Review of forklifts from the popular Chinese manufacturer Dalian

Chinese Dalian forklifts directly in China are among the most popular. These are representatives of the so-called “Big Three” Chinese forklifts. Dalian, after its establishment in 1946, produced the first Chinese forklifts in 1958, thus beginning the era of forklifts in China.

The Dalian forklift today has 30 series of 130 different models. The company is constantly searching for new technical and technological solutions, regularly updating the range of manufactured equipment. The range of forklifts consists of petrol, diesel and electric models.

Where is a forklift used?

The loader is maneuverable and mobile equipment, which allows it to be used in confined spaces. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the forklift is used:

Features of Electric Forklift

Compared to equipment powered by gasoline or diesel engines, electric loading equipment is more versatile and functional. In addition to the above-mentioned areas of use, it is used where strict fire safety requirements are imposed, in rooms with low temperature conditions, in warehouses with food products, pharmaceuticals and related industries.

Electric forklifts can be used indoors

The electric forklift is ideal for indoor work. Soot-free white tires are installed on equipment used in clean rooms.

A technical feature of an electric forklift is the presence of a rechargeable battery that is charged from the mains.

Criterias of choice

The choice of fork loading equipment should be made taking into account its technical characteristics: operational parameters and design features.

The main structural elements of the loader are:

• mast with pitchforks;
• running gear;
• a counterweight that provides stability when lifting loads to a height.

The mast can be 2-stage or 3-stage.

Loader mast
It is the design of the mast that determines to what height the load can be lifted. Another important parameter also depends on the design of the mast - the building height. This is the height of the forklift when the mast is folded and the carriage is lowered. It is even more necessary to pay attention to this characteristic if in the room where the equipment will be operated, the doorways are not high enough or the ceiling beams are low. The mast can be replaced or equipped with an additional protective grille.

Loaders with a mast consisting of more sections have a lower overall height with the same height when extended.

The counterweight is installed on the rear of the forklift. The larger the counterweight, the heavier the load the forklift can lift, and the greater the height available to it (limited by the height of the mast).

Other important selection criteria:

• Load capacity. Loaders are distinguished by load capacity class: small - 1-4 tons, medium - 4-10 tons, heavy - 10-16 tons. Electric forklifts are often classified as small and medium load capacity.
• Location of the forks. The forks can be positioned frontally or sideways.
• Movement speed. Some models reach speeds of more than 20 km/h. At large-scale facilities where cargo needs to be moved over fairly long distances, this will help increase productivity.
• Load lifting speed.
• Fork length and width. The ability to lift large loads depends on this indicator. If the parameters of the forks do not match the characteristics of the transported cargo, the latter may be damaged.
• Wheelbase. Based on the number of wheel supports, loaders are classified into three-leg and four-leg. Moreover, single or double wheels are used. Three-legged equipment is more maneuverable and mobile, but maintains proper stability. The number of wheels does not affect the drive: both three-wheel and four-wheel loaders can be front- or rear-wheel drive. The scope of application of three-legged lifting equipment: ship holds, airports, train stations, that is, places with narrow passages.
• Operating power.

Diesel

Diesel forklifts are very popular due to their efficiency, unpretentiousness and excellent characteristics. Due to their high torque, diesel units are installed on forklifts with a lifting capacity of over 3 tons.

Peculiarities

The mast can be installed either two-stage or three-stage. In this case, the maximum unloading height can be from 3 to 6 meters. The carriage with a fork mechanism is movably mounted on the mast, but suspended on a load chain. When the hydraulic cylinders lift the mast section, the carriage moves upward at twice the speed.

The engine transmits power through the automatic transmission to the rear axle, as well as to the hydraulic pump, which provides the necessary pressure in the hydraulic cylinders. The air filter is mounted on one of the cab pillars, which reduces its contamination and improves air purification. This has a positive effect on the operation of the entire engine.

Some models are equipped with a mount for a gas cylinder, which allows you to operate the engine using gas rather than diesel fuel.

The steering and braking system are power-assisted, which makes it easier for the operator to control and increases the accuracy of work.

The cabin is equipped with everything necessary for safe and comfortable work. These include rear-view mirrors, side lights, front halogen lamps, and an adjustable seat with a seat belt.

Loaders can be additionally equipped with replaceable attachments, which will significantly expand its capabilities and save on several types of equipment at once.

Dalian loaders

The history of forklifts in China began with Dalian Forklift. The company itself was founded in 1946, and the first copy was released in 1958. Since then, the brand has become known in more than 40 countries thanks to its wide range and high quality products. Dalian loaders have been operating in Russia since 2005. In addition, equipment is supplied to South America, Southeast Asia, and Australia.

The company is one of the top three best manufacturers of lifting equipment and produces 30 lines of electric forklifts and 130 of their subtypes, differing in load capacity and type of power unit. In the production of products, not only our own technologies are used, but also Japanese ones. These include technical achievements of Mitsubishi, Nissan, TCM. That is why, in appearance and design, the loaders resemble the corresponding Mitsubishi equipment.

However, the brand is not chasing an increase in turnover, striving to produce high-quality equipment. The enterprise carries out a full production cycle, from design to assembly. In 2003, in connection with the construction of a new plant, automated and robotic systems were introduced at all stages of production, as well as a strict quality control system. The products comply with international standards, which is confirmed by international certificates.

Peculiarities

Sensor readings about the status of the loader are shown on the LCD display. The movement is controlled by modern Italian controllers, which transmit information to a common LCD display. They can provide not only smooth movement, but also fairly fast rise and acceleration. Loaders have systems that allow for regenerative braking. In this case, the engine acts as a generator.

The steering and braking systems, lifting mechanism and cabin are similar to the diesel version.
