UAZ Uzola is produced at ZVM (All-Terrain Vehicles Plant), located in Nizhny Novgorod. It is made on the basis of the ZVM 2411 tracked chassis and its modifications. It is produced in passenger, cargo-passenger and cargo versions based on the UAZ-39094 and UAZ-2206 bodies. UAZ all-terrain vehicles of the Uzola series have a rear drive sprocket and asphalt-passable tracks. They belong to the class of especially light all-terrain vehicles and are used to move small loads and small groups of people over snow, water, ice, swamps and weak-bearing surfaces.

Model range of UAZ Uzola

UAZ Uzola models are presented in four modifications:

  1. ZVM 2411P. It has a solid metal body, as well as a passenger-and-freight interior that can accommodate up to 7 passengers. The layout is standard carriage. Load capacity up to 550 kg.
  2. ZVM 2411G. It has a small two-seater cabin and a large metal cargo platform.
  3. ZVM 2411GP. It has an extended five-seat cabin and a small metal cargo platform.
  4. ZVM 2412GP. This is the only front-wheel drive model in the series. It has a spacious five-seater cabin and a small cargo platform.

UAZ Uzola models are distinguished by the lowest coefficient of pressure exerted on the ground (up to 12.5 kPa). This is a very low figure, achievable only on pneumatic all-terrain vehicles.

UAZ showed “Loaf” on tracks and skis

The UAZ company published on its Instagram a photo of a very rare modification of the “Loaf” van called 451C. Especially for driving in snowy areas, the car was equipped with metal steerable skis and rubber tracks. In the absence of snow cover, this equipment could be dismantled and replaced with ordinary wheels.

The company said that the model was developed in 1960. At the same time, UAZ did not specify how many copies of the snowmobile version of the van were produced. The total weight of such a vehicle was 3063 kilograms. On virgin snow the car could accelerate to 20 km/h. In the comments, users positively assessed the unusual “Loaf” and joked that such a machine would be especially useful in this snowy winter.

At the moment, several companies have developed special versions of their cars for driving on snowy slopes. Thus, Nissan presented a special roadster based on the 370Z model. Instead of the front wheels, the car had skis, and the rear wheels were replaced with tracks. In the process of creating the prototype, which was called the 370Zki, Nissan engineers had to completely rework the suspension, widen the car's wheel arches, and raise the roadster's body by three inches.

In turn, Kia presented a concept crossover on tracks. The car is built on the basis of the Sorento Prime and is equipped with an autonomous control system. The machine was developed specifically to deliver skiers to the top of the slope and can move on snow and ice. The company itself positions the car as an “unmanned ski lift.”

Advantages of the model

Before you buy a UAZ Uzola, you should familiarize yourself with its characteristics and advantages. The snow and swamp-going vehicle can be equipped with two types of engines:

  1. Gasoline ZMZ 409 with forced fuel injection with a capacity of 150 l/s.
  2. Diesel ZMZ 514 with a capacity of 110 l/s.

When purchasing an all-terrain vehicle with a gasoline engine, you receive a hinged hatch, a water pump and a bracket for a winch. The engine, depending on driving style and road conditions, can consume from 25 to 32 liters of fuel. The consumption of a gasoline engine is slightly higher. The power unit and suspension allow you to reach speeds of up to 60 km/h in off-road conditions.

Uzola can move freely through sand, snow, mud and swamps. The device can also swim due to the rotation of the tracks at a speed of up to 5 km/h. Additionally, you can equip the all-terrain vehicle with a mounted motor, which will significantly increase the speed of movement on the water surface.

If you decide to buy a UAZ Uzola, you have made the right choice. All all-terrain vehicle units are domestically produced, so they are always on sale at an affordable price!

I already wrote about the tracked UAZ 469, which is called Ukhtysh. Now about the modification of the UAZ 452

So handsome, by the way, look at the photo:

The especially lightweight tracked snow and swamp-going vehicle "Vetluga" is designed for transporting goods and people in off-road conditions, virgin snow, swamps, and is also capable of swimming across water obstacles.

A little history

Tanks, and therefore tracked vehicles, have been around for a long time. At the same time, Russian military engineers thought that it would be nice to create unique, universal tracked vehicles that would have high maneuverability and be able to cope with any strength test.

Such equipment was in demand, because the vast expanses of Russia could not please everyone with good roads; in this situation, such powerful semi-tanks would be needed. But due to bureaucratic red tape and a host of other projects, the implementation of this idea was postponed each time. Engineers submitted their applications to their superiors dozens of times, wanting to continue development, but were refused. This idea was only brought out of the archives in the early sixties.

In 1962, the first UAZ on a caterpillar mechanism was tested. The management was delighted. Strong, majestic, albeit not so fast, but stable and passing on any off-road, the UAZ fascinated with its confidence and self-sufficiency.

In addition to tracks, at the same time they began installing skis instead of wheels on UAZs. So the SUV could pass through the endless snow-covered expanses of Siberia. During the test, the car easily drove from Novosibirsk to Ulyanovsk on the worst roads in a fairly short time. The bosses praised the new development and... went about their business. The car was never put into production; the issue was still being resolved.

In the nineties, caterpillar tracks again became topic No. 1; another generation of engineers corrected past shortcomings, such as heavy handling and slipping in heavily snowy areas. At the beginning of the 2000s, the general public saw this amazing product of daring engineering, a project created half a century ago. Today everyone can buy a UAZ tank, and the prices for it are quite affordable.

Tracked single-link all-terrain vehicle TTS-34012 Vetluga

The body of the all-terrain vehicle is made of displacement: the lower part is a sealed boat, the upper part of the body is borrowed from the UAZ 452 and has retained all the properties of convenience, visibility, ergonomics and aesthetics. In terms of convenience, I would argue, of course. But if you make high-quality tuning of the loaf, then of course yes...

The power plant includes the power unit ZMZ-406, 405, 409, 514, GAZ-560 or MMZ 245.7. The car has a mid-engine layout. Cooling is organized by blowing air from side to side through a powerful radiator of the cooling system.

The transmission has a four-speed gearbox synchronized in all gears and a UAZ transfer case with a low-range range.

The main gear is a bevel pair with a spiral tooth installed in a housing, combined with a control mechanism consisting of on-board multi-disc clutches. Final drives are single-stage cylindrical.

The driving star wheels are located in the front part of the body, which ensures good snow clearance of the caterpillar belt. The all-terrain vehicle's suspension is independent, balanced with a beam torsion bar. The chassis has six paired pairs of support rollers and three paired pairs of support rollers on each side. The rollers have a rubber-cord bandage that softens shock loads on the chassis. The caterpillar is rubber-metal, asphalt track with a rubber-cord elastic extender.

How to make tracks for an UAZ with your own hands

Making caterpillars yourself is not a very difficult, but responsible process . Different materials and tools are suitable for their assembly. If you follow all the recommendations, their quality can reach factory analogues.

Making tracks from tires. The caterpillar can be made using ordinary car tires . To do this, you need to choose truck tires, preferably with a suitable tread pattern, in order to spend less time working with the tire. To make it, you need to cut out the beads from the tire, and do not forget to leave space for the treadmill. When working, you need to use a sharp shoe knife. To make the process easier, you can sometimes wet the blade with soapy water. Instead of a knife, it is permissible to use other cutting devices, incl. electric jigsaw.

When using a jigsaw, attach a fine-toothed file moistened with the same solution to it. Wetting should also be done periodically.

Carrying out work. Do-it-yourself tracks for a machine must be made using the following technology:

  1. Removing tire beads
  2. If the tread does not fit, then we cut out a new pattern. To have better grip on the surface.

Caterpillars made according to the principle described above have many advantages. One of which is the closed circuit, which indicates high strength. But there is also one drawback - limited width, but if necessary, you can use double width.

Tracks made from belts. This manufacturing option is good because it does not require extra effort. All you need to do is prepare V-shaped belts. Later they are connected into one whole using soil hooks fixed with screws. Alternatively, rivets can be used.

To create a hole, it is necessary to create free space between the fastened straps.

Another option for making tracks. Before starting work, you need to select one of the manufacturing options. You can use the method described below.

The frame is made using rectangular pipes connected by a frame. This will make the base collapsible.

We will borrow the splined part from the Buran, which will allow us to use the drive shafts.

It is also necessary to use brake discs. When working on the front shafts, you will need to install a brake mechanism on them.

Making your own tracks will allow you to save your budget, as well as drive through any jungle without any inconvenience. This design will last a long time without repair work.

PRICE UAZ Vetluga
