The average passenger capacity of such buses is 47-49 people. The spacing depends on the density of “population” and the amount of auxiliary equipment. Thus, the 47-seater Higer comes with an additional refrigerator in front of the first row of seats and a mini-buffet with a cooler, which the Czech car does not have.

Naturally, the increasingly popular 13.5-meter and even triaxial 15-meter airliners can be put on the route. The main thing is to understand that simply transporting passengers, even between countries, and sightseeing tours are completely different things. Indeed, in the first case, a passenger, after spending a day on the bus, gets off it and forgets about the trip, and in the second, the bus becomes like a home for a whole week, and then there are much more requests for living on it.
Recently, the appearance of tourist buses with a 1-0-1 door layout has become more frequent. Among the latest high-profile shows, it is worth highlighting the two-axle Viseon C10 and the three-axle Setra S419 GT-HD. The undoubted advantage of this arrangement is the transfer of 4 seats from the stern to a more comfortable middle part and a single luggage compartment between the 1st and 2nd axles. In addition, thanks to the transfer to the rear of the toilet room, you can now stand there at full height without feeling the pressure of the inclined wall. And the emergence of the opportunity to place a mini-kitchen should not be underestimated. With the now common 1-1-0 door layout, this was quite problematic.

However, these are just tentative steps for now. Viseon C10 has been in Russia for a year now. It was put into trial operation by one of the carriers and even received good reviews. But the high price for the brand, which is not yet very well known in Russia, has still not allowed it to find a buyer.
In general, 12-meter tourist buses can be considered the most promising “standard size” for solving most problems in their “genre”.

Naturally, with such passenger capacity and the tendency of tourists to carry almost their entire wardrobe with them, standard luggage compartments are often not enough. Therefore, wall-mounted luggage racks at the stern can be considered an integral attribute of a real “tourist”.
And now about the sad thing. The price of such machines is incredibly high. That’s why we have practically no new double-decker buses. They appear at exhibitions, attracting enormous attention to the brand as a whole and, having fulfilled their advertising function, leave Russia. The same cars that we meet on the highways most often operate as long-distance or shuttle-custom vehicles, and do not leave Russia. Because even on the used market their cost is very high, and when it drops to an acceptable level, the bus is so “tired” that no one dares to release it to Europe.
