Description

The TDT-55 tractor, on caterpillar tracks, is used for transporting and stacking medium and large trees after they have been felled.
The TDT 55 tractor was developed specifically to perform work in highly complex conditions due to its heavy weight and engine power.

For a long time, tractors of earlier versions produced by the Onega Tractor Plant were used to implement a variety of tasks. But at the same time, the TDT-40 and its modifications ceased to meet most of the requirements already in the early 60s of the last century. This was the main impetus for the creation of the TDT-55.

The lead design organization OTZ designed a conceptually new model of this type of equipment - TDT-55. In 1962, the model passed all state tests completely successfully. By 1964, production of the TDT-55 was put on the assembly line. The main task of the tractor was to clear the forest. The volume of the whip for normal transportation should be 0.6 m2.

Development of this tractor model began back in 1950. The T-49 machine served as the basis for the development of a new tractor. The main task set for the designer was to maximize the functionality of the new machine. The main distinguishing feature of the TDT-55 from its predecessor, the TDT-40, was its greater performance and reliability. In general, the designers achieved the implementation of the task assigned to them.

The basis of the TDT-55 skidder is a welded rigid box-type frame.

To protect engine and transmission elements, special sheets are attached to the bottom of the frame . They are made folding and are bolted to the side members and cross members. For maintenance purposes, it is necessary to periodically clean the frame from dirt and wood residues.

The driver’s cabin is located asymmetrically on the frame, which is also the operator of the attached equipment.

The cabin is well insulated and has a large glass area, allowing you to control the working area around the machine. There is a powerful heater and fan.

Management is deliberately simplified because this special equipment operates in remote wooded areas. Therefore, the design provides a minimum of electrical equipment and control systems.

The movement process is regulated by two levers, with the help of which the machine turns and brakes. There are pedals: clutch and fuel pedal. There are winch control levers.

Next to the cabin is a diesel engine covered with a metal hood. Diesels SMD-18N-01 and SMD-14N are used as the power plant. For starting, a P-10UD starting engine with its own gearbox is mounted.

Transmission; checkpoint; hydraulic, chassis and fuel systems

The transmission includes a dry clutch with two discs, which has a front brake and hydraulic booster.

In addition, there is a five-speed non-synchronized gearbox, equipped with a gear shift lock when the clutch pedal is not pressed.

The transmission for driving the winch has a power take-off shaft. There are also cardan drives and a rear axle with band brakes.

The hydraulic system has one tank and two separate circuits, in which special pumps create pressure.

One GS circuit ensures the movement of the tractor and is served by an NSh-10 pump. The second controls additional equipment and working parts using the NSh-50 pump.

The suspension system consists of: a lever-balance suspension with spring suspension; guide wheels, which have tensioning and shock-absorbing devices; driving wheels and tracks.

The TDT-55 fuel system has its own peculiarities. It consists of a primary and backup system.

The main vehicle is constantly running. The backup system is turned on if it is necessary to add power to the engine or the main system fails.

However, the power of one backup vehicle is only enough to return to base for repairs at the lowest speed.

The working parts of the TDT-55 are a skidding shield, a winch, and a bulldozer pusher.

Maintenance

The TDT 55 tractor belongs to heavy professional skidding equipment. To operate it correctly, you should read the user manual.

  • TAP-15v is best suited for transmission. The transmission oil should be changed after 1000 hours of operation.
  • To refuel TDT 55 tractors, you must use clean and fresh diesel. The presence of sediment or foreign impurities in it is not allowed.
  • Engine parameters

    When selecting engines for installation on this unpretentious special equipment, manufacturers proceeded from the point of not complicating the overall design and at the same time obtaining the maximum possible effect from the propulsion system.

    Initially, the choice was made in favor of the SMD-18N.01 diesel engine:

    • four-stroke diesel internal combustion engine with direct injection and turbocharging, water cooling;
    • cylinder diameter – 120 mm;
    • engine capacity – 6.3 liters;
    • Czech-made injection pump;
    • power in l. With. - 100;
    • nominal speed – 1,800;
    • specific diesel fuel consumption – 224 g/kWh;
    • The average weight of a diesel engine is 800 kg.

    The TDT-55A and LHT-55 configurations included the SMT-14 diesel engine with the following technical characteristics:

    • a four-cylinder compressorless internal combustion engine with a vortex chamber formation of the mixture;
    • power in l. With. – 75-80;
    • nominal speed – 1,800;
    • Specific diesel fuel consumption – 218 g/kWh.

    Modifications of the TDT-55 tractor

    Over the course of decades of operation, modifications of the equipment of the type in question were produced. Most often today on the secondary market you can find:

    • TDT-55-05;
    • LHT – 55.

    The TDT-55-05 modification is earlier; in fact, it differs little in appearance from the basic version of the tractor in question. But at the same time, the D-245L engine is installed in this modification. Its power is 100 hp. and at the same time it can reach speeds of up to 15 km/h.

    The main purpose of this model remains the same – to work directly with loading and skidding of timber. An important feature of the modification is the reduced pressure of the tracks on the ground. On each side it is only 0.4 MPa.

    All this together made it easier to operate the tractor on sandy, sticky soils, as well as in winter. Cross-country ability has increased significantly. An electric rear window wiper has also been added.

    LHT-55 is much more significantly different from its prototype. And first of all – precisely by its appearance, overall dimensions:

    • length, mm – 6,450 mm;
    • width, mm – 2,360 mm;
    • height, mm – 2,450 mm.

    At the same time, the weight remained the same - 9.6 tons.

    The main objectives of this modification are as follows:

    • clearing of logging areas;
    • reforestation work;
    • cutting down new sites.
