Specifications

Products can be classified by engine power and type.
Depending on the type, the manufacturer uses gasoline or diesel engines. The second options are more fuel efficient and produce more torque with the same power. However, when it comes to weight, products with a gasoline engine are lighter. They are also less noisy in operation and have less soot in the exhaust. As for the criteria by which the company’s walk-behind tractors are evaluated, in addition to the engine, these include speed, transmission, weight and control. Each model has its own characteristics, and therefore they should be considered individually, in relation to a specific model. For example, options have two gear speeds, weight up to 95 kg, and a mechanical clutch.

The engine type can be cylindered four-stroke with forced air cooling. The tank capacity can reach an average of 5 liters. The maximum torque can be 2500. The transmission type indicators can be -1, 0, 1.2.

Attachments

Motoblocks Don (popularly Donchak) have gained great popularity due to the wide range of work they perform. In essence, they are mini tractors that are designed for use on small or medium-sized plots.

Milling cutters

Most Don walk-behind tractors come with a set of cutters.

They are used to homogenize the top layer of soil and mix it. Due to the raising of the lower layer, the fertility of the soil and the amount of harvested crops increase.

Here is a video review of how soil is milled using a Don 105R walk-behind tractor:

Plows

Milling cutters are only good on prepared soils.

When working with virgin lands, they will not be able to enter them, and will constantly jump over. In this case, it is better to use a plow. It goes into the ground and allows you to cultivate an area with high soil density.

When working with a Don walk-behind tractor with a plow, the main task is to make the first trench. The plowing process then becomes much easier.

One wheel is placed in a rut, the hitch is immersed in the ground to the required level. Thus, when driving, each subsequent trench will bury the previous one.

Mowers

Cultivating virgin lands is not convenient from the point of view that they have a large amount of grass that wraps around the plow, cutters or wheels, thereby complicating the movement of the Donchak walk-behind tractor.

Therefore, it is recommended to remove weeds from the site before doing this.

Mowers will help with this. The manufacturer offers rotary versions of this attachment. Depending on the height of the grass, they can move at speeds of 2 to 4 km/h.

Mowers can be used by utility companies to maintain park areas or by residents of rural areas to make hay for the winter.

Potato diggers and potato planters

Most farmers make money from potatoes. This culture requires a lot of physical effort. Donchak walk-behind tractors together with special attachments: potato diggers and potato planters can make this work easier.

Thanks to them, you can sow the plot and harvest the crop much faster, while spending less effort.

Snowblowers and blade shovel

In the winter season, Don walk-behind tractors can help with snow removal. More powerful professional snow blowers are used by utility companies where it is necessary to clear snow over a large area.

If you need to clean the local area or the entrance to the garage, you can use ordinary shovels with Don walk-behind tractors.

Adapters and trailers

Many Don walk-behind tractors are professional and have a lot of weight. Therefore, they need to be constantly guided. In addition, owners have to walk behind their cars. Due to these factors, rapid fatigue sets in. To reduce physical stress on owners, special adapters are provided that allow operation while sitting.

When transporting goods, trailers are connected to Don walk-behind tractors. The most convenient dump truck models, which allow unloading by simply lifting the trolley from the front.

Wheels, tracks and lugs

For most work, pneumatic tires are used. equips its devices with wheels with a large diameter and hard tread.

Often there is not enough grip on the surface and the Donchak walk-behind tractor begins to slip. In these cases, you can replace regular tires with lug tires.

When moving on snow, another problem arises - a very slippery surface on which the walk-behind tractor cannot drive.

In this case, tracks can be installed that will increase traction due to greater contact with the surface.

User manual

Before starting full use of Donchak walk-behind tractors, new owners need to read the operating instructions. It provides information regarding the characteristics of the device and application features.

First launch and run-in

The Don walk-behind tractor is delivered disassembled. The assembly process must occur in accordance with the operating instructions.

Then you should add oil and gasoline, since these containers are empty.

The first six hours of using the Don walk-behind tractor should be in run-in mode. That is, it is necessary to put a minimum load on the engine. The ideal break-in option is driving with an empty trailer.

In eight hours, the engine parts will be thoroughly lubricated and begin to function correctly.

After break-in, you should change the engine oil, since it collects a large amount of mechanical impurities.

Below is a video review of the Don 900 device:

Service

The operating instructions contain a schedule for carrying out technical work.

  1. The engine oil should be changed every 25 hours of operation of the device. The ideal replacement option is 10W-30.
  2. The transmission oil should be changed after 100 operating hours with the Donchak walk-behind tractor. The instruction manual recommends using Tap-15v or TAd-17i.
  3. Control levers should be periodically lubricated with waterproof lubricants.

Basic faults and repairs

Every owner of Don walk-behind tractors should know how to repair basic faults:

If the engine does not start:

  • Check for oil and fuel;
  • Check the operation of the ignition system (there may be a problem with the spark plug);
  • See if fuel reaches the carburetor (the fuel filters may need to be cleaned);
  • Adjust the carburetor.

The engine does not run smoothly:

  • The contact on the spark plug comes off (fasten the wire securely);
  • Dirt or water has entered the fuel tank (drain the old fuel and fill with clean fuel);
  • The vent in the fuel tank is clogged (clean it);
  • Dirt has entered the carburetor (clean the fuel system and adjust the carburetor).

Donchak walk-behind tractors are not very reliable, and they produce vibration. If it has become too large, check the tension of the bolt connections on the engine, the tension of the gear belt and whether the hitch is securely fastened.

Engine malfunctions

Engine won't start

. If we are talking about a gasoline engine, when troubleshooting, it is necessary to consistently check all possible causes of problems, namely:

  • Turn on the ignition.
  • Availability of fuel in the tank.
  • Opening the fuel tap.
  • The condition of the carburetor air damper (it should be closed when starting a cold engine).
  • Fuel entering the carburetor. To do this, you need to fill the float chamber by pressing down the float button (fuel should start pouring out of the hole in the float chamber cover), or disconnect the fuel hose from the carburetor and check whether gasoline flows freely. If the fuel flows in too thin a stream or does not flow at all, this may indicate a dirty fuel filter in the tank or a clogged air valve in the tank cap. Repairing a walk-behind tractor in this case will come down to cleaning the filter or valve.

The supply of fuel to the engine cylinder may be indicated by the condition of the spark plug, which in any case must be checked when troubleshooting the ignition system. The spark plug is unscrewed from the cylinder cover, having previously disconnected the wire, and inspected. If it is dry, this means that the fuel mixture is not supplied to the cylinder. And if before this it was established that gasoline is entering the carburetor, then the reason for the engine not starting may be in the carburetor - contamination of its filter mesh, clogging of the nozzle or some other malfunction. Whatever it is, the carburetor needs to be removed, disassembled and cleaned, but this device is very complex and before repairing it you should at least look at the carburetor diagram.

A wet spark plug indicates that fuel is entering the cylinder. Sometimes the walk-behind tractor does not start due to an excess of fuel mixture, so if there is too much gasoline on the spark plug, you need to dry the cylinder by thoroughly “pumping” the engine with a manual starter with the spark plug turned out. Before doing this, you need to shut off the fuel supply.

If the spark plug is contaminated with carbon deposits, it should be cleaned with gasoline and fine sandpaper. It is also necessary to check the gap between the electrodes and, if necessary, adjust it in accordance with the requirements of the operating manual. Typically the gap should be about 0.8mm.

Owner reviews

Here's what owners of Donchak walk-behind tractors say:

Ivan:

“My attention was attracted by the price of the Don walk-behind tractor. The characteristics are the same as those of more expensive analogues. I understood that the quality would not be at the highest level, but the one-year guarantee still instilled confidence. In the end I was not disappointed. The engine runs stably and pulls without problems. True, the sound of the engine when receiving increased loads, like that of a wounded animal, can be heard throughout the entire village.

Pros: Value for money, quality and performance

Cons: Loud engine noise. I handle it carefully because I'm afraid of breaking it. Loud noise from the engine"

Peter:

“I bought a diesel model. It is more durable and consumes less fuel. It's better to overpay once than to do it all the time. As a result, I ran it in, as recommended in the operating instructions, and went to process it with cutters. The impressions are only positive. It breaks the earth finely, but not into grains of sand. It travels almost independently due to its heavy weight. Well, the electric starter is a big plus; my neighbor’s old MTZ will start in 10 minutes.

Pros: Simplicity of design, quality of cutters

Cons: I haven’t found it yet after two months of use”

Don Inter, DonChak and Kubanets walk-behind tractor - instructions on where the engine is assembled and who produces it

Many small companies producing agricultural equipment grew out of handicraft industries at a time when purchasing a walk-behind tractor or cultivator was much more problematic than making it yourself.

The products of such companies, as a rule, use a minimum of design tricks, since they belong to the lower price segment, where the most important are maintainability and availability of spare parts.

In this regard, the Rostov company Don-Inter, which produces Don and Senda walk-behind tractors, cannot be called an exception. These walk-behind tractors use cheap Chinese engines, the manufacturer of which is disguised by replacing identification data.

Since many companies produce engines of this type, it is not possible to establish exact data. If you need to search for spare parts for these engines, you should focus on compliance with the following Chinese model designations and their Japanese originals:

  • DON 168FA = HM168FA = Honda GX160
  • DON 168FB = HM168FB = Honda GX200
  • DON 170F = HM170F = Honda GX210

Since these engines are in the lineup of well-established companies such as ZongShen and Lifan, finding spare parts for Don walk-behind tractor engines should not be a problem.

Model range of walk-behind tractors from the manufacturer “Don – Inter”

The Don K-700 walk-behind tractor, the price of which is set by the manufacturer at 23 thousand rubles, is a typical representative of the family of compact budget walk-behind tractors.

DON 1100

The heavy walk-behind tractor Don 1100 (its weight is 110 kg) has a classic layout for such devices with a disk clutch and a direct motor drive instead of the belt drive common with light walk-behind tractors. The center of gravity of the walk-behind tractor is located above the wheel axle, which makes it easy to control despite its heavy weight.

However, since it uses the same seven-horsepower engine, the power of the walk-behind tractor may not be enough for difficult soils to cultivate. In addition, the Don 1100 walk-behind tractor has the following modifications:

  • The Don 1100A is 11 thousand rubles more expensive due to the use of a diesel engine instead of a gasoline engine, and an electric starter (model 1100AE) will add another 6 thousand to the price.
  • Don 1100AD and 1100AED are the most expensive versions (50 and 55 thousand rubles), they are distinguished not only by the use of a 178F diesel engine with a power of 6 horsepower, but also by the presence of a differential with the possibility of forced locking.
  • Don 1100AED is additionally equipped with an electric starter, which makes starting a diesel engine more comfortable. The Don 1100AED walk-behind tractor is the heaviest, weighing 143 kilograms.

DON 900 (Senda 900)

A lightweight walk-behind tractor with a belt drive and a two-speed gearbox, which also has a reverse speed. It is driven by a six-horsepower Senda 168FB petrol engine with a volume of 160 cubic centimeters.

The MTZ-82 model tractor can be called the real pride of the post-Soviet industry, the production of which began in the USSR, when the first model rolled off the assembly line in 1974. By clicking on the link, you will become familiar with the technical characteristics of this tractor.

Conventional transport is not suitable for moving through snowy areas, because it will simply get stuck in the snow, which is why people invented snowmobiles that allow you to drive along such “roads” as quickly as possible, without much effort. Ermak snowmobiles are quality, speed and reliability.

Using the Zhuk sprayer, you can feed plants, protect them from pests, destroy weeds, and also carry out a number of household works (washing windows, walls, disinfecting, priming, etc.). Here you will find the operating instructions for this sprayer.

The walk-behind tractor gearbox is heavier (the total weight of the walk-behind tractor, despite its small dimensions, is 74 kilograms), and the processing width is increased to 1200 millimeters.

Like other “Don” walk-behind tractors, this one is equipped with pneumatic wheels and a cultivator, and the rest of the attachments can be purchased for an additional fee.

DON 980

This walk-behind tractor is currently available only in a version with a differential (980D), which, combined with its large weight (125 kg), powerful nine-horsepower gasoline engine and gear reducer, makes it suitable for long-term work on heavy soils.

The gearbox of this walk-behind tractor also has two forward and one reverse speeds, the motor transmission is direct.

DON XS980

Unlike the previous walk-behind tractor, it does not have a differential, making it 10 kilograms lighter. It also has the XS980C variant - a walk-behind tractor equipped with a less powerful seven-horsepower engine. Both the Don 980 and Don XS980 provide a plowing width of 1100 millimeters.

Spare parts

As already mentioned, Don walk-behind tractors use widespread Chinese clones of Honda engines. Therefore, purchasing both engine parts and power or ignition systems is not a problem.

The issue with transmission parts is more complicated - despite its high reliability, sooner or later it will require repairs.

Since the manufacturer does not have a wide dealer network, to find spare parts for a walk-behind tractor like the Don K 700, you will have to contact the manufacturer directly, or select analogues from other units.

Engine disassembly and assembly

Let's consider the procedure for disassembling/assembling the engine of a Don walk-behind tractor using the 168F motor as an example, since it is a typical representative of its class - the procedure for repairing the motors of the following walk-behind tractors is absolutely similar: Texas, Foreman, Forza, Sadko, Huter, Profi, Plowman, Champion.

  • Drain the engine oil by removing the drain plugs and filler cap.
  • Remove the air filter cover and the filter itself, disconnect the gas tank and muffler from the brackets.
  • Disconnect the recoil starter housing and cooling fan housing from the engine.
  • Disconnect the speed control rod from the carburetor, and then remove the carburetor itself.
  • Remove the ignition coil.
  • Using a three-legged universal puller, press the fan (also known as the flywheel) from the crankshaft by unscrewing the nut securing it.

Please note that the fan blades are quite fragile, and damage to them will not only worsen the cooling of the motor, but will also lead to a noticeable increase in vibrations. It is also important not to lose the flywheel key.

Engine assembly is carried out strictly in the reverse order, taking into account the following:

  • All parts that rub against each other should be lubricated with engine oil before assembly;
  • When installing the camshaft, it is necessary to align the marks on the crankshaft and camshaft gears, otherwise the engine will be impossible to start;
  • After installing the cylinder head, set the piston to top dead center of the compression stroke (both valves must be closed), and adjust the valve clearances according to the manufacturer's instructions. Typically, they are 0.15 mm at the intake valve and 0.2 mm at the exhaust valve.
  • A common mistake is to adjust the valves not at compression TDC, but with a difference of one revolution - at exhaust TDC. In this case, the actual valve clearances will be much larger than the specified ones, which will lead to a loss of power and an increase in engine noise.
  • Do not allow dirt to get inside the crankcase both when assembling the engine and during its operation, otherwise damage to the connecting rod and crankshaft journal may occur.

Looking for a sample assembly

Having pulled the walk-behind tractor out of the trunk and assembled it, I set to work on the cutters and the work went smoothly, but there were not enough bolts and then I thought that I had assembled it incorrectly. When I started assembling it a second time, I realized that I was assembling it incorrectly again, simply because all the cutters were opposite each other, and the next ones had to be placed at an angle.

The worst thing is that nothing is clear from the instructions and photographs.

So, I had to look for photos of the Don walk-behind tractor on the Internet. As it turned out, the Don walk-behind tractor has other relatives that only differ in color and fuel tank. The first relative is the Senda walk-behind tractor (Senda) - I don’t know why they are made this way, but they differ only in the stickers, perhaps so that people have a choice. And when I was looking for photographs of the assembly of cutters, I found such a walk-behind tractor as Sadko, this is exactly the same as our Rostov walk-behind tractor Don. The assembly and operating instructions that I found can be downloaded below.

Assembly instructions for cutters for Don walk-behind tractor

  1. In the square part with holes for attaching cutters, find a hole in the center and insert a bolt into it.
  2. We put two cutters on the bolt and secure it with a nut, but do not tighten it. We begin to attach the cutters from the side where there are two holes in the shaft - this is the side towards the walk-behind tractor.
  3. We insert the second bolt, put on the third cutter and secure it with a nut.
  4. Now you need to install the third cutter so that everything can be secured with three bolts.
  5. The assembled cutter should look like this.

Filling oil

In principle, oil is poured into the engine on the market, but after transportation it is not a bad idea to let the oil drain and check the level. Transmission oil is poured into the transmission in a volume of 1.2 liters. Oil is also poured into the engine, but this time it is special for the engine.

Replacement periods and filling volume are indicated in the instructions.

It's important not to forget

That's all the basic adjustments. All that remains is to fill in 92 gasoline and let the walk-behind tractor idle for a while

.

As a result, the Don walk-behind tractor showed its best side and, according to reviews, turned out to be quite working, but at first I could not drive it, but only ran after it. I think that if you didn’t know how to drive a walk-behind tractor, then in half an hour you’ll learn how to operate it and the work will be much easier.

It uses a seven-horsepower Chinese 170F gasoline engine, equipped with a modified air filter and an engine oil level sensor that shuts down the engine if there is a lack of lubrication. The walk-behind tractor's gearbox has two forward speeds and one reverse.

The gearbox housing is aluminum; for an additional fee, a heavier cast iron one can be installed for processing heavy soils.

  • transport six- or eight-inch pneumatic wheels,
  • cutter-cultivator.

Additional equipment and spare parts for the Don K-700 walk-behind tractor can be purchased directly from the manufacturer or ordered by phone.

For more details about the operation of the Don K-700 walk-behind tractor, watch the video:

DON 1000

The Don 1000 walk-behind tractor is distinguished by an expanded cultivation working width (1000 mm), as well as a modernized gearbox. It has the same 170F engine with an oil air filter. For an additional fee, the walk-behind tractor is equipped with:

How to check the oil in the gearbox of a walk-behind tractor?

Monitor the amount of oil constantly. Otherwise, careless attitude to technology will lead to fatal consequences. Fresh oil is added every 50 hours. Along with this, excessive loads should be avoided, which ultimately lead to the rapid deterioration of mechanisms and components. Let's move on directly to changing the oil:

  1. We install the equipment on a flat area. We find a probe 70 cm long.
  2. The dipstick is bent and pushed into the oil fill hole until it stops, after which we remove the rod.
  3. We observe the oil level, which should be at least 25 cm. Add 2 liters of oil to the dry gearbox, at least 1.5 liters.

The filling oil must be GOST specific. It makes no sense to use cheap oil, because sooner or later it will cause breakdowns inside the walk-behind tractor gearbox.
