MAZ-5340 is a reliable and unpretentious large-capacity truck, produced at the Minsk Automobile Plant since 2002. Over the entire production period, the model has been constantly improved and refined, which makes the car popular even 16 years after the start of production.

The vehicle is universal, which allows the vehicle to be used to solve urban and regional problems; the model is adapted to work in bad roads and weather. Cabin

The machine, depending on the modification, is equipped with several cab options, high, low, equipped with sleeping places and without them. As standard, it is equipped with hydraulic power steering, an ABS system, a digital tachograph, a driver’s seat with separate springs, a radio, and a heater.

Some modifications are equipped as standard with air conditioning and an independent heater. The advantages of the cabin include good visibility, spaciousness, acceptable noise insulation and heat insulation properties.

The disadvantages include the poor quality of the plastic used in the interior decoration, as well as insufficiently high build quality - even on the new MAZ 5340, the interior creaks, crunches and taps.

Device

The MAZ 5340 has a 4 by 2 wheel arrangement, which provides it with better maneuverability and controllability compared to models built according to a 6 by 4 design. The vehicle is based on a ladder frame (2 spars with cross members), made of high-strength steel. Suspensions consisting of 2 longitudinal semi-elliptical springs are installed on both axles (in the front there are additionally hydraulic shock absorbers and stabilizers). MAZ 5340 is equipped with a reinforced suspension that allows you to move on poor road surfaces. Optionally, the rear axle can be equipped with air suspension.

The series uses exclusively ZF mechanical transmissions (9, 12 or 16 speeds). All torque is supplied to the driven rear axle with a lockable cross-axle differential. These gearboxes provide high smoothness and have the ability to connect power take-offs. To transmit force, a single-disc friction clutch with a pneumatic hydraulic booster is used.

The MAZ 5340 brake system is of the dual-circuit type and includes drum mechanisms on all wheels and a pneumatic drive. The ABS system, special protective devices and a speed limiter are also responsible for driving safety.

For the MAZ 5340 series, various cab variations are provided. Currently, only restyled models with a high degree of comfort are available. They are distinguished by modern sprung seats with several adjustments, a wide berth, high safety indicators and a flat floor. The interior space of the cabins has become larger. The steering column is adjustable in terms of installation angle and reach, and there is also a hydraulic booster. Optionally, the cabin is equipped with an autonomous heater and a climate system with air conditioning. Tropical versions are equipped with elements that are resistant to high temperatures. In terms of design, restyled cabins look more impressive and are not inferior to their foreign counterparts.

The weight of a road train reaches 36,000-46,000 kg.

The maximum speed of the car, depending on the modification, is 85-100 km/h. The volume of the base platform is 10 cubic meters.

Cabin

Technical characteristics depend on the modification of the truck:

1. The MAZ-5340B2, B3 and B5 are equipped with a power plant (YaMZ-536) with six cylinders arranged in a row. The engine displacement is 6.65 liters, the engine is turbocharged. The power of the power unit has several variations: 240, 270 and 312 “horses”, respectively.
2. YaMZ-6582 is installed MAZ-5340A5, a V-shaped diesel turbocharged 8-cylinder power unit. The engine displacement is 14.86 liters and the power is 320 horsepower.
3. The MAZ-5340W6-8421 truck is equipped with a Cummins ISLe360-40 inline 6-cylinder power unit. The turbocharged diesel engine has a displacement of 8.9 liters and a power of 360 horsepower.

The machine uses a V-shaped 8-cylinder engine from the Yaroslavl Motor Plant YaMZ 6582-10, which meets Euro-3 requirements. The power unit is equipped with a turbocharger and a microprocessor control unit. Rated power is 330 hp. at 1900 rpm, torque reaches 1274 Nm in the range of 1100-1300 rpm.

MAZ-5340V5

The MAZ-5340V5 truck is equipped with an in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine YaMZ 536-10, developing a power of 312 hp. With. The engine is equipped with a turbocharger and an additional radiator for cooling the compressed air. The Common Rail system is used to supply fuel, providing injection pressure up to 1800 atm. An exhaust gas recirculation valve is installed in the exhaust tract. All these devices made it possible to reduce exhaust toxicity to the Euro-4 level.

The car uses a 9-speed Zahnrad Fabrik transmission with a double intermediate shaft. The transmission design provides increased smoothness when driving in dense urban areas and on highways. The maximum speed of the car is 90 km/h.

MAZ-5340V2

The MAZ-5340V2 chassis uses a 238-horsepower YaMZ-5363 diesel engine. Fuel consumption when driving uniformly at a speed of 60 km/h is 28.7 liters per 100 km. When the pace increases to 80 km/h, consumption increases to 33.9 liters per 100 km. Transmission 9-speed, manual.

As standard, the chassis is equipped with a cabin without a berth. At the buyer's request, an enlarged cabin can be used. By special order, the truck is equipped with an autonomous cabin heater and an air conditioner with air conditioning. There is a special tropical version of the car; the design uses rubber products that are resistant to high temperatures. On such machines there is no possibility of installing additional heaters and heaters.

MAZ-5340S2

The MAZ-5340S2-525-013 vehicle is a chassis designed for the installation of various equipment by third parties. The design of the gearbox allows the use of a power take-off gearbox. Upon special request, the power take-off is supplied already assembled at the factory.

The power plant is a 238-horsepower diesel engine YaMZ 53653.10, which meets the Euro-5 standard. The transmission is 9-speed, manufactured by Zahnrad Fabrik. The chassis design allows installation of equipment weighing up to 13,580 kg, while the total curb weight of the vehicle is 20,500 kg.

Price

The new version can be purchased for 2.7 million rubles. A used car will cost slightly less. Depending on the age of the car, mileage, technical condition and the availability of additional options, a truck can be purchased for 1.5-2 million rubles. You can also rent a truck; one work shift on a rented truck will cost about 5,000 rubles.

MAZ-5340 is a reliable and unpretentious truck produced in Belarus. The model has a relatively low price, a comfortable interior without technical excesses.
