Ural Next tractors for extreme operating conditions

The Russian automobile manufacturer presented a new generation of products to the domestic market - the powerful Ural Next machine, designed for extreme operating conditions. Trucks are assembled at Avtomobilny JSC, which is located in the city of Miass, Chelyabinsk region.

The first module was exhibited in 2014 in a local square. In 2015, at the Moscow exhibition of construction equipment, a model range of new Urals was shown, after which they went on sale.

Exterior and interior

The main difference between the Ural Next vehicle and the previous versions of the Ural-4320 and 375D is the new cabin module, borrowed from the GAZon Next with an elongated hood.

The hood, power compartment trim, grilles and running boards are made of high-strength plastic. This is confirmed by impact crash tests. The cabin base, doors and sills are made of galvanized steel.

The body with a double cab reaches 2 m, thereby ensuring passive safety while driving. The doors are located high, so there are 3 steps, the lower of which is suspended on a flexible metal cable. An important advantage is the driver's quick and easy access to the power plant without lifting the hood.

The truck cabin has maximum ergonomics and is designed for 3 seats. The driver has a Grammer pneumatic seat, adjustable in height, and passengers have a standard soft sofa seat without adjustment.

The steering column is tilt adjustable. The steering wheel has a small diameter and is positioned vertically.

The front panel contains all the necessary instruments. The front axle is controlled and downshifts are engaged by pressing a key. The instrument panel contains LCD displays, USB connectors, and shows complete information about the operation of the systems. The cabin contains an on-board computer and a powerful heater.

The wide windshield creates a large view of the area while the vehicle is moving. Electric windows are included as standard.

The car is equipped with an on-board 12 V power supply system. The lighting equipment is represented by Hella lensed lighting equipment and Osram front combination headlights. To protect the mechanisms, anti-slip pads are installed on the bumpers and fenders.

The new Ural is equipped with an economical 4-stroke in-line liquid-cooled YaMZ-536 engine with a power of 312 hp. With. It is possible to install derated diesel engines of 240 and 285 hp. With.

A special feature of the new diesel engine is the presence of a standardized SAE1 flywheel housing for installing different transmissions.

Transmission

Next truck Urals are equipped with 2 types of gearboxes:

  • German mechanical 9-level gearbox ZF 9S1310TO;
  • Gearbox YaMZ-1105 with 5 stages.

The domestic transmission system is used for budget cars. The ZF gearbox is more reliable, economical and has a long service life.

Modifications

The company recently released 3-axle Ural truck tractors that tow semi-trailers in any terrain. They operate at air temperatures from -45 to +40°C. The truck received a two-row extended cab with 3 doors and a Dong Yang SS1926 up to 7 tons mounted behind the crane. The boom reach reaches 19.8 m.

The Ural Next 3255-5013-71-28 rotation bus is widely popular among enterprises operating in the Far East. The module is characterized by a 6x6 wheel arrangement, a large number of seats for people and a northern design.

Among the future projects is the Ural mainline tractor with a gas-diesel engine, right-hand drive and a 2-row cab with a sleeping bag. For 2018-19, it is planned to release new off-road platforms with a carrying capacity of up to 27 tons in a 6x4 configuration.

Modern modifications of the Urals are presented as follows:

  • tilt and dump platforms;
  • shift worker;
  • cargo-passenger vehicles with CMU;
  • tractor unit;
  • tanker.

Dump truck

The main purpose of the Ural Next 10-ton dump trucks is to transport various bulk construction materials and cargo on roads with any type of surface, so they are equipped with a dump platform with 3-way unloading (back and 2 side) and have a 6x6 wheel arrangement. The body is lifted by a hydraulic tipping mechanism.

The equipment is equipped with in-line engines YaMZ-53613-10 of Euro-5 eco-class with a power of 312 hp. p., 9-speed gearbox ZF 9S1310TO. In addition to the main fuel tank with a capacity of 300 liters, there is an additional tank with a capacity of 180 liters.

Timber truck

The Next timber carrier is used for transporting logs and logs up to 23 m using special rotary bunks of the tractor and a dismantling trailer. The bunks are of welded type, the base and folding posts are connected by hinges. For towing, a towing crossbar in the form of a backlash-free fork-earring is used.

The following models of log carriers are available on the market:

Firefighter

The first fire tank on a Ural chassis, 10 m long, was manufactured by the Chaika-Service company from Nizhny Novgorod under the name ATs-6.0-70 (4320) model 2784UF-Taiga.

The water supply is 6000 liters, the foam concentrate volume is 360 liters. Special equipment is represented by the Miassovsky pump NTsPN-70/100 M2 with a capacity of 70 l/s, classic hoses and branches. On top of the machine there is a 3-leg ladder, an assault rifle and suction hoses. The cabin has 4 seats for soldiers in full gear. The curb weight of the car is 14360 kg.

Gasoline tanker

A representative of Next fuel tankers is the 4320-6952-72E5G38 module, which has a large capacity on the chassis for transporting flammable materials. The tank is made of a 4 mm thick steel shell with an elliptical cross-section. At the top of the structure there is a neck for draining liquid, a service platform and a ladder.

The tank has additional protection against damage and shock. Fastening is carried out with tensioning tapes, some of which are equipped with spring compensators.

Onboard

Among the onboard models of the Urals, there are 2 types:

  • with a tent or metal platform;
  • army in camouflage.

The Next onboard vehicle is used to transport various cargo weighing up to 9 tons on a platform with sides. The army bus is designed to transport personnel and cargo and has armored protection for fuel tanks.

Rotation bus

The Ural rotation bus is a powerful cargo-passenger vehicle that is used to deliver work crews and equipment to shifts. For 2018, the following car models are produced:

  • 32552-5013-71E5 with a 4x4 wheelbase, passenger capacity up to 20 people;
  • 3-axle 3255-5013-71E5 with the number of seats - 22+6;
  • 32551-5013-71E5 according to the formula 6x6 and for 20 seats.

Cargo-and-passenger shift workers work in areas where pipelines and power lines are operated, where there are often no hard road surfaces, and CMUs are often installed on them.

Truck crane

The Chelyabinets truck crane on the Ural Next all-wheel drive chassis is designed to transport a team of workers consisting of 7 people and carry out construction, installation, loading and unloading work at sites. For these purposes, the 3-axle device is equipped with a 2-row 7-seater cabin, a removable 2-seater mounting cradle, capable of working at a height of up to 24.6 m. The tonnage of the machine is 25 tons, the boom length is 21.7 m.

Motorhome

A representative of a motorhome is the Ural Next Motorhome based on a military KUNG. The machine is equipped with a reinforced frame van with bevels on a 40 mm thick insulation with an external casing made of galvanized steel, coated with a powder-polymer composition. All seams are treated with high quality sealant. The internal lining is made of laminated plywood. The floor in the car is covered with transport linoleum.

The motorhome package includes:

  • air conditioner;
  • electric winch with a force of 8.1 tons;
  • 2 luggage boxes with a capacity of 70 l each;
  • Webasto heater;

“Ural NEXT” inspires: from a dump truck to... a long-haul tractor!

Serial production of the new generation of Ural NEXT vehicles will begin only in the fall, but the interest in them is so great that special manufacturers have already begun working on options for installing various superstructures, and designers have started creating the most fantastic incarnations of this extraordinary truck.

(LLC "Ural ST") from Miass manufactured three prototypes on the chassis of the new "Ural NEXT": an onboard vehicle "Ural NEXT 4320-6951-74" with a CMU "Inman IM 150", a dump truck with three-way unloading "Ural NEXT 5557-6121 -74" and the ATZ 11-2 UST 5453 fuel tanker. All three new products were demonstrated at the automobile stand at the 16th International Specialized Exhibition "Construction Equipment and Technologies 2015" in Moscow. The plant has received Vehicle Type Approval for all three vehicles, which makes it possible to begin their production.

The military also managed to set their sights on Ural NEXT. In June, at the International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2015" (held in Kubinka near Moscow), the tactical truck "Ural 4320-6951-70" with a unified NEXT cabin and on-board platform was shown. The total weight of the new army product is 22.5 tons, the load capacity is 12.5 tons. The car is equipped with a 285-horsepower YaMZ-5364210 turbodiesel (in-line six, modified to meet military requirements) and a 5- or 9-speed gearbox made in Yaroslavl.

And last week, the Runet was literally blown up by images of the “Ural NEXT” in the form of... a long-haul tractor with a huge “sleeping bag”! As it turned out, the Ural all-terrain vehicle was turned into a “truck driver” by Russian designer Sergei Barinov.

In an interview with the online magazine Cardesign.ru: Transport Design, Sergei admitted that the idea for the project was born as soon as he saw the new Ural NEXT. Designer Barinov believes that the GAZelle cabin suited the requirements of a heavy off-road truck just perfectly and fell into place “like a glove,” and the plumage also fit very harmoniously. And in general, “the car looks really cool. He is brutal and charismatic, while the DNA of his harsh ancestor is felt.”

When creating his design project, Sergei Barinov was guided by modern Freightliner and Kenworth tractors, since the Americans are recognized trendsetters in the creation of long-range “bonnet” trucks. As a result, two main versions of the mainline “Ural NEXT” were born, which differ in a number of details (different bumpers, lighting equipment, radiator linings, exhaust gases were discharged differently, etc.).

Sergey doesn’t know whether he’ll be interested in working on a car; the project was created on his own initiative, on an emotional outburst. But even if the designers and marketers in Miass had never thought of anything like this before, now they should think about creating, for example, a prototype of such a “truck driver” - and what a cool show-stopper it could be!

However, it is hardly worth talking seriously about the serial production of mainline “bonnets” according to the American model in Miass: neither the Ural Automobile Plant, nor the GAZ Group, of which the plant is part, have neither the funds nor the resources. And the experience of the Minsk Automobile Plant, which in 2011-2012 created two experimental truck tractors with a hood arrangement (MAZ-6440), should be alarming: the company was confident that such a car would be in demand in the CIS, but it would not collect orders for the Belarusian “American” it didn’t work out...
