Working in the garden always requires certain physical strength.
To make the work of gardeners easier, small-sized walk-behind tractors were produced.
They will help with plowing, harvesting grass and even harvesting.
The company began producing walk-behind tractors and other agricultural equipment in the 2000s.
It was from this time that Hoper walk-behind tractors began to appear on the market, and already in 2010 they became one of the most popular among consumers.
Manufacturer and features
Khoper is a manufacturer of gardening equipment . Its history began back in 1991, when the company began purchasing agricultural products and then selling them in a network of small stalls.
Today, equipment is sold not only in our country, but also in neighboring countries.
However, in a short period of existence, walk-behind tractors produced under this brand have become quite popular and recognizable. The equipment is assembled at Russian factories located in Voronezh, Perm and other cities.
Both foreign and domestic parts are used during production . Motoblocks use gasoline and diesel engines.
The latter are equipped with an air and water cooling system, while gasoline ones are equipped with air cooling only.
The main features of the Hopper technology include:
- small size;
- functionality;
- complete with cutters and plow (some models);
- equipped with a headlight (some modifications);
- continuous operation for 4-6 hours;
- original, recognizable design;
- convenient location of all key elements;
- long service life engines.
These walk-behind tractors can be used for:
- loosening the soil;
- digging up fruits;

- hilling;
- transportation of small cargo;
- cleaning the area.
User manual
You can familiarize yourself in detail with the operating instructions for Lifan engines, which are included with almost all models of the Khoper brand, by clicking on the link.
The first thing you should check before turning on the engine is the oil level in the tank. Using high-quality oil is an important factor in ensuring long-term engine performance. The manufacturer recommends using SAE-30 summer, SAE 10W-30 all-season. It should be taken into account that its thickness depends on the operating temperature conditions.
ATTENTION! It is strictly forbidden to start the engine in the absence or insufficient amount of oil.
If the model is equipped with a gearbox, then check the oil level there too. The gearbox uses the same oil as the engine.
It is very important to operate the engine with a clean air filter. Otherwise, rapid wear of the motor occurs and, as a result, a reduction in service life.
Fuel for each model is selected individually, depending on the characteristics declared by the manufacturer. If the engine is gasoline, then the octane number should be greater than 86.
Walk-behind tractor series
Today, the manufacturer offers several series of walk-behind tractors for tillage:
- Hopper 900 is a series of walk-behind tractors with gasoline engines. The maximum speed of such machines is 8 km/h, the processing depth is 15-30 cm, and the width is up to 120 cm. Models in this series are quite compact and weigh relatively little (75-90 kg).
- Hopper 1000 - this series represents more advanced and new versions of the 900 series models. Such units can operate in areas of up to 70 acres. Almost all modifications have Lifan gasoline engines installed.
- Hopper 1050 - these walk-behind tractors are even more improved than the previous ones and allow you to work in areas of up to 90 acres. However, their cost is practically no different from the 1000 series models.
- Hopper 1100 - walk-behind tractors in this series are among the most powerful. You can see both diesel and petrol options. The Lifan engines installed in the units are distinguished by excellent endurance and long service life.
- Hopper MT - this series is a diesel walk-behind tractor. They are of the professional type, characterized by high power and quite impressive dimensions.
Run-in
An important point in extending the service life of a walk-behind tractor is running-in. This process does not take much time, but has a positive effect on engine performance. It consists of several stages:
- Check the oil and fuel levels. Top up if necessary.
- Start the engine and leave it running at medium speed.
- Do not increase speed for the next hour.
- Switch gears to test the walk-behind tractor.
- Start work without exceeding the engine load by more than 65% of the maximum.
- Change the oil after completing the break-in process.

Hopper 110 D9 has been on sale for quite some time. As practice shows, people willingly buy both new and used copies. For long-term use, it is better to take a closer look at a new car. But if financial possibilities are limited, the best option would be a supported walk-behind tractor with additional attachments. The price of such a modification will be an order of magnitude lower, even than that of a new car without attachments.
So, the recommended price of a completely new Khoper 110 D9 (with a diesel engine) is at least 50 thousand rubles, which is on average 7-8 thousand more expensive than the gasoline version. On the secondary market you can find a copy in good condition for 20 thousand rubles.
The Hopper 110 D9 is endowed with great potential and has undeniable advantages. Due to this, the walk-behind tractor successfully competes with domestic and foreign analogues. For example, among them we can highlight the models Patriot MBP 9.0, Neva MB-1N GP200 and Ugra NMB-1N1.

Owner reviews

- In 2013, I became the owner of a Hopper 900 walk-behind tractor. For me, this special equipment was simply necessary, since the year before I bought a large plot of land, and it turned out to be very difficult to process it manually. I bought a walk-behind tractor in the winter, since during this period they traditionally fall in price. Initially I thought about taking a cultivator, but due to its limited capabilities, the choice fell on a walk-behind tractor. In addition, the price tags for the Hopper 900 model were very reasonable. The equipment was supplied with cutters with a diameter of 350 mm, installed in place of the wheels. This model is quite compact, but the wings are not very conveniently made. My garage is small, so to drive the walk-behind tractor into it I have to remove one wing. The walk-behind tractor weighs quite a lot (about 80 kg). True, during operation this weight is practically not felt. The gasoline engine has enough power to work with virgin soil. The engine itself is made in China, but there were no problems with it during operation. I only filled it with AI-92 gasoline, which it ate perfectly. The starter is manual. The walk-behind tractor does not start right away; sometimes you have to pull it 3-4 times. In terms of noise level, the model is quite satisfactory. I also like the performance. It takes about 40 minutes to process 10 acres. During the period of operation, only the engine shutdown button failed. In other details, the Hopper 900 turned out to be impeccable.
- I bought a Khoper 1100 9B walk-behind tractor in 2014. It came with tools and a simple cutter. I chose the equipment because of its simple design and affordable consumables. The walk-behind tractor engine immediately showed its best side. With minimal consumption, it made it possible to quickly cultivate the land. Together with the trailer, the Hopper 1100 9B turned into a good vehicle. Certain design flaws were identified already in the first year of operation. This model does not have a fuel filter, which is very bad. Basic tires are of extremely low quality. After a year of use they cracked. After 2 years of operation, the mute button broke (I struggled with it for a long time, but fixed it on my own). The maneuverability of the equipment also leaves much to be desired. There were no other problems over the years of operation. In principle, the Khoper 1100 9B is a very decent walk-behind tractor for its price.
- The Hopper 1000U 5D left a pleasant impression. I chose a walk-behind tractor for heavy soil. Initially, the model suited everyone and coped with the job. True, minor modifications had to be made. It is better not to use the equipment with the basic configuration, since it is only suitable for soft soil. On heavy ground, it is very difficult to work with the Hopper 1000U 5D, and the performance here is minimal. You simply cannot do without additional lugs (sometimes weighting agents). The model served for 2 years without problems, after which it began to crumble. I threw out the base wheels almost immediately, then the muffling button broke, and the engine began to make a lot of noise. In the end, I decided to sell the walk-behind tractor.
- I worked with the Hopper MT-100E model for several years. I will say one thing - a great car. He processed 10 acres of his plot in the shortest possible time, after which he helped his neighbors (for an appropriate fee). The first time, plowing turned out to be quite difficult (my hands hurt a lot), since the walk-behind tractor had to be adjusted, but then the process noticeably accelerated. No need to hold equipment. You just need to slightly guide it and control the work. One of the advantages of the Hopper MT-100E is its minimal fuel consumption - it took me about 1.3-1.5 liters per hour. again I used the model as a transporter. The walk-behind tractor has a headlight, so you can carry loads even in the evening. I won’t say anything about the problems, since there haven’t been any yet (2 years of operation). I recommend this walk-behind tractor to everyone.
Attachments
Attachments can significantly expand the functionality of the Khoper walk-behind tractor. The main such equipment includes :
- Mowers . With walk-behind tractors from the manufacturer Khoper, you can use mowers from such brands as Belarus, Yarilo, MT3, Volodar, etc. You can use both rotary and segment mowers.
- Adapter . This device allows you to turn a walk-behind tractor into a means of transportation. Also, the function of an adapter can be performed by a trailer with a seat, either ready-made or home-made.
- Lugs . These devices allow you to loosen the soil. They can be purchased separately or in a set with other attachments.
- The plow is another common attachment. With Hopper walk-behind tractors, you can use accessories from any manufacturer.
- Snow blower . Snow blowers of sizes 1-1.5 meters, both metal and with a rubber lining at the bottom, are suitable for these walk-behind tractors.
- Potato diggers and potato planters . Without these devices, planting potatoes and then harvesting them is quite labor-intensive. This equipment can significantly save time and effort.

Regarding overheating, shots, sneezing, high fuel consumption. The ignition has nothing to do with it; it is basically not regulated there. It's all about the valves; sometimes you come across low-quality ones. Grind in, change, adjust and you will be happy.

The Lifan 168f2 is on the Pegasus snowmobile. Season 4, no trouble, started it up and drove off, an excellent engine and economical, I recommend it.

There is one on the OKA walk-behind tractor. Three years of constant use - no problems. I fill in synthetics - 5W30.

Our tankers are misbehaving with fuel. My engine gets so dirty in one hour that it stops working, only rebuilding the engine can save me. Naturally, the valves do not close against carbon deposits. However, our gas station even sends new VAZs to be rebuilt - they drive a kilometer and then end up dead. I landed the engine twice during the season and would have landed it a third time, but the season was over. If the engine starts sneezing and coughing, if the power drops, it is most likely gasoline. Change the fuel right away, and even dump the old one into a ditch - it will be cheaper. There are no other complaints about the engine.

The description says vertical crankshaft arrangement. I think it is horizontal. judging by the photo.

I don’t understand what happened?! It’s warming itself, “shooting” into the jammer! When it stalls, the flames come out of the muffler! No traction. Like late ignition. Could it go astray? Gasoline is consumed incredibly.
Sergey 11.05.2013 07:50
This winter I rebuilt the Gnome cultivator attachment; the engine for the attachment came from a Friendship or Ural saw. Lately the Ural was stuck on the saw, it pulled well enough for three years (the piston group was covered, the rings burst). So I installed and tuned the Lifan 6.5 hp engine, I tried it in the garage area, it works quite well, I don’t even need to give it gas, we’ll soon test it on hundreds of square meters.

Everyone received a huge thank you!

Reviews about the motor are purely positive. We replaced it with this Chinese motor, the old failed motor on the salute walk-behind tractor. Of all the proposed options, this one turned out to be the cheapest compared to its analogues. Not everyone is ready to spend 15,000 rubles (This is 2/3 of the cost of a new walk-behind tractor) on an expensive Subaru or Honda. And besides, on forums on the Internet they write that the Lifan actually has a sleeved cylinder and all the gears, unlike their expensive counterparts, are made of metal, not plastic.
Sergey 25.08.2012 09:06
problems with ignition, it heats up and immediately stalls, then it doesn’t go to the carburetor where the air purifier is. tell me what and how.
Dmitriy 30.05.2012 09:15
The engine is excellent. I recommend it to replace two-stroke engines. Heaven and earth.
Vanka 17.05.2012 21:53
