volumes.

Basic faults

However, like any mechanism, Husqvarna 137 can begin to act up. Let's look at the main faults characteristic of this saw model:

Ignition system.

Since malfunctions of this system are the most common, the spark plug should be inspected first. If it is completely dry, then it needs to be put back in place and the cause of the breakdown should be looked for elsewhere.

If there are traces of fuel on the spark plug, then the fault is really somewhere nearby.

Wipe the spark plug, turn off the fuel supply and turn on the starter. This will get rid of excess fuel in the combustion chamber. After this, install the spark plug in place, check the carburetor adjustment in accordance with the instructions and start the car, strictly guided by it.

Another problem is the presence of carbon deposits on the spark plug. Besides the fact that it needs to be cleaned, you also need to reconsider your approach to the oil you use. Carbon deposits appear due to low-quality oil, which not only complicates the operation of the ignition system, but also contributes to accelerated wear of other components of the saw.

If cleaning the spark plug and purging the combustion chamber does not help, check the gap between the electrodes and the spark plug. You can fix it with a new gasket.

In cases where there is absolutely no spark even when replacing the spark plug, it is advisable to contact a specialized workshop, since the problem may be caused by a malfunction of the high-voltage cable.

Fuel supply system.

First, check the carburetor adjustment.

If fuel still does not enter the cylinder, remove the fuel hose and check the fuel supply. A weak stream indicates a problem in the fuel filter. It must be washed in water, dried and put back.

Likewise, you should check the air filter. Insufficient air supply to the carburetor can cause the engine to stall.

After washing the filters, inspect the system for foreign particles that could interfere with the flow of fuel.

If all else fails, the cause of the malfunction may be in the carburetor itself, and this is already a complex device, and it is better to turn to professionals.

Spark arrestor.

When the saw stalls when the speed increases, it is advisable to check the muffler. There is a spark arrester located there, which often becomes clogged with various combustion products. To eliminate the problem, the muffler should be thoroughly cleaned.

Other chainsaw breakdowns are usually more serious and require qualified repairs.

Advantages

The tools of this manufacturer from Sweden are of high quality and are constantly being improved. Technological nuances and innovative solutions are gradually migrating from professional models to amateur instruments. The advantages of the Husqvarna-137 unit include the following points:

The instructions describe such an operation as adjusting the carburetor. “Husqvarna-137” is a chainsaw, in which you will need to go through several stages:

  1. Preparation. At this stage, it is necessary to warm up the engine and turn off the unit for 10-15 minutes. Then check and rinse the filter element. The high and low speed control screws are adjusted to maximum resistance by turning clockwise. After stopping, the screws are turned in the opposite direction one and a half turns.
  2. At the main stage, the engine turns on at medium speed and warms up for 7-10 minutes. The idle speed screw turns clockwise. It should be released when the engine begins to function stably. The chain should remain motionless at this moment. Then you need to check the saw at maximum speed. If, when activating the accelerator, the tool gains little speed, adjust screw L by turning it counterclockwise.
  3. The final stage of such an operation as carburetor adjustment: Husqvarna-137 is checked at idle.

Basic equipment

To correctly configure the carburetor of a Chinese chainsaw, you must first remember the factory settings of the device, then turn on the engine. Subsequently, you will have to leave it running for several hours in order to accurately set your own parameters. Sometimes work is carried out only after ten minutes of engine operation, but many Chinese-made models require special handling.

Chinese chainsaw model

Adjustment procedure:

  1. Activities begin in idle mode. Using the adjusting screws, you need to achieve a systematic increase in engine speed, so you should first let it run at low speeds. A deviation from the norm is the movement of the chain along the bus. In this case, you need to adjust the outer screws to the optimal position so that the chain remains motionless.
  2. The transition to medium speed speed is carried out. Sometimes the engine starts to smoke. This defect can be eliminated by tightening the screw to supply a leaner fuel mixture.

In this case, the smoke will disappear, but the engine speed will increase. You need to adjust the settings until you reach a level where, when you press the throttle, the engine smoothly picks up speed, and no sudden jerks or interruptions are heard.

  • The device's engine is being checked. The chainsaw is switched to minimum speed, and then the lever is quickly pressed. When pressed maximally, it is held for 3 seconds. If there are problems with the engine, you need to gradually loosen the screw until the optimal position is reached.
  • The chainsaw should work for several hours in real conditions. You need to cut wood, and then inspect all the elements involved in this event. If there are deviations, they must be corrected using adjusting devices. When all defects have been eliminated and the optimal settings have been established to supply correctly concentrated fuel, the device setup process can be considered complete.

Replacement equipment consists of a 15-inch guide bar and 0.325-inch pitch chain driven by a drive sprocket. The chain tension is adjusted using a special device.

Cooling and lubrication of the chain is realized by dosed supply of oil to the working area. Oil is supplied to the pump inlet from an internal reservoir with a volume of 200 ml.

Replacing a worn tire-chain set is not technically difficult. In order to independently remove the chain drive sprocket, you must use the universal key included in the factory kit.

The use of recommended chain oils has a positive effect on the efficiency and durability of removable equipment as a whole.

Owner reviews

Vadim, 40 years old

My Husqvarna is almost 5 years old. It works without problems, and although this modification is no longer produced with consumables, there are also no problems. Compact, easy to operate, oil is expensive, of course, but the tool is of very high quality - both in assembly and in operation, so it is a crime to ruin it with cheap oils.

Advantages: reliable, durable, convenient, powerful.

Disadvantages: expensive oil.

Igor, 35 years old

The saw is excellent, I found it in my father’s garage, went through it, replaced some things - it works! Suitable for sawing logs and for construction. For the last 1.5 months I have been using it almost every day. The engine is excellent, and you can’t say that it was idle for a long time.

Advantages: universal, convenient, durable, repairable, spare parts available.

Disadvantages: none found.

Andrey, 44 years old

I purchased a used 137 chainsaw. Although it is not new, the price is solid, but no regrets - it starts easily, there is enough power for all the tasks.

Pros: productive, works great.

Disadvantages: expensive.

How to adjust the carburetor on chainsaws

To understand how to properly adjust the carburetor on a chainsaw, you need to see it, and therefore we invite the reader to pay attention to the example below. PHOTO: rmnt.ru Arrows indicate carburetor adjustment screws

PHOTO: rmnt.ru Arrows indicate carburetor adjustment screws

To make the adjustment, you only need a slotted screwdriver, but it will not be possible to perfectly accurately adjust the carburetor without a tachometer (of course, if the person is not a mechanic or an experienced professional driver). Now let's try to understand how to adjust the carburetor in a given situation.

How to adjust the carburetor of a chainsaw if it doesn’t start at all

A fairly common problem in cases where a “master” from the “I know everything” series tries to get into the settings with hands that do not grow from his shoulders. In such a case, there are standard screw positions from which you can “dance” further. First you need to tighten both screws completely (don't be too zealous). Next unscrew:

  • screw L – one turn;
  • screw H – one and a half turns.

Important Technical characteristics of a series of cargo-passenger GAZelles

PHOTO: withoutahitch.com.au Each screw is marked, and there are holes in the housing for adjustment

As for the idle speed screw, the throttle must first be completely closed (screw T turned out). After this, you need to turn it one and a half turns clockwise and try to start the engine. If it doesn’t work, gradually add a quarter turn at a time until starting. When the engine starts running, the position of the idle screw is adjusted so that the internal combustion engine does not stall, but the chain remains in place.

PHOTO: xoznik.ruAfter this, you need to start the engine and let it run for 8-10 minutes. During operation, preliminary adjustment of the idle speed is possible. When the engine is warm, you can begin fine tuning.
