One craftsman managed to acquire a rare copy of PAZ-3201-S. This model was the first in the world with all-wheel drive (serial). But these are not all the differences, namely 3201-C is the northern version, it used double glazing and did not have the usual windows on the roof itself.

Bus management and maintenance

All controls were correctly arranged and did not block access to each other. The control sensors were also located in the optimal zone and were always in front of the eyes. Ventilation was carried out naturally through opening side windows. Heating was carried out using an autonomous heater and an engine cooling system. Northern modifications received a more powerful heating system and improved body insulation. The body is all-metal, load-bearing, carriage-type. Its service life was 7-10 years, depending on operating conditions.

Maintenance and repair of the PAZ 3201 did not require much effort and time. All components and assemblies had a high safety margin and rarely failed. The engine was accessible directly from the cabin, which made it possible to service it in any weather. The bus was unpretentious in terms of the quality of fuels, lubricants and other working fluids. If necessary, spare parts for repairs could be easily obtained from the manufacturer. Many parts were unified with other production buses, so there was no shortage on the market.

In just 10 years, 13,874 copies of all-terrain buses were produced, of which almost half are the northern modification. Today the price of PAZ 3201 ranges from 30 to 250 thousand rubles. It depends on the year of manufacture, mileage and general technical condition of the vehicle. A normal copy, which will not require large investments to bring it into decent shape, will cost about 150 thousand rubles.

Interior features

At the time of production, PAZ 3201 had a very comfortable interior, designed for 45 passengers, of which 26 seats were seats. According to technical safety rules, it was forbidden to carry standing passengers on the bus, since an elevated center of gravity contributed to a decrease in lateral stability, which increased the risk of lateral capsizing. But in practice, the transport overcame any obstacles with 40-45 passengers on board without any problems. The seats were shared and were designed for 2 people. There were no armrests, as was the ability to adjust the backrest angle. The outer skin was made of leatherette, which was highly resistant to wear and retained its appearance for a long period of time. A special handrail was attached behind each seat, which standing passengers could hold on to.

Access to the interior was provided by a single side door, which opened automatically from the driver's seat. The cabin was not separated from the passenger compartment by a partition, so the driver had to maintain high concentration and not be distracted by extraneous sounds. The workplace had a comfortable seat that could be adjusted according to the angle of the backrest and the distance from the dashboard. The steering wheel had a large diameter, which made it easier to perform various maneuvers on the road, since the hydraulic booster was not included in the package.

Restoration of all-wheel drive bus PAZ 3201-S

PAZ 3201 is an all-wheel drive public transport bus model. Produced by the Pavlovsk plant from 1972 to 1982. The bus was intended for use in rural areas, on poor roads. The PAZ-3201, compared to other serial buses, has increased ground clearance and a different chassis. One craftsman managed to acquire a rare copy of PAZ-3201-S. This model was the first in the world with all-wheel drive (serial). But these are not all the differences, namely 3201-C is the northern version, it used double glazing and did not have the usual windows on the roof itself.

This particular bus, manufactured in 1984, has a 4.2 liter gasoline engine (120 hp). The man bought it from the military unit, where it was stored in a hangar.

The new owner brought this very rare bus to his place and began working on it. The first thing was to do everything inside the bus, because there simply was no interior; it was not intended for a military unit. The interior had to be taken from a similar model.

Well, then the process of body repair began.

The rust had to be cleaned off and the holes filled with new metal.

Journey to Malaria, final part V (painting)

So, after 2 months of trash and hardcore, the bus was prepared for painting and handed over to the painters for putty, primer and painting. We had a couple of weeks of rest, after which the final push lay ahead.

This is how I saw the bus after painting, well, the color is fire! No wonder I chose the shade Ruby

In the box by that time, the furnace was working at the very least during mining

Back in the fall, I threw the molding sealant, covered with a layer of silt and dirt, into a bucket under the ebb of the roof. I got a logical result)))) In the end, it still had to be washed at a self-service car wash, which should have been done right away.

The moldings themselves had a faded appearance, so it was decided to paint them.

I took off the film.

I installed the bumpers, hatches and sunroofs, started connecting the lighting equipment, and carefully all the wiring was signed. The most severe suffering was still drying in the painting booth.

The roof was covered with sealant

((How to draw an owl)), about five days, and the moldings ((turned out to be)) were in place.

Takes on a marketable appearance

Beautiful lanterns on the roof. Half an hour of work each. Everything had to be coated with sealant. The mass, by the way, on all the lighting equipment, where it came to hand, was coated with KVT conductive paste

Need I mention that it took 4 tubes of sealant to ((grease)) the bus. I tried to do it conscientiously so that it wouldn’t leak anywhere. In places where corrosion is likely and no sealant was used, ((machmala)) - a mixture of lithol and diesel fuel))

As a result, on the fifth day of assembly, I drove out of the gate through snowdrifts and at two o’clock in the morning))) Gasoline, of course, ran out after 200 meters, and in the tenth minute of the road that continued through the stump, all the lights were knocked out, except for the interior and emergency lights. The damn Chinese ((piglet)) shorted out on the bomb bay, as it turned out later.

This is how the bus arrived at its place of registration.

And within a month I managed to act in a movie.

But this is not the end, you have to live with the groove, it is best for it to stand near a private house, because something in it constantly needs to be picked, improved and ((modified with a file)). Which is what my opuses will soon be published about.
