Mills, plows, harrows
As a rule, cutters are supplied complete with the MTZ walk-behind tractor and have various configurations. The main function that the unit must perform is milling and preparing the soil for further planting of crops. Plows and harrows also play an important role and are used on dense soils and virgin lands, i.e. where it will be difficult for a milling cutter to loosen the ground.
Features of use:
- The plow is used on dense soils or virgin soil. Its main purpose is to cultivate the soil and create a furrow, as well as subsequent filling of the raised soil. The plow, due to its size, can penetrate deep into the soil, thereby mixing the layers.
- Using a cutter, layers are mixed, as well as scattered fertilizers with the soil. It is advisable to use cutters on light and medium soils, since they may not dig up virgin soil.
- It is best to install a cultivator in Belarus in the spring and autumn, when it is necessary to clear the soil of weeds. With the help of this device, plants are ground with soil, thereby creating homogeneity.
- The use of a harrow occurs after plowing the area with a plow or cultivator. Since the harrow crushes piles of earth that remain after previous work.

What kind of oil to pour into a walk-behind tractor engine
There are several options for oil that can be poured into a walk-behind tractor engine:
- API CJ-4. Used for units with a capacity of 10-12 horsepower.
- API CH-4. It is suitable for four-stroke diesel engines.
- API CF-2. This option is suitable for equipment that is operated in difficult conditions. The composition contains additives that protect internal engine parts from rapid wear.
Fill the box with oil up to the marked mark without spilling it.
How to make a walk-behind tractor heavier
To weight the unit yourself, you need to prepare:
- 2 weights of 5 kg;
- 2 pancakes 10 kg each;
- 2 clutch baskets taken from a car or tractor;
- a piece of hexagonal solid profile;
- 2 walk-behind cotter pins.
Procedure:
- Cut 2 pieces of 5 cm each from the profile. Drill holes in them for the cotter pins.
- Attach the cut piece to the barbell plates.
- Insert the hexagon into the hole from the neck and weld it.
- Attach the clutch basket to the plate by welding.
- Attach a weight to the clutch.
- Paint everything and let the paint dry.
- Do the same steps for the second wheel.
This method allows you to make the walk-behind tractor 50 kg heavier.
You can add weight to the body of the equipment:
- Make a frame or take a pancake (25 kg) and weld it to the body, and then secure it with a bolt.
- You need to cut a hole in the frame to drain the oil.
Reversible plow for MTZ walk-behind tractor
You can make a plow for the MTZ walk-behind tractor with your own hands if you have metal processing skills, appropriate tools and materials:
- rectangular steel pipe for making the frame;
- cardboard for cutting out the template;
- welding machine;
- drill and metal drill bit;
- steel sheet 3-5 mm thick;
- a piece of high-alloy steel for making a plowshare;
- sandpaper;
- anvil;
- large hammer;
- sheet bending rollers or gas torch for heating the metal;
- chalk, marker, pencil.
Let's look at the process of making a reversible plow, which is excellent for plowing hard types of soil and virgin soil.
- First you need to make 2 plowshares for the trimming (lower) and turning (upper) elements. One longitudinal edge of the ploughshare is flattened on an anvil and then sharpened.
- Next, using the appropriate template, cut out two blades using gas or electric welding, the shape of which should be mirror-like relative to each other.
- Bend the blades by feeding them onto the bending rollers at an angle of 20°-23°, or shape them using a torch and hammer.
- Attach the plowshares to the blades with rivets; the fastener heads must be thoroughly polished.
- Make a stand from a rectangular pipe and weld it to the finished single-body plow elements.
- To strengthen the rigidity of the tipper, weld a steel corner to it on top.
- Make a cross member from the pipe, which will be connected to the rack using bolts. At one end of the element, weld a bracket into which you need to attach another short stand; its length should be sufficient to exit the zone of turning over earth. Drill holes for screws in this rack - this will be necessary to set the desired digging height.
- Using two welded plates with eyes, the rod of the MTZ walk-behind tractor is attached to the stand with two bolts and secured with nuts.
- If during work the earth gets stuck in the gap between the cutting and turning plows, a thin sheet of tin can be welded between them. Thanks to this, the soil will move smoothly and quickly in an arc and turn over in a layer.
Advantages of a self-made design:
- exactly matches the type of soil being processed: the blade angle and the width and depth of plowing are individually adjusted;
- the quality of materials and compliance with all technological standards are controlled - this increases the service life of the tool;
- the plow is made taking into account the power of a medium or heavy class walk-behind tractor, its weight is adjusted independently - this will ensure effective soil cultivation and eliminate wheel slipping;
- If necessary, an additional cutting disc or an adjustable wheel can be installed on the reversible plow.
