Chemical tanks are made of special AISI 316 stainless steel, which belongs to the AISI 304 class, but with the addition of molybdenum to the alloy. Thanks to molybdenum, steel is especially resistant to corrosion, high temperatures and aggressive chemicals.

For the transportation of bulk chemicals, rubberized tanks are used, which are used for the transportation and temporary storage of aggressive acidic - alkaline cargo, since the internal surface is covered with mastic based on bitumen resin and a number of other protective materials, products that, due to their properties, provide reliable protection of the internal containers of the semi-trailer tank from corrosion. In addition, tanks made of composite materials such as fiberglass are used to transport acid-base substances with aggressive, corrosive properties.

Most tanks have a multi-layer welded structure. The inner container is made of a material that is durable and at the same time inert with respect to liquid. The outer casing is shockproof and resistant to external influences. The middle layer is made of a non-flammable, often thermally insulating substance.

To protect from direct sunlight, a casing is often mounted on top.

To reduce the intensity of inertial vibrations in flammable liquids, the internal tank is divided by vertical breakwater partitions.

There are tanks whose internal space is divided into several independent compartments with individual control and filling systems.

The location of the substance loading/draining systems in the upper or lower part of the container depends on the type and properties of the cargo.

Control systems and sensors, according to GOSTs and international recommendations, are located in an isolated technical compartment. A compartment protected by a hatch is equipped in the top, side or end part of the outer housing.

Monitoring the condition of the cargo during transportation in a tank is provided by thermometers, pressure gauges, liquid level indicators, breathing valves and for pressure relief, cooling or heating systems.

Food

Tanker trucks for the transportation of liquid food products (food tanks) are used for transportation, temporary storage, delivery to the point of sale and to processing points food liquids with a density of no more than 1.03 g/cm3. Filler and drain pipes are reliably protected from frost in winter.
