ChTZ B-10M: technical characteristics of the bulldozer, fuel consumption

One of the most reliable and frequently used bulldozers of the 10th traction class is the B10M. This model of equipment is reliable and has outstanding performance parameters. The main purpose is to work with soils of categories 1-3 without preliminary loosening, as well as category 4 with preparation for processing.

The B10M bulldozer is a tractor for cultivating soil and for solving a large number of different tasks at a construction site and when felling timber. The basis for the creation of this equipment is tractors such as T-10 and T-170. The main differences between the B10M and its prototypes are the following points:

  • The design uses special long-stroke hydraulic cylinders;
  • the suspension beam is used together with a special balancer;
  • placement of main components in the engine compartment;
  • productivity increased by 20%.

Can be used under different climatic conditions and temperature conditions.

Bulldozer B10M: history of creation

Tractors such as T-10 and T-170, despite their outstanding performance characteristics and other advantages, are obsolete. That is why at a certain moment there was a need for a more powerful analogue. It was the B10M bulldozer. This equipment was developed at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant - ChTZ.

industrial tractor T-170 was produced in the years 1988-2002. – also at ChTZ. At the moment, there are just under a hundred modifications of this tractor. Despite the fact that this model has ceased to be produced, it still continues to be used. Primarily due to the low price, as well as unpretentiousness.

An inexperienced eye may confuse the T-170 and the B10M bulldozer. Since when creating a newer tractor, the chassis from the T-170 was used. But that's actually where the similarities end. The B10M is equipped with more powerful engines and is also more productive. Immediately after the production of the T-170 ceased, the first B10M rolled off the production line.

Purpose

The B10M bulldozer, the photo of which is presented below, is a special machine - a ripper-bulldozer complex of traction class 10, just like the T170.

It is capable of moving soils of categories I–III, even if they have not been previously loosened, but frozen (with a temperature of minus 50 Celsius), belonging to category IV and fractured rock with preliminary crushing of the rock.

The ripping attachment of this bulldozer is replaced by a traction winch without making changes to the design of the machine. With it, it is used in eliminating the consequences of natural disasters and emergencies, as well as in construction, logging work (like the ZIL-157 dump truck).

The vehicle is maneuverable, has good maneuverability, it can be used in various climatic conditions - both in the Arctic and in the tropics, as well as in the mountains (at an altitude of up to 3 thousand meters) and in conditions of heavy dust.

Technical characteristics of B10M

The technical characteristics of the B10M deserve special attention. They are what make it one of the most popular tractors in its class. Today the B10M has only one foreign analogue, which is comparable both in price and parameters - this is the Chinese bulldozer Shantui sd16. But the domestic analogue is several times easier to repair.

YaMZ has more power and is easier to start, but at the same time fuel consumption is significantly higher. It should be remembered that there are significant differences in designs.

YaMZ is more expensive to maintain and is more difficult to deal with.

Transmission

The B10M bulldozer uses a standard mechanical gearbox to transmit torque - three-speed, planetary, reversible. A two-stage gearbox with spur gears is used. The box uses a total gear ratio of 14.79. The driving mechanism is a sector gear reducer. The hubs are installed by spline mounting.

Cabin B10M. Bulldozer control

The technology in question uses a frame, rigid metal cabin. Its most significant advantage is the all-round visibility - 3600 around the car. The main features of the B10M workplace are the following:

  • special heating installation, multi-mode - allows comfortable operation even in the Far North;
  • in some models, an additional oil heater is installed for operation at critically low temperatures;
  • A PILOT type driver's seat is installed (it is comfortable and vibration-proof).

On request, it is possible to additionally install special protection for the driver from objects falling from above. Which is especially convenient in conditions of forest felling and construction work.

Winch control

It is possible to install a winch, the torque to which is transmitted through the power take-off shaft. Allows you to perform the following actions:

  • towing work - especially convenient when laying communications in the ground;
  • elimination of various rubble;
  • cutting down glades and other similar works;
  • work to restore communication on the railway;
  • other.

Control is carried out using additional levers installed in the cab. Special hydraulics make it possible not to use excessive force when turning on/off the winch on the B10M.

Chassis (transmission)

The difference between the B10M.08 can be considered a meaningful and redesigned transmission. The consequence of this processing was an increase in the overall efficiency of the device while maintaining fairly easy control of the device. This became possible due to the abandonment of the four-shaft gearbox and its replacement with a serial planetary one. Reduction of dynamic loads in the transmission was achieved due to an elastic coupling mounted directly in the engine flywheel housing. The clutch includes a torsion shaft that is not adjustable or controlled.

Modifications of the bulldozer B10M

At the moment, only two modifications of the bulldozer in question are common. One is standard, the second is used in conditions of high humidity, in swamps. They differ not only in appearance, but also in layout and chassis. These models are marked as follows:

  • B10M.0111-1E – standard basic modification;
  • B10MB.0121-2B4 – modification for work in swamps.

B10M.0111-1E has the following performance characteristics:

  • D-180 engine is installed;
  • transmission – mechanical;
  • number of skating rinks – 5;
  • the engine is started using a special starting motor - P-23U;
  • attachments installed at the rear of the chassis are used;
  • front attachment – ​​hemispherical blade of class “E”.

Basic modification - B10M.0111-1E

The swamp modification has some significant differences, which relate primarily to the layout.

Model B10MB.0121-2B4 has the following features:

  • engine - YaMZ-326N-3 (a more powerful unit is required due to the use of equipment on soft soils);
  • transmission is only mechanical;
  • total number of track rollers – 7 pcs.;
  • the engine is started using an electric starter;
  • a pendulum tow hitch is always used at the rear;
  • in the front part there is a mounted straight fixed shaft without hydraulic distortion - type “B”.

Visually, the B10M modifications differ from each other only in the presence of attachments included in the basic package. The usual model B10MB.0121-2B4 looks like this:

Models B10M2 and B10M.6100 are slightly more rare. Model B10M2 has the following distinctive features:

  • cabin with double glazed windows;
  • speed control is carried out automatically, directly by the transmission;
  • An impressive transmission resource is ensured by rolling bearings and DUO CON seals.

A distinctive feature of the B10M.6100 bulldozer is the use of a unique hexagonal cabin. This is precisely its main advantage. Since this type of shape allows you to maximize the all-round visibility of the driver. Also worth mentioning are:

  • Sliding bearings are used - due to which the life of the running system is increased;
  • The inside of the cabin is covered with a thick layer of noise-absorbing materials, making work in it as comfortable as possible.

You can often find models B10PMB.0121-1B4 and B10PM.0101-EN on sale. The first is used to perform various tasks in marshy areas. The second one is specially designed to perform tasks at training grounds.

Operating experience of the B10M bulldozer. Advantages and disadvantages

The B10M bulldozer has been in operation for more than 10 years in a row. During all this time, all its main advantages and disadvantages have been identified. The number of positive aspects is many times greater than the negative ones. But it is the shortcomings that you should pay the closest attention to before purchasing. Today these include the following:

  • the D-180 type engine has a slightly shorter service life compared to a similar YaMZ one;
  • for stable operation without critical breakdowns, it is necessary to change all consumables on time;
  • In severe frost, hydraulic system hoses lose their elasticity and may burst - it is necessary to monitor their condition when working in the Far North.

Most often, problems arise with the servo drive of this type of bulldozer. Usually, oil begins to leak out from under the rod seal first. Moreover, in some cases, replacing the servo drive with a new one does not help. It would be possible to solve this kind of problem as follows:

  • replacing the rubber ring near the servo rod seal;
  • sometimes the diameter of the new oil seal on the rod will not match - earlier modifications had a smaller size (check the size with a bore gauge)
  • check the pressure in the return system - if there is foam in the oil, the breather is clogged

The following problems also often arise when operating this bulldozer:

  • low pressure level due to oil leakage from the hydraulic system through the seals;
  • For some reason, air enters the hydraulic system;
  • The hydraulic tank filter becomes clogged - this may result in swelling of the pipes.

Most problems can be avoided by timely replacement of filters, as well as other consumables. The most significant advantages include:

  • ease of operation and repair - spare parts can be purchased both new and on the secondary market;
  • low cost of repairs and the bulldozer itself;
  • a large number of additional, attachments;
  • the comfort of the driver’s cabin – its parameters comply with all current European standards.
