Ease of operation and maintenance

To simplify maintenance work, the following installation is provided:

• cooling unit on hinges;
• conveniently opening hood;
• control systems for wear linings of supports and telescopic handle.

To service the Cat 428 boom mechanism, no removal of the arm is required, only the wedge mechanism is required. The support legs are adjustable from the outside. The backhoe bucket is also not dismantled during maintenance due to the installation of a cast movable carriage frame. Replacement bushings are installed in special holes, accessible from the ground level.

The Caterpillar 428F is equipped as standard with a 4-stroke, 4-cylinder diesel engine model 3054C DIT of its own production. The 3054C DIT engine with increased power (73 kW) is functionally available. This engine has direct fuel injection and classic glow plugs, allowing you to start the excavator in cold weather (at temperatures down to -26 degrees). The power plant again includes a reliable water pump, complemented by a gear drive that extends service life. The units installed in the Caterpillar 428 meet EC Stage II requirements for exhaust gas concentrations.

3054C DIT Engine Features:

Features of the 3054C DIT motor:

• the crankshaft is made of chrome-molybdenum steel;

• the rear (front) crankshaft seal is presented in the form of a cuff of Viton and PTFE construction;
• the cylinder block has a deep crankcase and a one-piece construction;
• direct injection system makes fuel supply as accurate as possible;
• self-priming fuel priming pump makes starting a cold engine easier;
• the cylinder head is made of alloy high-strength cast iron with durable cover and walls;
• significant torque increases the performance of the backhoe loader;
• the charging and starting system has a voltage of 12 V;
• The fuel system is equipped with one fuel filter, which reduces maintenance costs. However, sometimes this has a negative impact on engine life;
• A dry type air purifier with an automatic dust ejector makes air pre-cleaning more effective.

Modifications

When developing the technology, the experience of previous modeling was taken into account, changes and modern developments were made. The result was a modification of the standard equipment - the Cat 428F2 model, which differs in hydraulic power and cab design. The characteristic features of the new loader include some operating parameters and equipment.
