Cabin and controls

Photo: cabin Belarus-1025
The peculiarity of this single-seat design is the presence of a rigid frame, which significantly reduces the risk of injury to the driver during a rollover. The lack of air conditioning is partially compensated for by ventilation of the cabin volume using adjustable glazing and a sunroof in the cabin roof.

The comfort of the workplace is increased due to improved thermal and sound insulation, convenient placement of controls, the presence of power steering, and a wide range of adjustments for the driver’s seat equipped with pneumatic shock absorption. The cabin volume is sufficient to install an additional less comfortable seat.

Device

The design of the MTZ-1025 tractor is typical, as for the entire series produced by the Minsk Tractor Plant.

Cabin

The MTZ-1025 cabin with a rigid metal frame, in the event of a tractor overturning, will not allow the heavy machine to crush the driver. Excellent visibility is provided by the large glass area.

The side and rear windows, as well as the sunroof, open for additional ventilation.

The front and rear windows are equipped with electric wipers. The interior of the cabin is made using modern high-quality materials, using noise-absorbing, molded panels.

The air intake from the ventilation system is located in the area of the side windows. And the filters are designed with the possibility of partial self-cleaning while the machine is moving.

The main control station is designed in such a way as to ensure maximum comfortable work for the operator. The brake pedals are double with a rational trajectory of movement. To the right of the driver is a remote control with controls for hydraulics, engine, and transmission.

The seat with pneumatic shock absorption has adjustments in all planes, as well as for the weight of the tractor driver. As an additional option, it is possible to install an additional passenger seat. The tractor is controlled by hydraulic displacement with a hydraulic pump and a metering distributor. A hydraulic cylinder is installed in the steering linkage.

Hydraulics and attachments

The hydraulic system in the mounted system on the MTZ-1025 is represented by two hydraulic cylinders located vertically. The system provides positional, power and mixed modes of operation, and also fixes attachments in the transport position.

The three-point hitch system is equipped with telescopic rods, which allow you to conveniently adjust the position of the attachment relative to the tractor. The braces have additional grooves for fastening wide-cut machines, and allow better contour following.

For quick and convenient attachment of attachments, an automatic coupling SA-1 is available. It can be installed on both the front and rear linkage. The tractor has three free pairs of hydraulic outlets, which are used to ensure the operation of hydrostatic linkage equipment. Hydraulic outlets can also ensure the operation of hydraulic motors.

Gearbox and transmission

The MTZ-1025 gearbox is a four-speed manual transmission. 16 forward speeds allow you to select a speed range from 2-3 to 37 km/h. 8 gears ensure the tractor moves in reverse at speeds from 4 to 17 km/h.

The tractor chassis is all-wheel drive. The advantages of the rear axle design with planetary gears are effectively realized through automatic differential locking. The front axle is modified by strengthening the axle shafts. The ability to disable front-wheel drive helps reduce the load on the transmission and significantly save fuel and lubricants.

The permanently closed, double-disc dry clutch ensures transmission of high torque with a significant reserve. The main and parking brakes of the tractor operate in parallel with similar devices on transport trailers.

The hydraulic two-cylinder three-mode hitch for MTZ 1025 is characterized by versatility, free access for adjustments and maintenance, and the ability to fix mounted units during transportation. The tractor linkage is fully compatible with branded units and with most tractor linkages from other manufacturers.

The design of the tractor provides three outputs of the hydraulic system, designed to drive mounted and trailed devices, as well as stationary engines with hydraulic drive.

Service

Timely preventative maintenance is the key to trouble-free machine operation.

  • Initially, the tractor is subject to mandatory running-in at partial load.
  • During this time, grinding of the working surfaces will occur with the formation of small metal shavings.

After running in, change the oils:

  • in the engine;
  • gearbox;
  • drive axles.

When the tractor enters normal operating mode, serial and special maintenance is carried out for its mechanisms.

Scheduled preventive maintenance is necessary for trouble-free operation of equipment, as well as timely diagnosis of faults.

The manufacturer specifies the following types of maintenance:

  • shift - carried out before starting work;
  • No. 1 - performed after 125 hours;
  • No. 2 - 500 h;
  • No. 3 - 1000 h;
  • special - every 2000 hours;
  • general - if necessary;
  • seasonal - carried out during the transition to autumn-winter (TO-OZ) and spring-summer (TO-VL) operation;
  • for storage - the machine is preserved when planning long-term downtime.

Setting up the plow

The plow is a mounted type of additional equipment. It is connected to a three-point coupling mechanism.

There are two types of adjustments for the plow: transport and working.

Pre-setting procedure:

  1. The plow is hung on the rear hitch.
  2. Place chocks under the wheels and lower the implement so that the plowshares touch the supporting surface.
  3. Lower the support wheel down and tighten its fastening.
  4. Align the frame relative to the horizontal.
  5. The braces are installed coaxially with the front holes in the longitudinal rods.
  6. Loosen the control chains so that they sag, but do not dangle too much.
  7. Set the interval between the hinge axles to 51 mm. To do this, adjust the distance between the eyes of the left brace.

Directly during work, check the plowing depth. If measurements along the edges show that it is not the same, the front link is lengthened or shortened.

At the same time, the central support should be located along the longitudinal axis of the tractor, and the chains should be loosened.

Additional Information! The quality of tillage and fuel consumption depend on the correct setting of the plow.

Adjustment of valves

When a diesel engine is running, the gap between the valves and rocker arms changes. This results:

  • to the appearance of noise;
  • decreased engine response.

The adjustment is performed in the following sequence.

  1. Remove the valve covers.
  2. Check the fixation of the rocker arm shaft supports.
  3. Set the piston of the first cylinder according to the marks at TDC during the compression stroke.
  4. Loosen the locknuts of the corresponding valves, set the desired gap by rotating the adjusting screw.
  5. Tighten the loosened nuts, controlling the setting. If the gap changes, the procedure is repeated taking into account the amendments.
  6. Adjust the remaining clearances by setting the pistons of other cylinders to TDC during the compression stroke.
  7. Assembly is performed in reverse order.

Advantages and disadvantages of the MTZ-1025 model

The designers managed to create a machine that combines:

  • versatility of use;
  • affordable price;
  • moderate fuel and oil consumption;
  • high maintainability;
  • quite long service life.

In many respects, the unification of spare parts and entire units has been preserved, which makes it possible to reduce the downtime of the unit when performing repair work of varying levels of complexity.

A characteristic drawback of the first series is overheating of the engine in the summer heat due to the low efficiency of the cooling system. The problem is solved by replacing the standard four-row radiator with a more efficient five-row one. Manufacturers promptly responded to fair complaints from operators, so in all subsequent series this deficiency was completely eliminated.

The lack of air conditioning in the cabin of the basic MTZ-1025 model is compensated by its moderate cost. The tractor is equipped with additional equipment only after completing a separate application.

Performances

"Belarus" 1025 series is produced in several modifications.

  • In the model designation this is reflected by a number written through a dot after indicating the type of machine.
  • MTZ-1025 is produced in 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 versions.

They all have:

  • identical design and equipment;
  • various engine power systems.

As the index increases, diesel meets more stringent environmental standards regulating the content of toxic substances in exhaust gases.

The hood of the MTZ-1025.2 model is fundamentally different from other modifications. It is represented by straight, chopped forms, while the rest have smooth outlines.

Price of a tractor - new or used

The price range of a car with zero mileage in different regions of the country varies between 25-30 thousand USD. For many farms, the problem is solved by purchasing second-hand equipment that has already used up a significant part of its intended resource.

Depending on the number of operating hours, technical condition and equipment, the price for a used tractor model 1025 ranges from 250 to 500 or more thousand hryvnia ($10,000 - $20,000). The basis for a significant discount may be the appearance of the car, worn tires on the wheels, or the malfunction of individual components and mechanisms.

The availability of a wide selection of spare parts and assemblies contributes to the accelerated commissioning of faulty equipment; however, saving on the purchase of a machine with a minimum remaining life is in any case not economically feasible.

Analogs

This category presents models that differ from the MTZ 1025 in engine power and the presence of additional or more advanced units. In particular, tractors of the MTZ 952, 892 and 1021 models may be distinguished by the presence of a synchronized gearbox, a travel range or additional power take-off shafts.

The closest analogue in terms of performance characteristics is the rather expensive Chinese-made tractor YTO-X904. The lower power of this car is compensated by the presence of a more advanced FIAT transmission and PERKINS engine. The traction capabilities of the Chinese counterpart are lower, however, the tractor can work with attachments designed for more powerful machines.

History of creation

MTZ-1025 is an improved series “1000”.

  • The first model of this class left the plant's assembly line in 1996.
  • After making changes to the basic design, Minsk tractor manufacturers began producing the MTZ-1025. The first updated model was assembled in 2004.
  • The company still produces several modifications of the series.

Owner reviews

The tractor was taken second-hand with low mileage. The machine has been used on the farm for 3 seasons. Confidently pulls a three-furrow plow, a wide-cut cultivator or a ten-cubic-meter tank on a wheeled chassis. Fuel consumption is at the level of the less powerful MTZ-82. Leonid is a farm tractor driver

Wide tires make it a little more difficult to handle row spacing, but sensitive steering hydraulics help out here. The distance margin is small, so the work requires increased attention. Valentin Vladimirovich - farmer

Many reviews especially note the reliability of Minsk tractors, their unpretentiousness to fuel and oils, and the possibility of self-repair in the field.

Exploitation

MTZ-1025 tractors are capable of performing the entire range of agricultural work. This is facilitated by the widest selection of mounted, trailed and semi-mounted equipment and a high towing class of 1.4 t.p.

The machine is also good because its use is suitable for both large and small farms. For example, in areas where MTZ-80/82 will be heavy, and “1221”, on the contrary, will be idle, our hero will come in handy. It can use attachments like its smaller brothers, as well as wide-cut, high-performance implements.

It has also proven itself excellent in animal husbandry. He is capable of any work involving the preparation of feed. Perfectly aggregated with trailed, high-performance forage harvesters. Mowers with a large working width and the ability to flatten legumes for better drying, for example trailed KPP-4.2. Delivery of feed to farms and removal of organic fertilizers to fields.

The ability to install a powerful loader with a large carrying capacity, a mounted excavator, and a front blade blade ensured that the tractor was widely used in construction and road work.

By installing a mounted manipulator, or skidding device, the tractor is successfully used in the forestry industry.

I suggest listening to those who work with this tractor and are familiar with it firsthand:

  1. I’ve been working at MTZ-1025 for four years now, cultivating 100 hectares. I plow with a reversible three-furrow plow, a cultivator with a working width of 6 m. I showed myself well in transport work, for example, it pulls a barrel of about 10.5 m3 calmly, the main thing is to be more careful on descents. Previously, I kept the DT-75 specifically for plowing, now the “1025” covers the entire list of works, although I still have the MTZ-82 in the wings.
  2. This is my second year using the equipment. The original front fenders are an obvious defect, they wrap up no matter how you adjust them, I suffered for several days and then threw them out. The engine is good, there is enough power, but it got warm under load, I tried changing the thermostat, it didn’t help. It turned out there was a problem with overheating, this is not only a problem with my tractor, I solved it by installing a 5-row radiator. The hitch has two vertical power cylinders, this is a big plus, but there is no forced lowering, which is very frustrating, only under the weight of the equipment. The steering is excellent, control of the PTO and front axle is convenient. In general, the car is not bad, but there are plenty of disadvantages.
  3. For those who are hesitant to use the MTZ-1025 in the inter-row because of wider tires than on the MTZ-82, I will say. I work in a row spacing of 70 cm. The tractor fits, although the distance margin is minimal. A little practice and you get used to it.
