Review of diesel and hybrid forklifts from STILL

Forklifts are quite easy to buy, since there are a huge number of manufacturers that have official representative offices in many countries around the world. Each company tries to stand out in some way, be it versatility, high power, lifting height, or simplicity and reliability of the design. However, there is a company that strives to make its forklifts with the lowest possible fuel consumption and a comfortable workplace for the driver. Such loaders are produced under the STILL brand.

Still forklifts

The production is carried out by the STILL company, which has been manufacturing forklifts and spare parts for them for 90 years. Now the international company is considered one of the world leaders in the production of warehouse equipment. There are 7 factories in total, and they are located mainly in Europe, but there is also a factory in South America. A wide dealer network makes it possible to use equipment all over the world. In Russia, the central office is located in Moscow, three branches are located in Kaluga, Yekaterinburg, as well as in St. Petersburg, where there is also a warehouse. Thus, the equipment is not only easy to buy, but you can also get fast and high-quality service.

All equipment is a standard forklift design, which can use diesel, gasoline/gas or hybrid engines as a power unit.

In hybrid installations, the diesel engine rotates an electric generator, which transfers energy to the electric motor. The loaders use modern technologies that allow them to use resources 10–20% more economically than their analogues. Some forklifts are equipped with an enclosed cab to keep the operator safe when working in harsh environments.

Possibilities

Like all forklifts, they are designed to transport a variety of cargo that is on pallets. However, unlike most analogues, they can be equipped with a sealed cabin, which will allow you to work even in difficult conditions with an unfavorable external environment. This may be contamination from small solid particles, splashes or vapor of liquid chemicals. connections, sparks from cutting metal, high or low temperatures, and so on.

Peculiarities

There are several series of loaders to choose from, which mainly differ in the power unit used, as well as the cabin. You can choose diesel, petrol/gas or hybrid. The cabin can be either open or closed, which is aimed at creating safer and more comfortable conditions for the operator.

The lifting mechanism works like everyone else’s - the hydraulic pump takes power from the main engine (diesel, gas, gasoline) or from an additional one (electric lift).

All loaders are equipped with rear-view mirrors, side lights, hydraulic or electric power steering, and hydraulic brakes. The gearbox is automatic (internal combustion engines) or the speed is controlled by a controller (electric motors).

Hybrid engines are designed to retain the high power of diesel power units, but at the same time significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions and energy consumption, be it fuel or electricity.

All loaders combine low energy consumption, small size, good stability, high maneuverability, excellent performance, reliable design, and concern for operator safety.

Features and benefits of Still RX 20 loaders

One of the distinctive features of the Still RX 20 is the ability to replace the battery from the side of the forklift.
When replacing it, a hydraulic trolley is used instead of a crane. This increases safety and reduces the risk of accidents. Greater reliability of the loader is ensured by 2 galley tires and 2 controlled processors.

Due to the fact that the front part of the forklift is low and the control panel instruments are located on the side, the driver has the best visibility of the forks and the load being moved.

The loader roof, which protects the operator, is elastically attached to the chassis. This reduces vibration and prevents noise from affecting the driver. It has large windows, which provide good visibility during storage at high heights. The loader is equipped with a hydraulic pump with reduced noise control.

Loader maintenance is carried out every 1,000 hours or once a year.

Modules are attached to the counterweight of the loader, which remove heat from the power parts of electrical equipment. Therefore, there are no filters and fans designed to cool the equipment on the loader, which means there is no need for maintenance of these items.

The small steering wheel, easy-to-adjust steering column and hydraulic power steering enable the driver to operate the electric warehouse equipment effortlessly.

The heated backlit LCD display, located in the operator's field of view, displays a complete list of information about the status of the forklift during operation.

By controlling the loader using the hydraulic system, the driver has the ability to switch the direction of travel lever installed at the lifting point without removing his hands from the control levers. This significantly improves efficiency and increases the speed of work on warehouse equipment.

Two asynchronous closed maintenance-free motors make it possible to move at high speed, overcome steep climbs and not be afraid of dirt and water. Due to the fact that electric motors are completely and hermetically sealed, there is no need to service the motors.

During braking, electric motors act as generators, returning energy to the battery, which allows the loader to operate for up to an hour and a half without recharging.

The buster RX 20 15 function allows you to mobilize the maximum torque of the engine, which, in turn, makes it possible to facilitate the movement of the forklift on the thresholds of warehouse premises and in those places where the ramp docks with a car or wagon, where loading and unloading operations are carried out.

Forklifts are designed for explosion-proof design and for operation in refrigeration units.

Electric warehouse equipment is easy to operate and does not require special training for daily maintenance. The electromagnetic braking system of the forklift ensures high performance and reliability, as well as safe operation of the forklift.

Still RX-50

Still electric forklifts are highly productive. According to their design, they are divided into two types: three-legged and four-legged.

Three-wheel loaders, in turn, are divided into equipment with front-wheel drive (RX 50 series) and rear-wheel drive (RX 20 series). The front wheels of such loaders are single, but the rear wheels are both single and double.

Still's three-leg loaders are very compact, allowing them to move freely between warehouse racks.

Loaders belonging to the RX 50 series are used to transport light loads weighing no more than 1,600 kg. Loaders of the RX 20 series are used when transporting the heaviest loads, the weight of which does not exceed 2,000 kg.

Still RX-60

The RX 60 series four-wheel loaders are rear-wheel drive and have two front and two rear single wheels. They are used in more difficult conditions. Such loaders are used when moving cargo whose weight does not exceed 5,000 kg.

All electric forklifts are environmentally friendly equipment that do not create noise during operation and do not emit toxic explosive gases.

Still loaders have the original Biue-Q system, which saves energy. Thanks to this system, the energy consumption of all forklift systems is monitored, and if any system becomes inactive, the forklift turns it off. This reduces energy consumption and increases the operation of the electrical mechanism without recharging.

Diesel

Diesel forklifts are represented in several series: RC 40, RC 41, RX 70. In this model, the pressure in the hydraulic pump can be adjusted, thus, when working with light loads, there will be no excess fuel consumption. Battery contents

To service the batteries of electric forklifts, you need a specialized room, specially designed, in which the batteries are serviced and recharged.
Forklifts operate on serviced and maintenance-free traction batteries.

If the batteries used are serviceable, then it is necessary to equip the charging room taking into account the fact that during charging the batteries an explosive poisonous gas based on hydrogen is released, and a solution of sulfuric acid with distilled water is used as an electrolyte.

This means that rooms intended for charging batteries must be well ventilated and equipped in accordance with all safety regulations.

For electric forklifts, the use of gel, hermetically sealed, maintenance-free batteries is permitted. The service life of such batteries is slightly shorter than those maintained, and they are more expensive.

It is necessary to operate warehouse equipment and carry out battery maintenance taking into account strict compliance with all requirements and instructions for servicing this equipment. Otherwise, the batteries may quickly fail.

The battery pack includes:

  1. System that controls battery charging.
  2. A system that controls the automatic addition of distilled water to the battery.
  3. Air mixing system.

Hybrid

The most powerful, but also the most expensive, loaders are mainly equipped with hybrid technologies. They are able to provide low fuel consumption. Characteristics and features are described only taking into account the new technologies that the subsequent series has.
