UAZ Hunter and UAZ-469 repair manual, maintenance, operation

Appearance

Let's take a look at the exterior of the car, which has remained virtually unchanged since the time of the 469 model. All the same cubic chopped shapes and complete minimalism. But this is one of the advantages of the car. It is, after all, designed to move where other SUVs cannot reach. And there is no need for extra elements on the body for this.

The appearance of the car has long been familiar. All the same two horizontal bars with wide stripes rounded at the edges, acting as a radiator grille, round protruding headlights below which the fog lights are located. Interestingly, there are no turn signals in front at all; they are located on the side near the windshield. The bumper also remained unchanged - a regular stamped beam with hooks on top. And most importantly - no plastic.

The part of the body reserved for the interior is shaped like a glazed box. The only noteworthy thing about the side of the car is the protruding body stamping that forms the wheel arches. Nobody hid the door curtains; they remained outside the body. But there is already finishing plastic here, which is used on the door handles and as the housing of the side mirrors.

The rear of the car is vertical. The 5th door is a folding door, it consists of two parts and the spare wheel is attached to the lower one. The rear lighting equipment is very simple and consists of two vertical block headlights that combine brake lights and turn signals.

In general, the exterior of the car is very simple and without any frills. But such minimalism is often only a plus, especially for lovers of all kinds of tuning.

Cars of the UAZ-469 family operating manual (OM)

3rd edition - 1989

This Operation Manual repeats that published by Ulyanovsk Automobile, eleventh edition, 1984.

The operating manual is intended for military personnel directly related to the use of UAZ-469 family vehicles.

INTRODUCTION

The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant produces cars of the UAZ-469 family of the following models:

UAZ-469+ is a utility vehicle with shielded electrical equipment, a starting heater, and drive axles with wheel reducers providing high ground clearance;

UAZ-469B+*—a utility vehicle with drive axles without wheel reduction gears;

UAZ-469BG++** is a medical aid vehicle for rural areas based on the UAZ-469B vehicle.

The vehicles are two-axle, all-terrain, 4X4 type, with an open universal body with a removable soft top and a tailgate.

The UAZ-469 and UAZ-469B vehicles are designed to transport passengers and cargo, and the UAZ-469BG - medical personnel and patients on all roads of the general network of the USSR, as well as terrain, and are designed for operation with ambient temperatures from plus 50 ° C to minus 45 °C.

At the same time as transporting passengers and cargo, the UAZ-469 vehicle can tow a single-axle trailer.

The UAZ-469B vehicle is not designed for continuous operation with a trailer; long-term operation with a trailer is allowed only if it has nine-leaf rear springs and a towing device with a shock-absorbing device.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Security measures

1. Before leaving, check the serviceability and reliability of closing the locking mechanisms of the hood and body doors.

2. Take precautions when using low-freezing liquids to exclude the possibility of introducing them into food, entering the body, etc.

Sucking liquid into your mouth using a hose is prohibited.

* The manual is accompanied by an addendum on shielded electrical equipment.

++ On some vehicles a starting heater may be installed. * Some vehicles may be equipped with a starting heater and shielded electrical equipment. ** The manual is accompanied by an addendum for operating the UAZ-469BG vehicle.

3. Observe the following rules when using leaded gasoline:

— do not suck gasoline into your mouth through the hose;

— do not use gasoline for washing hands and car parts, cleaning clothes and other needs;

- do not let gasoline that gets on your skin dry, but immediately wash the area with clean kerosene or wipe dry with a clean rag;

- Do not spill gasoline in a car or in an enclosed area. Wipe the spilled area with a rag soaked in kerosene and let it dry;

— before washing, remove clothes doused with gasoline and dry them outside (for two hours). Repair workwear only after washing;

— after working with gasoline, wash your hands thoroughly (preferably with warm water and soap);

— before handing over the vehicle for repair, clear the fuel tanks, fuel lines and carburetor of any remaining gasoline;

- remember that carbon deposits from leaded gasoline are poisonous; to prevent carbon particles from entering the respiratory system when scraping, you should moisten it with kerosene.

4. It is prohibited to warm up the engine in a closed room without good ventilation to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.

5. Use caution when opening the engine cooling system radiator cap to avoid burns from steam.

6. Do not heat car components with an open flame.

7. Observe the following rules when using the starting heater:

— while warming up the engine, constantly monitor the operation of the heater until it turns off;

— keep the starting heater and engine clean. Engine oiling (especially its crankcase) and fuel leakage can cause a fire;

— open the fuel tank tap only while the starting heater is operating;

— keep the heater fuel tank without fuel in summer.

8. Disconnect the battery after finishing the vehicle operation and in case of a short circuit in the electrical wires.

Features of UAZ Hunter suspensions

The front unit of the car is implemented using springs, while the rear unit uses longitudinal springs.

Front suspension device

It consists of the following key parts:

  • cylindrical springs;
  • oil shock absorbers;
  • anti-roll bar;
  • two longitudinal rods;
  • lateral thrust.
  • two kingpins on both sides.

The rods, together with the transverse rod, provide the necessary fixation of the bridge, which, in turn, determines the operational characteristics of the machine. The rods are connected to the bridge through appropriate brackets and silent blocks, and to the frame using brackets and rubber hinges. A rubber buffer limits the maximum permissible suspension travel, and oil shock absorbers dampen vertical vibrations.

Front and rear shock absorbers are not interchangeable because one is longer than the other in compression position.

Rear suspension device

It consists of 2 longitudinal springs and 2 oil shock absorbers. A rubber buffer limits the maximum vertical travel of the bridge beam, 2 shock absorbers dampen the resulting vibrations. Stepladders are used to attach the springs to the bridge. The springs with their front ends are fixed to the frame using bushings, and the rear ends are hinged using earrings and bushings.
