Gazelle Next minibuses and flatbed trucks are equipped with these engines. Engines with proper care will cover more than half a million kilometers. Gear ratios are optimally selected. The engine provides high dynamics on difficult sections of the road.

Attention! Modern vehicles from the Gas company have become more comfortable. The characteristics of engines installed in cars and minibuses have improved. The Gorky plant company sometimes enters into competition with foreign companies.

The newest GAZelle NN with a larger-volume gas-gasoline engine was shown in St. Petersburg

A double new product from the Gorky Automobile Plant - a car of the new GAZelle NN series with a new gas-gasoline engine - was presented at the X International Gas Forum, which takes place in St. Petersburg from October 5 to 8.

Production of new generation GAZelles started in Nizhny Novgorod in May of this year. At the Comtrans-2021 exhibition in Moscow in early September, the GAZelle e-NN electric truck and the GAZelle NN van with a Volkswagen diesel engine were shown. And here is another newest development - GAZelle NN CNG, running on gasoline and compressed methane.

This is a chassis equipped with an upgraded EvoTech 3.0 gas-petrol engine. Increasing the displacement of the power unit to 3 liters (compared to 2.7 liters for the previous version of the EvoTech 2.7 engine) increased power to 122 hp. when driving on gasoline (when driving on compressed gas - 106.8 hp), and the maximum torque is up to 250 Nm (220 Nm when driving on compressed gas).

The vehicle is equipped with gas cylinders of the first type with a total volume of 26 cubic meters (in the all-metal van version) to 42 cubic meters (on-board modifications). The cruising range of the bi-fuel GAZelle NN CNG is up to 750 km, including 300 km on gas.

During the modernization, more than ten important design changes were made to the Evotech 3.0 engine. Among the most important is the use of a cast iron cylinder block instead of the aluminum block installed on previous versions; new crankshafts, camshafts, cylinder head, piston and custom ignition coils. Thanks to the introduction of a forced oil cooling system for the pistons, the thermal stress of the pistons has been reduced, so the engine is perfectly suited for countries with hot climates, which expands the export capabilities of cars with the new engine.

At the same exhibition in St. Petersburg, a heavy (total weight of 10 tons) GAZon Next CNG, running exclusively on compressed methane, is being demonstrated.

Its distinctive feature is the vertical placement of gas cylinders directly behind the cabin. At the same time, the cylinders are covered with a plastic box, which does not spoil the appearance of the machine.

This arrangement of the cylinders leaves maximum space for the installation of special superstructures. On the basis of this chassis, vehicles with crane-manipulator installations, auto-hydraulic lifts, dump trucks, tank trucks, garbage trucks, combined road vehicles and other types of special equipment will be produced.

The vehicle is equipped with a YaMZ-534 CNG gas engine (maximum power - 170 hp, maximum torque - 600 Nm).

Features of Gazelle engines

The main feature of the American engine on the Gazelle Next is its Chinese assembly. Engine spare parts are delivered to the Middle Kingdom, assembled and sent to Russian factories for installation in the car.

If you choose from an American engine and UMP EVO Tech, then it is better to install the latter on the Gazelle. Because Russian low-quality fuel, cold winters, and the careless attitude of car owners spoil engines.

Characteristics of the Cummins ISF engine

Engines for Gazelle from Cummins ISF2 require careful care. The engine is equipped with heated fuel filters. Has a turbocharger.

The engine consists of four cylinders and is located freely under the hood of a domestic minibus. Engine dimensions: 606x641x632 mm. The weight of the motor is 214 kg.

Attention! Thanks to such a small size, this engine is even suitable for Gazelle Business.

It is equipped with an electronic injection system and Common Rail electromagnetic injectors. Such a system helps reduce vibration and noise levels of the engine.

The combined lubrication system carefully lubricates all engine parts. The intake manifold is heated, and the engine is cooled with liquid cooling.

All the engine heat is directed to heating the intake air, so the ignition of the fuel-air mixture is excellent.

Characteristics of the YaMZ 53441 motor

After some time, domestically produced diesel engines began to be installed on Next. Gasoline engines became the pioneers in this matter.

This is YaMZ 53441. They are four-cylinder, four-stroke, in-line. Like the first ones, they are equipped with turbocharging. But the turbine is cooled through charge air. An air-to-air heat exchanger is installed.

Such engines belong to the Euro 4 eco-class. An EGR system and a catalyst are used to neutralize harmful gases. The fuel supply is carried out by a system installed by Bosch.

Additionally, the following can be installed on domestic engines:

  • air conditioning compressor;
  • power steering pump;
  • compressor for air brakes.

The engine will be equally good at pulling these additional devices along with its main functions.

Upgraded Evotech engine

Over time, the diesel engine for the Gazelle Next was replaced by units presented by the Ulyanovsk Motor Plant. These are UMZ Evotech Turbo gasoline engines. First appeared on Gazelle Next since 2014.

The motor was created by the South Korean company Tenergy. Comes with a warranty of up to 3 years and 150,000 kilometers. This engine surpassed other engines with its power and economical fuel consumption.

The traction capacity of the Gazelle Next engine has been increased and the dynamics have improved. Ecological class not lower than Euro 5.

By adding valve timing, engineers managed to improve technical performance and reduce the volume of the Gazelle Next engine from 2.9 liters to 2.7 liters.

A new form of cooling system jacket was created. The efficiency of the motor as a whole has been increased. The main components of the engine, such as:

  • camshafts. One of which is called sharp due to the shape of the cams. The first can increase engine power, but reduce torque, the second does exactly the opposite;
  • the combustion chamber;
  • cylinder block

have been finalized. There are many parts installed made of impact-resistant, heat-resistant plastic. Thanks to innovative technologies, it was possible to minimize the weight of the engine. Reduced oil consumption. To avoid detonation, a microprocessor ignition system is installed on the engine.

Attention! Hydraulic compensators are supplied by Eaton, an American company, and spark plugs and pistons are supplied by South Korea. The pistons are coated with a polymer layer containing molybdenum disulfide. This anti-friction coating ensures the longevity of the pistons.

GAZelle NEXT received a new engine

How much will a Nizhny Novgorod semi-truck with an Ulyanovsk EvoTech 3.0 engine cost?

The Gorky Automobile Plant presented a new modification of the GAZelle NEXT GAZ-A31R26-50 car with an upgraded EvoTech 3.0 CNG engine from the UMP plant, codenamed A305. An all-metal van (TSMV) GAZ-A31R23 with a medium wheelbase and a high roof – “GAZelle NEXT L2H3” – was chosen as the base.

The engine of the GAZelle NEXT CNG van runs on both gasoline and compressed natural gas (CNG). The car is equipped with a new EvoTech 3.0 CNG bit-fuel engine with a displacement of 3 liters, which is a seriously modernized A275 gasoline engine. Increasing the working volume of the power unit to 3 liters (compared to 2.7 liters for the GAZ-A31R25-60 model with the EvoTech 2.7 A275 engine) made it possible to increase power to 120 hp. when driving on gasoline (on compressed gas 109 hp), and the maximum torque develops up to 252 Nm (or 225 Nm when driving on compressed gas).

The EvoTech 3.0 engine uses a cast iron cylinder block instead of aluminum, which reduces heat load and increases the stability of the power unit at high temperatures. As a result, changes had to be made to the crankshaft and timing belt: the crankshaft and camshaft, cylinder head and pistons were modified. As part of the A305 project, the engine design was adapted to provide power for a dual-circuit air conditioning system for minibuses and two compressors for refrigerated vans.

The vehicle is equipped with four gas cylinders with a total gas reserve of 33.2 cubic meters. For onboard modifications of the GAZ-A21R26-50, due to the freed up space in the base, the gas reserve reaches 41.6 cubic meters. The van's cruising range is up to 750 km, including 300 km on gas. Italian gas cylinder equipment Emer and OMVL are certified according to UNECE Regulation No. 110. The multi-level engine safety system includes a high-speed valve (limiting gas leakage in case of damage to gas tubes), a “fire valve” (ensures the release of gas when the temperature exceeds 100 °C), a safety valve a valve that ensures the release of gas when the pressure exceeds 300 atm.

At the end of October, at the GasSuf 2022 exhibition in Moscow, the GAZ plant is preparing new models of bi-fuel and gas engine equipment. Among which are expected fresh modifications of the GAZelle and GAZon family of cars. It is likely that starting prices will be announced for the GAZelle NEXT CNG model with the EvoTech 3.0 CNG engine, which is expected to start at 1.2 million rubles.
