Last Friday, Daimler and KamAZ signed an agreement under which the German automaker will annually supply its Russian partner with 7 thousand engines and 15 thousand axles. “We are talking about the supply of M 906 gas engines with a low level of environmental pollution with a power from 170 to 205 kW, as well as OM 457 diesel engines according to the Euro-5 standard with a power of 260-335 kW for buses,” noted KamAZ. The engines and axles are planned to be installed on KamAZ and NefAZ trucks and buses. In the future, the Russian company recalls, the partners are going to localize the production of bridges.

Production of trucks and buses with German engines and axles will start in January next year. “Part of trucks and buses with these engines and axles will be supplied to European countries,” the company noted. According to KamAZ's business plan, this year the company intends to export about 6 thousand trucks. True, the plant admits that deliveries to Europe are not currently being carried out precisely because the trucks do not comply with European environmental standards.

It is still unknown how the price of KamAZ trucks equipped with Daimler engines will change. “The pricing policy has not yet been discussed, we will look at the final configuration,” the company noted. Now the cost of KamAZ trucks with its own engine and a Cummins engine starts from 2.05 million rubles. “For the second month in a row, the price of KamAZ dump trucks or onboard vehicles with any engine is the same. Before this, a car with a Cummins engine was more expensive,” Rusbusinessavto (a KamAZ dealer) told RBC daily. They also noted that now there is only one truck model on the market - KamAZ-65226 - with a Daimler engine, but its cost is about 6 million rubles. “For comparison, the KamAZ-225 model with almost the same characteristics, but with a Cummins engine, costs about 3 million rubles. That is, the price with a German engine is twice as high,” the company noted.
