Lawn Next is available in 2 modifications, which differ in body types:

Dimensions

The length of the new truck can vary from 6,435 mm to 7,910 mm, depending on the body type. Its width is the same for all versions – 2,307 mm. The height of the van reaches 2,418 mm, and the ground clearance is 262 mm, which allows the lawn to drive on many roads, including those that are not of high quality.

Regarding the chassis parameters, they are as follows:

– front wheel track – 1,740 mm;

– rear wheel track – 1,690 mm;

– wheelbase – from 3,770 mm to 4,515 mm.

In this case, the total weight is 8,700 kg.

Load data

The maximum load on the front axle and the rear axle differ by an order of magnitude:

– front axle – 2,650 kg;

– rear axle – 6,600 kg.

As for the carrying capacity, it depends on the model. Thus, the maximum figure for the C41R11 version is 5,000 kg, while for the C41R31 modification it is slightly less - 4,700 kg.

Engines

The new GAZon will be equipped with two power units, depending on the modification. These are turbocharged diesel engines, and one of them is imported, and the other is a purely Russian development.

Their design is largely similar. Both engines are 4-stroke and have a charge air cooler. They each have 4 cylinders with a vertical, in-line arrangement, and both of them are designed to meet Euro-4 environmental requirements. But there are also many differences that relate to power, torque and displacement.

An imported unit like the Cummins ISF 3.8 e4R has a volume of 3.76 liters. This allows the engine to develop a power of 152.3 hp. With. at around 2,600 rpm. In addition, such an engine produces 497 Nm of torque in the range from 1,200 to 1,900 rpm. The domestic engine YaMZ-5344-20, produced at the Yaroslavl Motor Plant, has a volume of 4.43 liters. Its power is less, despite the advantage in cubic capacity, and amounts to 137 hp. With. at 2,300 rpm. And the torque is 490 “newtons” in the range from 1,200 to 1,900 rpm.

The maximum speed to which these engines can accelerate a GAZ is 100 km/h.

GAZon Next has a new gearbox installed. This is a 5-speed MT designed to transmit torque up to 500 Nm. Along with it comes a single-plate, dry clutch of the Sachs ZF type, a maintenance-free cardan transmission and a hypoid-type final drive.

Chassis

The GAZon Next suspension has been seriously modernized. A spring chassis is mounted at the front and rear, equipped with anti-roll bars and springs 1,600 mm long. It is combined with hydraulic shock absorbers of a telescopic design, operating on a double-acting principle. This is complemented by a WABCO-type pneumatic braking system and disc brakes.

As a standard, the Lawn is equipped with wheels with a dimension of 8.25R20. But it is possible to order low-profile 17.5-inch wheels. They make it possible to significantly reduce the loading height – to 1,170 mm from 1,300 mm.

As you can see, the technical characteristics of the new GAZon Next truck really meet the requirements of the time, and the vehicle itself will become a formidable competitor to foreign manufacturers, such as IVECO or Fiat.

As some say, at the automobile plant in Gorky there is such a “tradition” - initially to create a brand new car, and then, slowly, begin to bring it to fruition. It's a little funny, but unfortunately true. Therefore, it feels that today the GAZon Next is still a crude vehicle.

3 years will pass, then you can confidently purchase this model. Although, it is necessary to pay tribute to the design department of the plant. After all, old cars, along with their archaic design and technical equipment, have simply become obsolete. It’s just that, logically, a new model suggested itself, otherwise GAZ could simply lose its products.

Although, to be honest, the better the “domestic” car, the fewer Russian parts it contains, and you can’t argue with that. Overall, the car turned out to be pleasant, fresh and mysterious.

Why mysterious? Since they haven’t been able to fully test it yet. But the power unit began to consume significantly less fuel, and the power was not reduced. The gearbox began to work much better (of course, it has German roots), the braking system even acquired disc brakes on all wheels, as well as electronic auxiliary systems such as ABS.

Inside, it also became much more pleasant and easier for the driver to work. There is plenty of free space in the cabin. One thing is clear, the Gorky Automobile Plant is clearly on the right direction of development of the automotive industry. Car history

When 2014 arrived, the Gorky Automobile Plant Group, following a series of intriguing announcements, was able to present a car that was original for the Russian Federation - GAZon Next.

The new product was positioned as a replacement for several well-known generations. Initially, the company decided to say goodbye to the GAZ-3307 car, the production of which began in Soviet times (1987).

After approximately 30 years of production, the truck has become significantly outdated, despite a whole list of improvements. Taking all this into account, marketing specialists did not rack their brains and decided to name the new vehicle “Lawn”.

By the way, this is precisely the way people used to call the company’s past issues. The model even became the successor to the latest generation GAZ-33088. Over 25 years, the company was able to sell more than 2,000,000 GAZ-3307 and 33088 models.

Moreover, almost a million of them continue to be successfully operated today. But taking into account medium and small businesses, due to the need to update machines, I began to buy foreign analogues more often.

Consumers did not want to purchase outdated equipment, even if its pricing was not so high. In part, this was the reason for designing a completely new model.

LAWN Next turned out to be completely original, and in appearance it has nothing in common with all its predecessors. This allowed the model to attract justified attention and start using this car.

During the premiere display of the truck, the President of the Russian Federation was present, which indicated the considerable importance of such an event. Manufacturers promised potential buyers the durability of the model and excellent performance.

Despite the good localization of production, the car is a fusion of domestic and foreign elements. Therefore, the new GAZon Next acquired the cabin of the latest generation of GAZelle, the clutch was installed by ZF (Germany), and the brake system was installed by Valdai. A similar principle provided the opportunity to make a high-quality car.

The history of GAZON Next includes not a single family, and the car itself is just beginning to gain popularity. But the design team is confident that in the medium-duty section, GAZon Next will be able to beat many competitors.

In its standard configuration and platform, the car can transport up to 5 thousand kilograms, which makes it one of the best compared to other models.

The manufacturer will offer several design options, which differ in the type of wheelbase (4x4, 4x2), ground clearance (315 and 265 mm), as well as the length of the platform (standard or an extended modification).

The car is not only a narrow-profile truck, but a large family, which is divided into 3 groups: off-road, universal and urban. The off-road version is considered to be the successor of the 66th Lawn (the presence of a modernized platform and a unique technical component).

The 2nd one looks a little like the standard Lawn 3307, which, as a result, allowed it to get rather large wheels, a respectable ground clearance and good cross-country ability. The most important drawback of this model is its solid loading height.

The urban modification does not have this disadvantage by installing wheels with a smaller diameter, but they will not be suitable for rough roads. Any of the modifications can have two types of cabins (three- and seven-seat cabin).

GAZon Next S42R11 is the optimal solution for long-distance transportation of various cargoes, thanks to the spaciousness of the interior. The Cummins ISF 3.8 e4R and our domestic YaMZ 5344 engine generally coincide in their characteristics, having 4 cylinders each and a standard five-speed gearbox.

The only difference is in engine volume and power. The domestic version has a volume of 4.43 liters and 149 hp, while the Chinese version has a volume of 4.43 liters and 153 hp. respectively.

GAZ-SAZ - the most notable models

GAZ-SAZ-2507 new Next dump truck

Relatively recently, a new dump truck using the Lawn-Next chassis appeared on the market. This model of joint production of the GAZ and SAZ plants was immediately highly appreciated by enterprises working in the field of agriculture, construction and urban public services. The car really turned out to be very successful - its payload is 4.5 tons, which is comparable to the performance of the previous generation car. However, its main advantage was the volume of the body, which can vary from 5 to 11.5 cubic meters depending on the height of the sides. Due to this, the machine can be used to transport any type of cargo - from agricultural products to construction waste and wet soil. In addition, the body of the GAZ-SAZ-25072 dump truck can be unloaded in three directions, which allows it to be used in combination with various types of agricultural machinery.

The value of a dump truck for enterprises operating in these areas is very high. The fact is that today the car has virtually no competitors - cars produced by foreign companies are very expensive (the price is 1.5–3 times more), and domestic equipment has large dimensions and is equipped with large engines that require a large amount of fuel. Therefore, Lawn-Next remains the only Russian-made compact dump truck today that can be used in any sector of the economy.

It is worth saying that this is not the first experience of joint production of GAZ vehicles and the Saransk Dump Truck Plant (SAZ). Cooperation between the two companies began back in the 1950s. The joint development models used quite original technical solutions - to learn more about this, it is worth considering the most remarkable cars produced by the two factories.

Beginning of work

The first model assembled at the SAZ plant was the GAZ-93B multi-purpose dump truck. Initially, it was produced at the Odessa Automobile Assembly Plant, but by decision of the ministry it was decided to create an assembly line at the then Saransk Mechanical Plant.

In 1958, the first batch of dump trucks was produced, which were supplied to construction and agricultural enterprises in the country. Their distinguishing feature was a large all-metal body with a volume of 3.2 cubic meters. Compared to the base GAZ-93 car, which was made of wood and had a volume of 1.65 cubic meters, this made it possible to obtain a significant increase in reliability, as well as reduce the cost of transporting products with low volumetric weight.

In 1959, dump truck production became large-scale - more than 8,000 vehicles were produced in a year. In 1960, it was decided to separate the workshop into an independent enterprise - the Saransk Dump Truck Plant, as it is called to this day.

First development

In the early 60s, SAZ was given the first serious design task. The country needed a machine for automated loading of root crops into agricultural units (seeders, washing and sorting machines). The result of the research work was the original SAZ-2500 loader, which was based on the short GAZ-93D dump truck chassis.

The car body had a volume of 2.7 cubic meters and had attachments for extendable wooden sides, which increased the capacity to 5.2 cubic meters. Thanks to the use of a special lever mechanism with a hydraulic drive, it rose to a height of up to 3 meters and tilted in this position at an angle of up to 45 degrees. The machine could also be used for automated loading of agricultural products into piles, which expanded its functionality compared to the technical specifications.

Until 1966, 4,383 SAZ-2500 dump trucks were produced.

Three axles for GAZ truck

Currently, GAZ trucks are produced only in a two-axle version. All three-axle equipment is produced exclusively in Miass at the URAL plant. However, at the end of the 60s, a three-axle GAZ-SAZ 33–02 car was tested near Moscow, which participated in a competition between several automobile manufacturers of the USSR.

In 1966, a technical specification was set for the production of a three-axle vehicle with increased payload capacity, which could be used on large construction sites, as well as in intercity transportation. Developments in accordance with this task were carried out at the GAZ and ZIL plants, as well as by a separate team of the ZIL design bureau, which subsequently participated in the creation of the KamAZ plant.

The car was similar to the GAZ-53A, but the similarity was limited only to appearance and several common components. The car frame was developed anew, and the elongated body was installed on special cushions that absorbed most of the loads, reducing wear when transporting large loads. Based on the GAZ-33, SAZ also created a dump truck, the body of which was only half a meter shorter than that of the original model.

The carrying capacity was equal to 6 tons in both the on-board and tipper versions, and the drive was two rear axles combined into a common “trolley”. The standard engine used on the GAZ-53A was not suitable due to too little thrust. A new eight-cylinder carburetor unit with a volume of 5.53 liters and a power of 135 horsepower was developed for the car. In essence, it was an engine from the Chaika GAZ-13, adapted to run on A-76 “agricultural” gasoline. The design of the car used a single-stage transfer case with a reduction number, as well as a single-stage power take-off designed for connecting attachments.

During testing, the GAZ-SAZ 33–02 performed excellently. Its cross-country ability was much higher than that of the GAZ-53A thanks to two drive axles. In addition, it was ahead of its direct competitor, the ZIL-170, which was a prototype of the KamAZ-5320. The machine was recognized as suitable for operation in difficult conditions, and could also be sent to agricultural enterprises and collective farms without any special modifications. However, a purely political decision was made - no one was going to refuse to build a plant in Naberezhnye Chelny, and it had to assemble a fundamentally different model of equipment. The GAZ-33 project was forgotten, and after some time, the ZIL-133 and ZIL-133GYA, which corresponded to it in terms of their main characteristics, with a diesel engine produced by the Yaroslavl plant, were released.

Road train for agriculture

In 1984, the SAZ plant showed the SAZ-6008 agricultural road train at an exhibition dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the formation of the Soviet automobile industry. It consisted of a GAZ-4509 truck and a special GKB-8536 trailer. The road train was intended for transportation of grains, vegetables and other agricultural products with a relatively low volumetric mass. Dumping platforms mounted on a truck and trailer could be tilted at an angle of up to 50 degrees in three directions, which made it possible to unload them without disengaging.

Interestingly, the road train was a kind of concept car. In the form of a road train, a five-ton diesel truck equipped with an air-cooled engine was presented to the public for the first time. For its time, it was quite progressive, but after the start of mass deliveries of foreign-made equipment to the USSR and then to Russia, the car ceased to be in demand. The SAZ-6008 road train was produced in a small series from 1986 to 1993 - approximately 500 units were produced.

In 1991, production of a civilian modification of the GAZ-66–16 truck began. At the same time, the Saransk plant was given technical specifications for the production of an all-wheel drive dump truck for agriculture and construction in very difficult conditions. In the same year, a car called GAZ-SAZ-3530 appeared, which had unloading on the rear side. In 1992, a model with index 3531 came out of the factory gates, the platform of which could tilt on three sides.

The machine was in great demand only among specialized organizations that serviced oil and gas fields, as well as among builders who worked in the Far North. It turned out to be extremely inconvenient for agriculture. Drivers complained about the cramped cabin, designed for combat use, as well as the low payload of only 2 tons.

At the same time, the advantage of the chassis, expressed in incredible maneuverability, was completely lost. The chassis arrived at SAZ without a single tire rear axle, as well as a centralized wheel inflation system and mechanical locking of all differentials. As a result, the cross-country ability was only slightly higher than that of the then popular GAZ-SAZ-3507–01 dump truck and much lower than that of the modern Sadko.

Converted conversion GAZ-66s in military configuration, which were also produced by the SAZ plant in the 1990s, were in much greater demand. Thanks to their cross-country ability, they could move freely across wet arable land while loaded.

Modern road train

In the late 90s and early 2000s, Russian manufacturers actively experimented with converting compact commercial vehicles to work as part of road trains. SAZ did not stand aside - experiments were carried out even with compact UAZs and Gazelles.

However, the most successful option is considered to be a small road train built on a Valdai chassis. It received the name SAZ-3414 - this vehicle was designed to transport 7.5 tons of cargo and could be used to travel long distances. Most often, such vehicles were used to transport large-sized cargo with low weight - for example, foam plastic, mineral wool and other insulation materials. In addition, they have found application in “shuttle transportation” due to the ability to change semi-trailers.

Not only standard options were put on sale, but also cars equipped with additional sleeping compartments mounted on the roof or behind the cabin. In addition, the vehicles could be equipped with a power take-off, allowing the use of a dump semi-trailer.

Pros and cons of dump trucks

Talking about the advantages or disadvantages of recently released technology is always difficult. In fact, a certain time period must pass, after which the owners and buyers of a certain vehicle can accurately describe everything that they liked about the operation, voice the main advantages and some of the designers' shortcomings.

The GAZon Next dump truck, the video presentation of which you can watch on the website, was released relatively recently, in 2014, and some of its modifications only at the beginning of 2015. In such a short period of time, no obvious complaints were identified in the operation of this equipment ; moreover, the obvious advantages of these dump trucks can be noted. Below are the main advantages noted by many experts.

Reliability and thoroughness. The plant’s specialists carefully thought through the entire design of the dump truck, using in their work the knowledge of many of the world’s leading automobile concerns. High-quality foreign components and improved connections and assemblies were used in production. Thanks to the galvanized cabin, the dump truck is reliably protected from various negative influences of weather conditions, including corrosion.

Budget and benefits. Despite the use of foreign technologies and components, GAZon Next remains a relatively inexpensive piece of equipment that is affordable for many entrepreneurs of all levels. In addition, this dump truck has very inexpensive spare parts , which significantly reduces the cost of possible repairs.

High functionality. Dump trucks are presented in various modifications designed to perform specific tasks. In addition to different body types, the dump truck also includes different interior capacities. Another positive point was the increase in carrying capacity to 5 tons.

Possible truck malfunctions

In addition to relatively minor faults that do not take much time to repair, there are also more serious problems. First of all, we are talking about problems with hydraulics.

During long-term operation, minor leaks of hydraulic elements are observed. The truck's design is designed in such a way that even with a small leak, the driving performance of the GAZ is not reduced.

On the one hand, the driver will continue driving to the place where there are tools for repairs. On the other hand, the car remains for a long time without proper technical inspection. Drivers do not attach importance to the leak that appears; as a result, after 1-2 months the car becomes unusable. In addition to hydraulic fluid, truck hydraulic cylinders often fail.

The manufacturer made sure that the GAZ 3307 and its cargo modification could cope with various loads:

  • hard loading and unloading;

  • driving on a dirt road;

Depending on the intensity of driving, the driver is required to do a preventive examination every 3 months. The primary focus is on the hydraulic system, housing and engine. Despite the fact that the vehicle diagram does not include parts that are difficult to find, there is no need to allow serious damage.

The problem is that one breakdown often provokes a chain reaction. For example, when hydraulic fluid begins to leak, the engine starting circuit fails. A temporary, seemingly simple defect will result in a lengthy and expensive repair. If you are planning a long trip, it is strongly recommended that you take material with you to carry out repairs along the way. First of all, you need to pay attention to hydraulic pipes, hydraulic units, body mounts and oil.

Ergonomics

The company's specialists and designers paid great attention to the ergonomics and driving performance of the vehicle. was powered, allowing the dump truck to respond precisely to the control specified by the driver.
