The K-708UDM universal road machine replaced the K-702UDMVA-UDM2 model. The power of the new product was increased by 27.5%, productivity increased by 1.5-2 times. To achieve this, the plant’s specialists made a number of improvements: the new product was equipped with a fuel tank designed for 600 liters, and the hydraulic cycle time was halved to 12 seconds. The K-708UDM was equipped with an 8-cylinder V-shaped diesel power unit YaMZ-238ND5 with turbocharging and water cooling, which produces 300 hp.
The load capacity of the UDM was increased to 7 tons, the capacity of the bucket is now 4.1 cubic meters. m, the width of the bulldozer blade is 3.16 m. The operating weight of the new product is 23 tons. I would like to separately note that the Kirovets K-708UDM universal road vehicle is fully prepared for the installation of a remote access system.
By the way, this year the new UDM could be seen at the stand of the St. Petersburg Tractor Plant, which participated in the bauma CTT RUSSIA exhibition.

Characteristics
In essence, the Kirovets K 708 is a modular tractor that can serve as a base for creating other units of construction equipment. The structural weight of the machine is 12 tons, which is not bad for a low-power tractor. The tractor is produced on an articulated base, which provides excellent maneuverability and maneuverability. Interestingly, the width of the model does not exceed 2.5 meters, which ensures the possibility of movement on public highways.

The maximum transport speed is 50 km/h, which also looks very attractive. Among the common features, we can highlight a comfortable all-metal cabin with panoramic glazing, proper arrangement of the main components and elements (open access), operating temperature range from -40 to +40 degrees. The last nuance guarantees the correct operation of the equipment in all regions of the country.
Initially, it was stated that “Kiryusha” would be created only from domestic parts, however, the designers allow deviations from this rule in relation to the transmission and power plant. In particular, the tractor can be equipped with two types of diesel engines:

The power of the units will vary between 180-280 hp. With. The basic package will necessarily include the PZD-30 cold start system. If we talk about transmission, two options are also allowed here:
Automatic transmission ZF 4WG190 with 4/3 gears. A torque converter is installed here, ensuring smooth switching between modes without interrupting the power flow.
Mechanical transmission with hydrostatic control. The number of gears is 4/4, and switching also occurs without interruption in the power flow.
The fuel tank holds 320 liters, taking into account economical fuel consumption even at peak loads, this ensures long battery life.
Operator's cabin: work in comfort

The basic configuration of the K-708UDM requires an air conditioner in the cabin. There is also a display for indicating operating and emergency parameters and a joystick for controlling the boom and bucket. In addition, for the convenience of the operator, a sprung seat with a 2-point seat belt and adjustments allowing you to customize the workplace was installed in a two-seat cabin with tinted windows. There is also an instrument panel with control of the loader systems in automatic mode.
Soundproofing in the cab with built-in ROPS/FOPS system dampens all uncomfortable sounds, while improved visibility and adjustable rearview mirrors allow the operator to stay focused on work. The machine is equipped with a rotary post system, which allows you to switch from operating a loading bucket to operating a blade in a few seconds.

The Universal Road Machine (UDM) is a unique combination of the functions of a front loader and a wheeled bulldozer. Developed by order of the Ministry of Defense in the early 1990s, it does not lose its relevance today.

The Kirovets K-708UDM universal road machine is equipped with a gearbox developed by engineers of Petersburg Tractor Plant JSC. This is a hydromechanical, semi-automatic transmission with a torque converter and a switchable differential. The transmission has two operating modes (transport and work) and 4/4 gears (forward/reverse) with electro-pneumatic switching. The specific fuel consumption of the new model K-708UDM is 220 g/kW*h (162 g/hp*h).
The drive axles of the front loader with bulldozer equipment K-708UDM are sub-engine and cargo axles with differentials and planetary final drives.
Possibilities
The main advantage of Kiryusha is its versatility. The modular tractor can operate in the following configuration: - Truck tractor, with a load capacity of 12 tons. - Semi-trailer, with a load capacity of 20 tons. — Kung, with a lifting capacity of 8 tons. - Tank truck. - Crane arm. — Excavator. — Snowblower. - Drilling equipment. — Cable layer. — Leveling bucket. — Welding unit for 4 stations. - Support carrier.
Given this functionality, the Kirovets K 708 can replace an entire fleet of vehicles, being an excellent alternative to Western vehicles of 3-4 traction class.

As mentioned above, the new product of the St. Petersburg Tractor Plant can be used in a wide variety of industries with varying work intensity. This can be achieved, among other things, by a large selection of replacement work equipment.
Thus, the Kirovets K-708UDM can be equipped with two types of grippers (for pipes and logs), rock buckets, a snow blade, pallet forks, as well as a dynamic weighing system. To make it more convenient to work with replaceable equipment, hydraulic and mechanical quick couplers are provided.
A little history
A prototype of the tractor was demonstrated to the general public at the Moscow Agrosalon in October 2016. A distinctive feature of the K-708 is the use of components that are produced by Russian enterprises. The prerequisites for the creation of the tractor were the “Import Substitution” program, introduced by the country’s government in 2015. The tractor should be an excellent replacement for Western models of equipment and products of the Kharkov Tractor Plant. 50 million rubles were allocated for development, and we can say with confidence that the funds were not wasted.
Immediately after the exhibition, “Kiryusha” went to field tests, which took place in the Leningrad region. In general, the testing was successful, although there were some technical hiccups. After testing, the designers began work on several prototypes, and announced that the vehicle would go into mass production in 2022. The technical characteristics of the K 708 are not disclosed for obvious reasons, however, some information has already been leaked to the network, and we will be happy to share this information with you.

Like most road, construction and special machines of the St. Petersburg Tractor Plant, KIROVETS K-708PK7 can be made in both arctic and tropical versions.
