We purchased a truck tractor with a mileage of 350 thousand kilometers. Bought in Yekaterinburg. MAN TGA has many tasks, many of them highly specialized. And therefore the car also has a decent list of modifications. The total permissible weight of 18 tons is not the limit. Among the “heavyweights” in the series are tractors from 32 to 41 tons with wheel arrangements 8x8 (all-wheel drive), 8x4 and 8x6. The weight of the road train in this case can reach 250 tons.
Lightweight models have wheelbases from 4x2 to 6x4. The line also includes 4x4 all-wheel drive. The areas of employment of vehicles are extensive: mainly, these are mainline tractors, trailers, dump trucks, garbage trucks, and concrete mixers. According to the manufacturer, the full “Efficient Line” (EL) equipment package allows you to reduce fuel consumption by approximately 3 l/100 km when operating as part of a road train with a gross weight of up to 40 tons. Such high indicators can be achieved thanks to the following measures:
· Tip Matic gearbox – with a special Profi control program, can operate both automatically and manually. The 12-speed gear shift system provides an optimal driving mode, reduces losses from unskilled driving, and provides an optimal reduction in diesel fuel consumption.
· Aerodynamic spoiler kit – significantly improves aerodynamic drag and contributes to fuel economy.
· Pressure control system – the unique Air Pressure Management (APM) system, when the required air pressure in the system is reached, automatically completely turns off the pneumatic compressor and, accordingly, eliminates the loss of energy from the main engine to its drive.
· Tires – a combination of the latest materials and tire designs reduces tire deformation, rolling resistance and fuel consumption.
· Daytime running lights from MAN – require only about a quarter of the power (25%) of halogen low beam lamps.
· Speed limit to 85 km/h is the most acceptable driving speed, allowing you to reduce rolling resistance by 10% compared to the figures at a speed of 89 km/h.
· New 120A generator – has 10A higher current and a 4% reduction in internal losses compared to the previous one.
· Reduced equipment weight – making components from aluminum significantly reduces the weight of the vehicle and increases the payload to 500 kg.
comparative tests of the actual diesel fuel consumption of MAN TGX 18.440 and MAN TGX 18.440 truck tractors with the economical Efficient Line package were carried out at the Belarusian Research Institute of Transport "Transtechnika". The measurements were carried out while driving along the Minsk ring road and the city of Minsk.
As a result of the tests, the following results were obtained - the recommended linear diesel fuel consumption rate for the MAN TGX 18.440 truck tractor is:
