The manufacturer of agricultural implements Rostselmash is a leader among domestic manufacturers. The long-term history of the brand has experienced many ups and downs; in the 2000s the company received a restart, which became a new stage of development; this period marked the beginning of modernization and diversification of production. It is worth noting that the enterprise also included foreign assets, and Akros grain harvesters are very popular in many countries around the world. The company carries out a full production cycle, including design development of equipment. The plant performs foundry, metal cutting, machining, welding, painting and assembly stages.
Harvester Acros 530
Akros models are designed for cleaning large areas with high-yielding crops. All activities are carried out as quickly as possible, without downtime. Using an Akros combine, you can effectively harvest over a thousand hectares of both row crops and grain crops. The Acros 530 grain harvester as standard consists of a header and feeder chamber, a platform for transporting the header and a specialized pick-up platform, as well as threshing equipment and a chopper, an operator's workplace and various electrical and hydraulic equipment.
The presented combine harvester PCM142 Acros530 is designed with a comfortable, fairly spacious cabin, equipped with practical springs for maximum comfort. A chair with adjustable settings has been created for the operator. It is worth noting that climate control has been introduced into it.
Equipment characteristics
- The total weight, including the chopper and header, is fifteen tons.
- The wheelbase width is 4 meters 28 centimeters.
- In the lowest zone, under the auger, the ground clearance is 35 centimeters.
- The maximum track width of the driving wheels is three meters and twelve centimeters.
- The turning radius can be 8.9 meters.
The Akros 530 combine harvester, whose technical characteristics are optimal for various terrains, can reach fairly high speeds even on surfaces characterized by a significant slope. If movement is difficult due to bad weather and viscous soil, the recommended speed is no higher than five kilometers per hour. In standard mode, the unit operates at a speed of twelve kilometers per hour.
Model features
- The Acros 530 combine is equipped with a header suspended frontally relative to the feeder chamber using hinges. In addition, an auger and a balancing mechanism are provided. There is a system for automatic control of surface topography. The width of the header can be adjusted to 5,6,7 or 9 meters.
- The Akros 530 combine harvester is equipped with a system that allows you to select the cutting height of the ear. The operator can use the automatic circuit to install up to eighteen centimeters. If you need to make it higher, two hydraulic cylinders are used, with a maximum level of ninety centimeters.
Design and service features
The Acros 580 model is built on the basis of new generation components. Among the main components of the combine are the cabin, reaping and chassis, bunker, motor, cleaning system and threshing and separating equipment.
The equipment is equipped with a hydrostatic transmission with a 3-speed gearbox. The system is devoid of steps, due to which the speed can be adjusted within the boundaries of each travel gear. The operating speed of the combine can reach 15 km/h. This allows it to be used with high efficiency in fields with low yields.
The steering of the Akros 580 model is represented by a mechanical system with the main element in the form of a steering shaft equipped with a cardan. The necessary balance between the wheels is created through symmetrical control, carried out automatically. The steering wheel is height adjustable, allowing the driver to choose the optimal position for comfortable work. Steering complements automatic steering, allowing you to control key parameters. If there are deviations, a voice alert is triggered.
The drive axle uses 30.5L R32 wheels, and the steering axle uses 18.4 R24 wheels.
The combine is equipped with standardized Power Stream headers with a working width of 6, 7, 9 meters. The device is considered one of the most progressive and technologically advanced in the post-Soviet space and successfully competes with European analogues. A special feature of the reaping part is the Level Glide ground contour following system, which allows you to equally effectively use the entire length of the header on uneven soil. The Akros 580 header has a light weight and durable design. The extended barrel is additionally equipped with a counter-cutting surface. Another important feature of the header is the progressive planetary drive of Schumacher knives, installed in Akros 530 combines only as an option. It ensures smooth operation of the header with minimal wear, and the double cutting edge makes cutting faster.
The equipment has a hydraulic system with a single hydraulic tank and pump that ensures the operation of the steering, main system, chassis and reel.
German-made hydraulics occupy a special place in the design of the Acros 580 combine. It includes several interconnected modules. The first model is considered the main one, the second is used for steering, the third is for driving the reel, and the fourth is for driving the chassis. In addition to controlling basic units, the combine can interact with auxiliary devices, which are connected in a similar way.
The following are used as adapters:
- a special sunflower header that reduces threshing losses by 2%;
- perforated grids for collecting cereal plants;
- pick-up with articulated mounting, suitable for any type of field;
- specialized grid for harvesting corn;
- device for working with rapeseed;
- a device for collecting straw, allowing it to be formed into bales.
Built-in electrical equipment allows you to monitor the status of the main components and control the combine from the cab.
The Akros 580 is equipped with the latest Comfort Cab II, which is superior in terms of comfort to the Akros 530 model. Its airtightness, thermal, vibration, dust and noise protection indicators are an order of magnitude higher. The sprung cabin is equipped with a heater, audio system, air conditioning, voice announcement and a cooling chamber. Powerful LED spotlights allow you to work at night. I simply don’t want to leave such a comfortable place.
Advantages of the Acros 580 model:
- beater analyzers equipped with retractable combs and fingers. During the operation of the combine, the unit levels out the cut mass, ensuring rapid progress even when heavily clogged;
- modern Power Stream headers with different grips;
- reliable engine, optimally suited to the combine in terms of power and torque;
- autonomous final grinding mechanism with a blade design, which significantly reduces the risk of grain crushing;
- high economic efficiency;
- ease of use;
- various adapters and special devices that simplify work.

The productive grain harvester Akros 550 is used for harvesting wheat, and can be adapted for rapeseed, corn, sunflower and cereal crops. The equipment is no different from imported models, as you can see in the photo of the Akros 550 combine.
How the Akros 550 combine works
- When developing this model, the company's engineers provided the ability to control almost all systems directly from the operator's cabin, which is equipped with climate control and protected from excess noise and vibration.
- There are many auxiliary devices, among which are halogen headlights for working at night.
- One of the most important components that distinguishes the Acros 550 combine from other brands is the PowerStream header, the effective operation of which is complemented by a grain cleaning and threshing system.
- The hydraulic drive connector is universal, you can choose a model with a grip of 6.7 or 9 meters.
- The bunker capacity is nine thousand liters, but despite this, the unit is equipped with a high-performance elevator, which is designed for shipping purified grain.
The high productivity of the equipment is ensured by a threshing system with a large drum with a diameter of 80 centimeters. This will allow you to easily process even wet raw materials.

The Acros combine harvester of this series has a central cab location, thanks to which the working area has a 360° view.
Who breaks and how
Wandering around the forums, I noticed this. Owners of machines from Rostselmash say that if the combine “goes”, it will work, which is why there is even advice to purchase equipment for a year’s use. In general, there is probably some reason in these messages. Tests of combine harvesters of different models show that it is in the first year that more annoying minor problems occur. But now I will try to confirm or refute the conclusions of forum members using the found observation protocols of the operation of combines.
So, let's compare 5 Tucano 450 cars assembled in Russia and 5 Acros 590 Plus cars. CLAAS combines worked on farms in the Samara and Orenburg regions. Rostselmash combines are on farms in the Rostov region.
Let me remind you: the comparison is quite correct, since the Tucano 450 has been produced “for a long time and firmly”, and although the Acros 590 Plus differs from the younger model, both machines have the same “breakable” basis. I warn you: the results may be shocking, so I recommend that nervous people stop reading!
Combine harvester Akros 580
The multifunctional grain harvester RSM 142 Acros 580 easily copes with both early grain and other crops, regardless of weather conditions and air temperature.
The Akros 580 combine harvester, whose technical characteristics make it a highly productive and multifunctional unit, is suitable for large areas. With its help, you can harvest even in the dark, using LED spotlights, which makes harvesting work faster. Among the features that the Akros 580 combine harvester has are the following technical characteristics:
- A heavy drum has high inertia. The diameter is 80 centimeters, and it is effective even when wet ears, twisted or clogged stems fall into it.
- Under various conditions, the Acros combine can provide up to 95% separation, with minimal damage to the grain.
- Without header and fuel, the weight of the Akros 580 combine is 13,400 kilograms, and when fully equipped – 15,000.
- The equipment is equipped with a two-sieve cleaning system.
Combine harvester Akros 585
The RSM 142 Acros 585 grain harvester is popular among both domestic and foreign farmers. Among the main advantages that this equipment has, one can highlight the technical characteristics of the Akros 585 combine:
- Innovative grain separation technologies provide a high level of purification with minimal damage.
- Relief copying is carried out in transverse and longitudinal modes, which makes it possible to cultivate areas with complex landscapes and low yields.
- The Akros 585 combine harvester is designed with an all-metal cabin, which creates the most comfortable conditions for the operator.
- Power steering is provided, which can give the large machine ease of control and maneuverability.
A high level of productivity is observed, with extremely low fuel consumption and aggressive loads of the Acros 585 combine harvester.
Combine harvester Akros 590
The improved Akros 590 combine combines the advantages of previous variations. Among the main characteristics are the following:
- The Akros combine is equipped with an extended feeder chamber with an integrated beater.
- The model has a high degree of performance.
- Before the grain is fed into the threshing compartment, it begins to move faster, while being leveled.
- The straw walker keys have also been enlarged and their range of motion has increased.
- An additional sieve is provided in the cleaning system, expanding the separation area.
- The grain bin was equipped with a protective apron.
Structural additions increased the weight of the equipment by 1000 kilograms, but this feature did not affect the maneuverability and maneuverability of the vehicle.
Well, as a result
You can say, “This is Russia, my dear!” But, firstly, the degree of localization of Tucano 450 production is less than 50%; to put it simply, they do little in Russia, which is why the machines cannot be purchased under domestic programs to support agricultural producers. Secondly, the cost of Russian-assembled machines was not much lower than the price of “real” combines. Which, in theory, involves the use of high-quality components. Thirdly, Acros 590 Plus is also, you know, produced in Russia. So I wouldn’t risk blaming our collectors for sure.
Without a doubt, after such a failure, the manufacturer took steps to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, more recent data is not freely available, but I’m just sure that better quality cars are now coming off the CLAAS assembly line in Krasnodar.
As for Acros... Pandemonium with the failure of feeder conveyors is one of the most common complaints. Hey, Rostselmash engineers, hear the voice of those crying out, tea is not a desert. But the lesson is not for future use - I presented the results for the 590, but I already found complaints on the forums about the same failure on the 595.
And finally, on economics. Actually, there’s nothing to talk about. If the initial price is 3 times higher, then the cost of operation will be high. Even if the Tucano 450 does not break (which is incredible, since everything breaks everywhere), the cost of 1 ton of threshed grain will still be 2 times higher than the Acros with all its breakdowns.
And as one of the users of my favorite forums quite correctly noted, what’s the point of paying 3 times more if you can buy a new Russian combine every 3 years? And the imported one will turn into trash after these 9 years. Somehow like this. Good bread to you!

Test results
Tests of the RSM-152 “ACROS-590 Plus” grain harvester with a Cummins 6LTAA 8.9 Stage I engine have established:
- The workmanship is satisfactory.
- The productivity of the combine per hour of main time when directly combining winter wheat is 18.6 t/h (according to the specifications - at least 20 t/h with a yield of 40 c/ha). The discrepancy between the combine harvester and its productivity is due to the low yield of winter wheat (28.8 c/ha).
- The total grain loss behind the combine is 1.22%, including behind the header - 0.66% (according to the specifications - no more than 0.5%) and the combine thresher - 0.56% (according to the specifications - no more than 1.5% ). The excess of grain losses behind the header by 0.16% is explained by a violation of the optimal harvest time due to the late arrival of the combine for testing (almost at the end of harvesting of cereal crops), as well as low grain yield, which contributes to the choice of an increased speed mode. Low grain losses behind the thresher are explained by the unloading of the harvester's MSU with straw and chaff, since the ratio of grain mass to straw mass was 1:0.49, with the norm according to TU being 1:1.1 and STO AIST being 1:1.5. The quality of bunker grain in terms of crushing and impurities complies with the specifications and standards.
- Specific fuel consumption during shift work per ton of harvested wheat is 2.75 kg.
- The technological process proceeds steadily, the reliability coefficient of the technological process is 1.0 (according to the specifications - no less than 0.98).
- In terms of design safety, the combine harvester does not meet the requirements of GOST 12.2.019 in one point and GOST 12.2.120 in one point.
- After 128 hours of operating time, no failures due to changes made to the combine harvester design were observed.
- During the testing process, no changes were made to the design of the combine.
- The final technical examination established that the RSM-152 “ACROS-590 Plus” combine harvester with a Cummins 6LTAA 8.9 Stage I engine is in working order and suitable for further operation.
Conclusions from the test results
The change made to the design of the RSM-152 “ACROS-590 Plus” combine with a Cummins 6LTAA 8.9 Stage I engine is effective:
- hydraulic drain line with an increased flow area of the engine air intake mesh drive.
