The small-sized universal tractor Belarus MTZ 622 is produced at the assembly facilities of the MTZ production holding in Bobruisk. The model is designed to meet the requirements and demand for low-power machines in small farms and utility companies. The motive for the creation was the addition of a line of low-power tractor models together with MTZ 320 and MTZ 422, taking into account the dissatisfaction of consumer demand with machines of this traction class and increasing competition from foreign manufacturers. The tractor is one of the latest developments of the plant, meets all international standards and requirements, has traction characteristics of 0.9 t on the hook and an all-wheel drive wheelbase.
Creation of a small-sized tractor MTZ-622
The MTZ-622 tractor, also known as “Belarus-622”, is produced by the Bobruisk Tractor Parts and Assemblies Plant. This industrial enterprise was founded back in 1945, and in 1972 it became part of the Minsk Tractor Plant.
The range of products currently produced by BZTDiA OJSC includes large and small-sized tractor, loading and unloading and harvesting equipment, as well as components, spare parts and wheel rims for the entire range of vehicles produced by MTZ.
Work on the creation of small-sized tractors at the Bobruisk plant began in the early 2000s. The need to develop a new type of equipment arose in connection with the intensive development of private farm and agricultural enterprises, the scale of which was much smaller compared to collective farm property of the Soviet period, so the use of large special equipment became impractical.

Production of mini-tractors began in 2007. Along with the debut base model “Belarus-320”, equipped with a 36-horsepower engine, three more modifications based on it rolled off the factory assembly line: loading, harvesting and loading-harvesting machines, which received a similar index.
At the end of 2008, the line of small-sized equipment was expanded with the Belarus-422 model with a 49.8 hp engine, and a year later a new compact tractor, Belarus-622, was released, which received a 62.5 horsepower engine. It is designed for sowing and harvesting agricultural crops, preparing feed, cleaning areas and transporting goods. A comfortable cabin with good thermal insulation and a durable engine allow you to use this model in any weather and climatic conditions in the temperature range from -25 to +45˚С.
In the spring of 2022, at the exhibition of municipal equipment in Minsk, a new modification of the Belarus-622 tractor was presented, differing from the basic version in a cleaner engine that complies with the Euro-III standard, and wider wheels, “shod” in tires with a special “ lawn" protector.

The Belarus-622 mini-tractor is distinguished by power and economical fuel consumption, and it owes these important advantages to the progressive Lombardini LDW 2204T produced by the Italian concern Lombardini Fabrica Motori.

2.068 liter four-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine with pre-chamber injection, turbocharging and efficient water cooling (additional cooling is provided by a built-in axial fan), with a power of 62.2 “horses” (46 kW). The crankshaft rotation speed is 300 rpm. with a maximum torque of 174 Nm.
It should be noted that the turbocharging system in the Italian engine requires more frequent maintenance, however, this minor drawback is more than compensated by the high power and efficiency of the engine.
This engine modification complies with the latest European environmental safety requirements (certification 97/68/CE Step 3A). Minimum exhaust toxicity, fuel economy and reduced engine noise are achieved through the use of a built-in exhaust gas afterburning system. Purified exhaust gases are used in the operation of the turbocharging system, helping to increase the efficiency of the power plant by 18%.
The engine is equipped with a single-cylinder compressor designed to inflate tires and control the brakes of the trailer or other additional devices connected to the tractor.
The Belarus-622 model is equipped with an impressive 90-liter fuel tank, while the specific fuel consumption is only 329 g/kWh. In standard operating mode, on average, a tractor consumes about 7 liters of diesel fuel per hour.
The volume and speed of work performed must be optimized in such a way that the tractor engine can cope with the assigned tasks, consuming a minimum of 65 and a maximum of 85% of its nominal power. With systematic higher or lower loads, premature wear of the cylinder-piston group occurs, and the consumption of fuel and lubricants increases. In addition, long-term idling of the engine should be avoided.
Chassis and transmission
The MTZ-622 mini-tractor has a four-wheeled design with all-wheel drive, which are shod with wide-profile low-pressure pneumatic tires that provide high-quality traction on sandy, washed-out clayey and other problematic soils. The transmission design includes:
- single-disc friction, permanently closed clutch with mechanical manual control;
- a mechanical 16-speed (8 forward + 8 reverse gears) gearbox, which includes easy-to-use clutches;

Attachment system MTZ-622
The small-sized tractor MTZ-622 is equipped with a hydraulic linkage system, with the help of which mounted, semi-mounted and trailed equipment is connected and controlled. It is combined with a hydraulic steering system and includes the following elements in its design:
- separate oil pump on the gearbox;
- hydraulic lift to provide automatic positional, power and mixed regulation of the position of the equipment used relative to the ground;

The hinged mechanism consists of four, length-adjustable, hinged links (3 articulated lower links + central upper link), to which mounted and semi-mounted machines are attached and their working position is adjusted.

The transmission consists of a single-plate clutch, gearbox (8 stages: 8 front, 8 rear) and connected to it:
- intermediate building;
- rear axle drive shaft with forced locking installed on it;
- PTO;
- front drive and guide axle.
The steering hydraulics are independent. Thanks to the integration of two pumps with the steering column (hydraulic booster), the machine is easy to control. The first pump is installed on the steering column in the cabin, the second on the engine. The steering column itself is adjustable in height and tilt.
Attachments are connected using a hinged traction device at three points. During operation, the equipment can change position thanks to the 4-link hinge device. The PTO operates in two speed modes: synchronous or autonomous.

The tractor is equipped with two types of braking system: the main one is a disc type, divided by control wheels; parking-spare - autonomous drive, manual.
The electrical system consists of a battery, an alternating current generator with a rectifier and branched wiring to lighting, indicating, and control devices. Halogen lamps are used for lighting.
Cost of new and used MTZ-622 tractors
The cost of new cars varies depending on their configuration. Official dealer companies offer tractors without additional equipment at prices ranging from 20 to 30 thousand dollars. On the secondary market you can find options much cheaper - from 3 to 15 thousand dollars. Their price depends on the technical condition and remaining service life.
The most profitable time to purchase a used tractor and equipment for it is at the end of autumn, when harvesting work ends, but at the end of winter, prices for such equipment increase.

MTZ-622 is a high-performance tractor that is common in agriculture in such operations as hilling, harrowing, cultivating, plowing, loosening, as well as processing not only soft, but also hardened virgin soil. In addition, the model in question is in great demand in the transport sector, road construction work, for loading, unloading and towing heavy loads and trailers. MTZ-622 enjoys a high level of trust among not only government but also private institutions - largely due to its affordable cost and high performance. It is this combination that allows the MTZ-622 tractor, like other domestic equipment, to remain among the most popular machines on the Russian market and the entire post-Soviet space. The machine entered production in 2007 and is considered a relatively modern product.
