Proper repair of a lawn mower with your own hands - basic elements and rules for diagnosing the cause of a breakdown (125 photos)

A gasoline trimmer, also called a brush cutter or gas trimmer, is a complex technical device.
Therefore, sometimes it breaks down and stops working normally, or does not start at all.

Despite the variety of brands and models, all breakdowns of such equipment can be divided into several groups, which we will discuss further.

In this article, we will describe the most common malfunctions that gas trimmer owners may encounter and tell you how to fix them.

The structure of a lawn mower and common malfunctions

The easiest way is to have your lawn mower repaired by allocating a certain amount of money from the family budget; prompt and high-quality repairs with your own hands are no less simple and convenient if you want to understand the design of the lawn mower and fix all the problems.

Mass and piece production of trimmers is based on the use of generally accepted technology; a typical design diagram consists of certain elements and parts, it is important to know them when carrying out independent repair work:

  • top part. The basis of the entire structure, where all the important elements are assembled, such as the starter, carburetor and lawnmower engine;
  • middle part. A hollow rod, inside it there is a cable connecting the motor and the gearbox, which drives the cutting line. This part contains fastenings for distributing the weight of the entire structure and a belt for fixing the trimmer on the belt of the person using the trimmer for its intended purpose;
  • Bottom part. It houses the gearbox and cutting elements, which are hidden under a practical cover that protects the user. The casing provides an increased level of safety, preventing large fractions of debris, stones and glass from entering a person while working with a lawn mower.

Knowing exactly the internal structure and operating principle of the trimmer, you can independently carry out repairs to the structure or replace individual components that have become unusable, using the repair instructions.

The most common and common unit breakdowns that can be self-corrected include the following problems:

  • engine malfunction, due to which the lawn mower does not start and does not work;
  • increased vibration of the mower bar, which complicates its intended use;
  • increased overheating of the gearbox, its accelerated heating during operation;
  • slow and weak functioning of the cutting line at insufficient speed;
  • clogging of the starter grill, causing the engine to overheat and fail to operate;
  • rapid and frequent carburetor clogging due to the use of low-quality fuel;
  • clogging of the air filter due to failure to take care of the device.

All these problems can lead to the device losing its functionality; before ordering the necessary spare parts for the mowing machine, a visual inspection and diagnostics of the device should be carried out.

Individual spare parts and assemblies of the device require special attention; to check them, you do not have to contact a professional technician; a set of diagnostic measures will help you to identify the consequences of loss of performance with your own hands.

If the engine does not start

When the lawn mower does not start, you must first check to see if the fuel in the tank has run out. If everything is in order, then you need to check its quality - perhaps you purchased a cheap type of gasoline that is not suitable for the equipment. For the scythe, it is best to use good gasoline, which is purchased at gas stations; the grade should be at least AI-92.

You should not save money and purchase cheap fuel, as this will lead to the cylinder-piston group failing , and you can spend much more money on repairs than on high-quality gasoline.

It is also very important to prepare the fuel mixture correctly and combine oil and gasoline in the right quantity. The proportional ratio must be specified in the manual. That is why it is so important that it is written in Russian, because it is likely that different mower models require slightly different proportions for successful operation.

There is no need to use the fuel mixture in large volumes, since if the unused volume is stored indoors for a long time, it will lose its properties. It is better to use a freshly prepared solution.

  • A problem with engine operation can be contamination of the fuel filter. First of all, you have to check the filter. If necessary, replace it. Under no circumstances should the inlet pipe be left without a fuel filter. It’s also worth checking the air filter at the same time. If it gets dirty, you need to remove it, wash it in gasoline and put it back in place. If you are at the dacha or in a private house, then it will be enough to rinse it in clean water, using various detergents. After this, rinse, wring out and let dry. The finished filter is moistened in a small amount of oil, which is used to prepare the mixture. Excess is removed by squeezing the filter with your hands. Then the part can be put back.
  • If all these procedures did not help and the engine still does not start, then you can try to adjust the idle speed, to do this, start tightening the carburetor screw. This is very similar to tuning a similar part on a car. If you have no experience in adjusting the carburetor, then you can study videos on the Internet, which are very clear and accessible. There they will clearly show how you can adjust the carburetor of a lawn mower with your own hands.

Malfunctions and their elimination

Electric and gasoline trimmers experience typical breakdowns and malfunctions. For devices powered by an internal combustion engine, these are:

  • problems in the carburetor;
  • engine breakdown;
  • problems with the fuel system;
  • breakdown of the gearbox, starter, muffler;
  • blockages;
  • air filter failure;
  • problems with the ignition coil.

Electrical units have specific breakdowns:

  • problems with the control button and electrical cable;
  • burnt out motor stator winding;
  • broken contacts.

For simple problems, you can repair the trimmer yourself.

Why won't the trimmer start?

The most common reason that the unit does not start is the use of low-quality fuel. Choosing gasoline grades lower than AI-92 can damage the lawn mower. If high-quality fuel is used, you need to look for other reasons. To do this, all components and systems are carefully checked. The following are subject to verification:

  • spark plug and spark plug channel;
  • air and fuel filter;
  • breather;
  • exhaust channel.

The device may not start after a long period of inactivity. Before turning on the trimmer, you need to carefully study the operating instructions. The solution to many problems is indicated in it.

If it stalls when you press the gas

There are several reasons why the trimmer stalls when you press the gas:

  1. The first reason is carburetor misadjustment.
  2. Fuel valve clogged.
  3. Check valve clogged.
  4. Loose and sagging carburetor cable or sagging fuel intake hose.

To avoid the described problems with the lawn mower, you need to carefully monitor the condition of the device and its components. Timely cleaning and washing of the unit and spare parts can increase its service life.

Starter breakdowns

The most difficult starter breakdown occurs when the rope breaks and winds around the flywheel of a running engine. As a result, the spring may burst and the pulley may break off. In this case, only a complete replacement of the spare part will help. Such a breakdown rarely occurs. More often it happens:

  • break of the shmorgalka rope;
  • spring breakage;
  • spring failure.

In this case, it is easy to repair the starter yourself. The manufacturer has prepared step-by-step instructions for this.

Gearbox repair

Caring for the brush cutter gearbox involves timely lubrication of the unit. The absence of this can lead to rapid wear of the gears and jamming of the gear module.

Main malfunctions of the trimmer gearbox:

  • strong heating of the transmission unit due to the use of low quality lubricant or its absence;
  • shaft jamming when worn bearings rotate;
  • wobbling or flying off the transmission mechanism rod as a result of damage to the housing;
  • lack of rotation of the output shaft with the knife due to wear of the teeth on the gears.

Most gearbox problems are associated with bearing failure.

This happens due to the use of low quality lubricant or its complete absence. Another reason for gearbox failure is operating the trimmer to the limit of its capabilities and getting foreign objects. To replace a faulty bearing, the gearbox is disassembled.

Features of repair of electric models

Electric models of trimmers operating from the mains contain several main blocks:

  • a mechanical part that transmits torque to the trimmer head;
  • Electrical engine;
  • power cable.

Each electric trimmer unit has specific problems. In the mechanical part, they depend on the presence of a fishing line used as a cutting element. Reasons for termination:

  • tangling of fishing line;
  • sticking of nylon thread due to overheating of the trimmer;
  • problems with the drive shaft and coil.

You can identify problems with the electrical part of the electric scythe using special tools:

  • indicator screwdriver;
  • multimeter;
  • set of keys and screwdrivers.

To fix problems you need a blowtorch.

Electrical damage:

  • power cable malfunction;
  • problems with socket and plug;
  • failure of the control knob;
  • starter winding burns out, engine replacement required;
  • Broken contacts can be corrected yourself using a blowtorch.

Gearbox Troubleshooting

If you use unsuitable and low-quality lubricant, or its absence, problems with the gearbox may occur in the gas trimmer.

Also, destruction or wear of the bearings often occurs, leading to the shaft seizing during rotation, which, in turn, leads to knocking and backlash.

Repairing a lawn mower gearbox can be done by replacing the failed bearing with a new one; removal is best done using a special removable device, without heating the device in any case.

After which, to break in the parts, you should work for some time without loading the device.

The lawnmower gearbox should be lubricated at least once every 2-3 months; if the work is at maximum intensity or if extraneous noise is detected, it should be lubricated even more often.

For lubrication, use the manufacturer’s own compositions or special “Litol”, “Azmol”. You can pour the lubricant with a special syringe or by squeezing it directly from the tube onto the body.

Lubricant should be applied carefully - a lack or a large amount can cause additional heating of the gearbox, which can lead to bearing destruction.

Gasoline trimmer device

The main component of any gasoline tool is the internal combustion engine (ICE), which transmits torque to the executive body through various methods. In a modern lawn mower, an alloy rod (pipe) is used as a transmission element between the motor and the trimmer head, inside which the drive shaft is located.

Petrol trimmer Husqvarna

Thanks to the high-speed engine, the rotation speed of the fishing line can reach 13 thousand revolutions per minute, depending on the manufacturer of the braid. In order to avoid mechanical and thermal damage to the gearbox, a special hole is provided in its housing for introducing lubricant in the form of ointments. To make the headset easier for the owner during long-term work, all models of brush cutters are equipped with a durable shoulder strap.

Deciding on the type of gasoline trimmer

All trimmers and lawn mowers available on the market today, depending on their capabilities and purpose, are divided into three classes: household, semi-professional and professional. What tool do you need? This depends primarily on the tasks that will be assigned to him.

Household petrol trimmers

Household trimmers are designed for mowing short grass in a relatively small area, the area of which does not exceed 10-15 acres. As a rule, we are talking about caring for the lawn near the house. They are not capable of more: household trimmers cannot withstand long-term operation, 1-1.5 hours a day is their limit. Thanks to the engine, which is modest in power (no more than 1-1.5 hp) and dimensions, such a tool is lightweight, which means it can be used without special support belts.

Often household trimmers are equipped with a curved rod. The curved shaft of the household trimmer increases its maneuverability and makes it easy to trim grass in hard-to-reach places, such as around bushes. However, due to this design of the rod, a flexible shaft is installed inside, which negatively affects the reliability of the tool. A cord (special fishing line) is usually used as the cutting element of a household trimmer, although some models sometimes include plastic knives as an addition.

Semi-professional, or farm

Semi-professional trimmers are often called farm trimmers, and this fully reflects their purpose. This is a reliable assistant for a rural resident, designed for regular high loads. Such a tool is capable of working for 3-4 hours a day, mowing grass on an area of 20-30 acres. Of course, such a trimmer needs a more powerful engine - 1.5-2.5 hp.

Semi-professional models, unlike household ones, are always equipped with a straight bar and a rigid shaft, which increases their reliability. The cutting part is represented not only by the trimmer head, but also by knives. The latter will help to mow especially tall and thick grass; moreover, they can even cope with weeds and branches of bushes.

Professional, or gardening

A professional trimmer is a powerful tool for urban improvement workers, landscaping companies and public utilities. It is equipped with an engine with a power of over 2.5 hp, has an increased service life and is ready for long hours of daily work. In addition to the trimmer head, such units can be equipped with metal knives that can cope with dense bushes and unnecessary shoots of trees with a trunk thickness of up to 3 cm in diameter.

It’s easy to guess that professional trimmers have a reinforced shaft and a spacious fuel tank. Since such tools are quite massive, they are necessarily equipped with special belts that lighten the load on the operator’s hands, and a professional vibration damping system. It is clear that purchasing a professional trimmer for cutting the lawn next to a private home is simply impractical.

Determining the causes of the malfunction

If the trimmer engine does not start or stalls immediately after starting, if the gearbox overheats or during operation of the device, extraneous noise is heard and vibration is clearly felt, it is important to carry out a visual inspection and identify the non-working unit.

To optimize preparatory measures before repair, you should carry out simple diagnostics and check step by step:

  • presence of fuel in the tank and lubricant in the main components;
  • the serviceability of the spark plug and its performance;
  • cleanliness of the brush cutter's fuel and air filters;
  • clogging of the exhaust channel and breather of the device;
  • quality of the fuels and lubricants used.

To determine the functional performance of the ignition of a lawn mower, you should determine whether the spark plug works by testing the appearance of a spark when it comes into contact with the body of the functional device.

The spark plug itself can be replaced with a new one by first drying the spark plug channel; if necessary, the old element is also dried, cleaned with special devices and returned to its place.

Breakdown of the starter and gearbox

The gearbox transmits torque from the motor shaft to the cutting tool; during operation, its gears must be absolutely clean and always lubricated with a special lubricant.

Carrying out a technical inspection on your own once a season will eliminate the need to repair the gearbox or replace it, with the purchase of an expensive new unit.

A starter is necessary to bring the trimmer into working condition; its diagnosis consists of checking the tension of the cord engaged with the teeth of the starter coil, which are often destroyed during a sudden start.

A non-working starter in a lawn mower cannot be repaired; it must be replaced with a working unit as part of a mandatory technical inspection or a set of repair measures.

The cutting elements require special attention and care; they must always be cleaned of dirt and mown grass after use. Regular inspection and thorough preparation of the device for operation will help you avoid expensive and time-consuming repairs, and always be confident in the functionality of the lawn mower.

How to adjust the carburetor

The module is adjusted by the manufacturer. During operation of the device, after repairing or cleaning the module, it becomes necessary to adjust the carburetor.

Tuning the carburetor does not require replacement of spare parts. Debugging is done using 3 screws that are included in the design:

  • L - controls fuel supply at low speeds;
  • H - controls fuel consumption and temperature, and is also responsible for the supply of gasoline at high speeds;
  • T - is responsible for idling the engine.

The trimmer carburetor is adjusted after the engine has warmed up. To do this, 10 minutes of idling operation of the device is enough. Rotating the mowing head at idle speed allows you to proceed directly to debugging screw T. It is turned counterclockwise until rotation stops. Next, turn screw H to the right and left to find the position at which the idle speed will be maximum. The screw is turned ¼ full turn counterclockwise from the found point, this will be the working position.

Using the same method, screw L is adjusted. After repairing the carburetor, the module must be adjusted so that the device works correctly.

Tool power

How to choose a gasoline trimmer for cutting grass in your garden? And for cultivating a “plantation” of a couple of hectares? That's right, focusing on its power.

The power of the gasoline engine installed on trimmers can vary from 1 to 3-3.5 hp. The choice of tool for this parameter directly depends on the expected load. It is the power of the trimmer that determines its operational purpose. So, to mow the lawn next to the house, a simple tool with a power of no more than 1.5 liters will be enough. With. Farm trimmers are equipped with a more powerful engine – from 1.5 to 2.5 liters. With. The full range of capabilities of trimmers can only be demonstrated by a professional tool with a power of over 2.5 hp.

It is clear that an increase in the power of a tool inevitably entails an increase in its weight and cost. It follows from this that when choosing, you do not need to mindlessly chase high power indicators, but focus primarily on the planned scope of application of the tool.

Carburetor repair

When inspecting the carburetor, you should pay attention to the possible leakage of the fuel used; to identify carburetor problems, the following measures must be taken:

  • purging the fuel hose to eliminate possible clogging of the element;
  • checking and replacing the gasket located between the engine and carburetor;
  • determination of tightness and maintaining constant pressure in the unit.

If necessary, you can disassemble and thoroughly clean the unit yourself, using gasoline; cleaning the nozzle and channels is carried out using compressed air.

Additional amenities

Availability of anti-vibration system

During operation of the trimmer, vibrations occur, which is generally typical for any mechanism, the individual elements of which perform rapid reciprocating movements. Vibrations can cause the operator to experience noticeable discomfort while working, and frequent use of the tool can cause health problems, the most predictable of which is premature wear of the elbow joints.

A special anti-vibration system will help to significantly reduce the vibration impact on the body of a person working with a trimmer. In the simplest and most common version, it is a set of polymer gaskets located between different structural elements of the trimmer.

Anti-vibration system for lawn mowers.

Such gaskets reduce the transmission of vibration and thereby ensure normal working conditions for the user with the tool. To dampen vibrations, manufacturers often additionally separate the engine from the boom with special shock absorbers. Today, almost all the world's leading brands equip their products with an anti-vibration system.

Fuel tank volume

The capacity of the fuel mixture tank can vary from 0.3 to 1 liter depending on the model. Which trimmer with which gas tank – large or small – should you prefer? Both options have their advantages and disadvantages. A large-capacity tank increases the weight of an already heavy unit, but does not require frequent stops for refueling.

A tank of smaller capacity, in turn, is smaller and heavier, contributing to more economical fuel consumption, but at the same time does not allow long-term non-stop operation. When choosing a trimmer based on such a parameter as the volume of the fuel tank, you should focus on your physical abilities and the size of the area that you will regularly mow. It is very convenient if the fuel container is made of translucent plastic - this allows you to monitor the amount of fuel remaining in it during work.

Device weight

The convenience of working with a trimmer directly depends on its weight, because the entire load falls on the hands and shoulders of the person performing the operation. If the tool turns out to be too heavy for you, then no matter how powerful it is and no matter how well it mows the grass, the end result is unlikely to be satisfactory: you simply will not be able to work with it for a long time and control it delicately when getting to hard-to-reach areas.

That is why, when choosing a trimmer, you should definitely pay attention to the weight of the device, especially if you yourself cannot boast of heroic strength. Don't chase power. In many cases, it is more rational to purchase a less powerful, but at the same time lighter unit: you will spend a little more time mowing your plot, but you will not get so tired that you quit the job without finishing it.

Briefly about engine repair

Problems in the engine begin after several years of proper operation due to wear of components or suddenly when the trimmer is used incorrectly. Unfortunately, people regret improper operation when they repair gasoline trimmers with their own hands after an engine breakdown. And this happens in cases where the dosage of oil in the fuel is not observed or the device operates to the point of terrible overheating. Overheating may cause the crankshaft to jam, the piston rings to break, or the piston to completely burn out. In order to perform a piston inspection, it is enough to remove the cylinder head, from under which the piston will appear, clearly reflecting the condition of its working surface. The rings themselves do not protrude from the cylinder, so it does not matter whether you change the rings or the piston, in both cases you will have to remove the cylinder. When repairing gasoline trimmers with your own hands, it is worth remembering the fragility

piston rings,

which can easily break if you lack experience. Installing the piston itself on the crankshaft is not too difficult. The main thing when repairing an engine is to assemble everything the same way as it was before disassembly, and then everything will work again.

Handle type

Filigree control of a rather heavy unit is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. When choosing a trimmer, special attention should be paid to the configuration of the handle, on which the ease of use of the tool directly depends. There are several types of handles:

T-shaped handle , which looks like a bicycle handlebar, allows for wide movements and is convenient for quite long work, so it can often be seen on professional and semi-professional trimmers. All tool controls (starting, speed control, etc.) are located directly on one of the handles, which greatly simplifies work and increases safety.

The J-shaped handle is typical for lightweight household-grade trimmers. With its help, it is easier to control the tool, performing fine maneuvering. All the buttons necessary for the operator are located not on the handle, but on the rod.

D - shaped handle , as well as J-shaped, is installed only on lightweight trimmers intended for home use, since it is designed to hold the tool with one hand.

Before choosing a gasoline lawn mower, the future user must hold it in his hands and evaluate the degree of convenience. It should be borne in mind that any type of handle can be moved along the bar, adjusting the tool to your height and other individual characteristics and thereby achieving maximum ergonomics. Petrol trimmers with D and J-shaped handles are convenient to work in cramped conditions and narrow passages, which are often found in personal plots.

Why does the lawn mower stall after starting?

After starting, the engine may stall if the carburetor is incorrectly configured or misadjusted. By what signs can we understand that the reason really lies in this? It’s very simple, based on the vibrations that will be clearly felt when the mower is operating. You can adjust the fuel supply yourself by following everything that is written in the operating instructions for the tool.

The engine may stall due to a clogged fuel valve. The cause can be eliminated by cleaning it. If the lawn mower starts up and then suddenly stalls, it means that the supply of fuel to the carburetor is obstructed. Loosen the carburetor valves to ensure free flow of fuel in the required quantity.

Excessive air leaks may also cause the engine to stall. Increase engine speed so that air bubbles leave the unit's fuel system faster. Also be sure to check the integrity of the fuel intake hose. If mechanical damage is detected (cracks, punctures, etc.), replace the part.

Quick start of the brush cutter

The procedure is as follows:

  • Putting the lawn mower down with the air filter facing up, remove it and pour a little mixture into the carburetor and put the filter back on.
  • If after the above procedure it is not possible to start the brush cutter, you need to check the spark plug. The internal combustion chamber is dried and the spark plug is replaced with a working one.
  • If the spark plug is working, proceed as follows. Close the air damper on the carburetor and pull the starter handle. Open the damper and pull the handle 3-4 times. The process is repeated several times.

What you need to know about work equipment

The working element of a brush cutter that directly cuts off excess vegetation can be either a cord (special cutting line) or knives. These are consumables, even if they are included in the factory kit of the tool, over time they will have to be purchased and replaced. The choice of equipment used depends on the tasks that you plan to solve with your trimmer, and primarily on the thickness and density of the grass that will be mowed.

Trimmer head

Almost all trimmers are equipped with a trimmer head - a reel designed for winding cutting line. According to the method of feeding the line, all trimmer heads are divided into mechanical (you have to manually pull out the ends of the line yourself), semi-automatic (the line is released when you press a wide button on the bottom plane) or automatic (the protruding ends of the line are lengthened automatically when the engine speed decreases). Semi-automatic cord feeding is considered the most effective; such heads are most popular among users.

In addition, trimmer heads may differ in the maximum permissible diameter of the mowing line that can be threaded into the reel. Household trimmers usually use a line with a diameter of 2 to 2.4 mm, semi-professional trimmers - from 2.4 to 2.7 mm, professional trimmers - from 2.7 to 3 mm.

When choosing a trimmer head, be sure to pay attention to the material from which the lower part is made. It is this part that is the most vulnerable, since it constantly collides with the ground, and it is this part that most often causes the trimmer head to fail.

Knives

To mow particularly thick grass, reeds, bushes, and young trees, they use special knives (cutters) rather than a fishing line. On sale you can find a huge number of varieties of knives for trimmers, differing in material (metal or plastic), shape, and number of cutting blades. By the way, cutters, unlike fishing lines, do not chop up grass, which means they can be used for mowing for harvesting purposes.

Which knife should you choose for your trimmer? When solving this issue, you should first of all focus on the manufacturer’s recommendations, indicating the possibility of using one or another type of equipment on this model. Excessive independence in choosing knives and cutters can lead to trimmer failure.

How to clean and store the instrument?

During operation of the lawn mower, monitor the condition of the engine cooling system. The channels in the starter housing, as well as the cylinder fins, must always be clean. If you ignore this requirement and continue to use the brush cutter, you can damage the engine due to overheating.

Proper care of a gasoline scythe during operation allows you to use it for several seasons in a row without major repairs.

Allow the engine to cool before cleaning. Take a soft-bristled brush and scrub away any dirt from the outer surface. Plastic parts are cleaned with solvents, including kerosene, or special detergents.

At the end of the summer season, the lawn mower must be prepared for long-term storage. To do this, the fuel mixture is drained from the tank. Then the engine is started to exhaust any remaining fuel in the carburetor. The entire instrument is thoroughly cleaned of dirt and sent to “hibernate.”

As you can see, you can repair malfunctions of a household lawn mower entirely on your own. You should contact service departments in case of serious breakdowns. In this case, you should compare the cost of repairs with the price of a new lawn mower. It may be better to buy a new tool.

What types of trimmers and brush cutters are there?

The capabilities of a trimmer or brushcutter are determined primarily by the engine installed on it. There are only two options here: electric or gasoline, and there are three varieties: the electric motor can be powered either from the network or from a battery. The “weight category” of the device also depends on the engine power.

The simplest ones are electric trimmers. Since the engine is located at the bottom, its weight cannot be too large: it will be uncomfortable to hold. These are models with power ranging from 300-600 W, line diameter 1.2-1.6 mm. Purpose: Mainly lawn grass care.

Trimmer in edger mode. The support wheel is a huge help in this case.

In weeds, the consumption of fishing line will increase greatly, but if you don’t let it go, you can also mow “soft” young weeds. There are no petrol trimmers - the weight is too much.

Electric brush cutters have more power, and you can use thick fishing line – 2 mm or more in diameter. Many can actually be installed with a disc. The work is simple, there is only one limitation - mow only within a radius of several tens of meters “from the outlet”, and you will also have to control the extension cord. Power is about 1.0-1.3 kW; the electrical network or extension cord may not be able to withstand more.

Cordless trimmers and brush cutters appeared on the market relatively recently, but this area is very promising. Modern nickel-cadmium and lithium-ion batteries can operate on a single charge for several tens of minutes, which is enough to mow areas of several hundred square meters. For a small plot of land - quite enough.

The battery is located on the top of the trimmer, so the motor can be small or quite powerful, like small brush cutters. Usually the engine is placed at the bottom so as not to waste energy on rotating the shaft, but there are also models with a “motor mower” layout. Convenience - independence from the network cable, the disadvantage is still a rather high price. However, their cost is gradually falling, and many manufacturers produce entire lines of garden equipment that can operate from the same battery, so you can save money on its purchase.

Electric models are also interesting because among them (especially trimmers) there are the most diverse design solutions. The products are aimed largely at the “weaker sex”; convenience, lightness and beauty are equally important here.

The choice in the category of brush cutters is even greater, although design issues fade into the background: brush cutters in general are much more similar to each other. With comparable power to electric and light gasoline lawn mowers, their weight is approximately the same, but the upper limit of the power of gasoline models is 34 hp. However, these are not needed in everyday life; these are braids for long-term professional work. The most popular power value for brush cutters is approximately 1 kW for electric and 1 hp. (0.7 kW) for gasoline. In fact, these are scythes of similar power: electric models indicate the consumed power, while gasoline models indicate the output power.
