All the best that a motorized chainsaw can possess can be summed up in one single word – “Oregon”, which will not let you miss when choosing equipment not just for your home or garden, but for your soul.
The first production tests by this American tool-making concern were carried out back in 1947, which was facilitated by numerous searches for how to relieve hands, increase the work pace and, in the end, gain time, quality and money. But it all started not just with the design of the saw, but with its most important component - the saw chain, which became the calling card of the manufacturer all over the world.
Even many of our domestic manufacturers prefer saw chains from America to their domestic counterparts. After all, they know for sure that they cannot ruin the reputation of any manufacturer.

Economic expediency
At a price of less than ten thousand rubles, the CS1500 saw has practically no competitors. Even if you don't take PowerSharp technology into account. See for yourself, in the catalog of the DNS store up to 10,000 rubles, I found only three models with identical engine power, and only one of them with a 45 cm long bar. The good news is that the manufacturer did not inflate the price of the saw due to the self-sharpening function, and it costs at the level of competitors with similar characteristics.
Sometimes a manufacturer makes a big profit from consumables, and not from the device itself, as, for example, printer manufacturers. Let's look at the operating costs in our case. The price of the kit for the CS1500 saw (stone with chain) is about 1,500 rubles. It is enough for an average of 10-15 sharpenings. At first glance it is indeed relatively expensive. A regular chain costs about 500 rubles, and a set for sharpening it with a guide and template costs 720 rubles. If you give the chain to a specialist for sharpening, it will cost 100-120 rubles, a chain and ten sharpenings will cost the same 1,500 rubles. The first option seems to be cheaper, but your work and its complexity are not taken into account. Not every amateur can sharpen a chain correctly on their own; in doing so, you can completely ruin it. When I learned to sharpen chains for the Ural chainsaw, I suffered a lot until the saw, after my sharpening, began to make even cuts.
As you can see, consumables in the form of a set of chain and stone are similar to the cost of a traditional chain and the cost of sharpening it.

Garden Home line
In 1999, when Patriot chainsaws appeared on the Russian market, they were sold under the Garden Home brand, because... the manufacturer could not be under its own brand. The Garden Home company became a kind of guide for Patriot to the Russian market. In 2013, the Patriot company was able to sell tools under its own brand, after which the phrase Garden Home completely disappeared from the name of chainsaws.
We often receive questions from our visitors asking us to explain how the Garden Home series chainsaws differ from the Patriot series. The answer is nothing! This is all done for marketing and legal reasons.

The Oregon chainsaw is equipped with a powerful proprietary engine, the working cylinder volume of which is 40.1 cm 3 . The impressive reserve of torque of this model allows you to briefly increase engine speed without the risk of overheating or jamming.
Why use genuine Husqvarna chains?
Husqvarna has been committed to the high quality of all its products since its founding. I must admit, I have achieved success in this. Therefore, this brand deservedly enjoys respect in Russia, where there is a lot of forest, long winters and a lot of work for chainsaws.
There are several reasons why it is better to use only high-quality original chains for Husqvarna chainsaws. A poor quality one will negate all the benefits of a good chainsaw. The quality level must match that of the chainsaw.
It must be remembered that ultimately it is the chain that cuts the wood. Its quality depends on:
- cutting speed, amount of time and effort spent on work, labor productivity;
- fuel consumption;
- load on all chainsaw components, their service life.
That is, the user pays good money for a Husqvarna chainsaw not so that with a bad chain it will work like a cheap and low-quality chainsaw.
Good chains from other manufacturers may fit all sizes of Husqvarna chainsaws, but not perfectly. Only the chainsaw manufacturer can take into account all the nuances. Namely:
- properties of the alloys from which the chain and drive sprocket are made, their interaction with each other;
- maximum accuracy in adjusting the dimensions of the chain pitch and sprocket teeth;
- the specifics of each model in terms of traction and speed.
Even a micron mismatch between the pitch of a non-original chain and sprocket can accelerate their wear, increase operating noise and impair traction.
Saw Oregon CS250-E6 – model parameters
The garden tool in this universal configuration is designed to perform simple household tasks. The model is equipped with a long-lasting 2.4 Ah battery. This allows you to use the saw away from electrical power sources.
The saw is equipped with a powerful, efficient electric motor located in the transverse direction. This factory layout improves the balance of the tool and makes it easy to use in tight spaces.
The engine is powered by a B400E battery. This lithium-ion battery is protected against moisture, dust and surges. Thanks to this, the saw can be successfully used in bad weather conditions without the risk of a short circuit.
In good condition, the battery produces a voltage of 36 V. This is enough to operate garden tools under variable and constantly high loads. The time required to fully charge the battery is 2 hours. To monitor the charge, the battery is equipped with a special indicator.
The Oregon chain saw is equipped with a proprietary saw set. It includes a durable forged chain that rotates at a speed of 12 m/s. This allows the garden tool to be used for cross-cutting hardwood while maintaining a clean, straight cut line.
Oregon saw parameters:
- bar length/chain pitch – 35 cm/3/8″;
- oil tank – 170 ml;
- sound load – 90 dB;
- weight including saw set – 5.68 kg.
The design of this model includes a keyless chain tensioning system. For this purpose, a separate screw is located on the side of the tool.
Reviews and prices
In online stores, the CS 1500 model is offered for purchase at a price of 8,490 rubles, more powerful models are available at a price of 24,815 rubles.
Garik, 33 years old, Samara: “I earn extra money by cutting firewood and dumping dead wood in nearby villages. I consider Oregon chains to be the most reliable; they are easy to sharpen even mechanically. Vibration is low, pleasant to work with. In order not to depend on price fluctuations, I bought a whole bay. Satisfied".
Sergey Nikolaevich, 54 years old, Tyumen: “The saw has never failed. Branded product. Even after manual sharpening and use on other machines, the chain does not lose its factory characteristics.”
Daria Aleksandrovna, 41 years old, Kaluga: “There is no need for additional chain tension. The saw is doing great. We sharpen it no more than once a week. Works great on all types of wood.”
Oregon Double Guard 91 bus – headset features
Among the advantages of this branded tire are wear resistance and durability. At the same time, it is quite light, which allows it to be installed on small hobby chainsaws.
When developing this tire, Oregon uses innovative PowerSharp technology, the essence of which is the improved output of the connection of sharpening mechanisms. This increases headset cycle times and makes it easier to service yourself.
What sets this Oregon brand model apart from most other tires is the Lubri-Dam system, which increases lubrication efficiency with minimal oil consumption. This improves the tire's resistance to increased loads and reduces its heating during operation at high speeds.

What kind of company
By 1951, the company entered the world market and began selling patents. Since 1955, the Swedish Husqvarna began using Oregon chains for its chainsaws. Gradually the whole world switched to using new type chains. In Russia, they appeared only after 1991 and were called in everyday life - “hooked”.
At first, Oregon specialized exclusively in the production and improvement of the design of saw chains. Then she began producing her own chainsaws under this brand.
In 2004, the main part of the company became part of the global concern Blount Incorporation. Today, the specialized company Oregon Cutting Systems, part of the Blount Incorporation concern, specifically produces and improves saw chains.
Selecting a chain based on cutting depth
Headsets with the same pitch and thickness of links can cut wood at different speeds. The reason for this is the different profile heights, which determines how deep the cut is in 1 pass. And when choosing it, you again need to take into account the technical characteristics of your saw, as well as the specifics of the upcoming work.
All general-purpose saw chains are divided into 2 groups:
- low profile, in which the cutting edge extends 0.025 inches above the stop;
- high profile with 0.03 inch height difference.
The higher the profile height, the more actively the teeth bite into the wood - accordingly, labor productivity increases. However, if you need to make cuts to a certain depth and get the most even cut possible, then it will be inconvenient for you to work with a high-profile chain.
At the same time, pro-class models are not always equipped with high-profile chains. The fact is that, while providing maximum productivity, such equipment simultaneously creates noticeable vibration, which does not allow long and continuous work. As a result, this significantly cancels out the productivity gain due to the larger protrusion of the cutting edge.
To solve this problem, manufacturers combine different pitch and height values:
- if the step is large, then the profile should be low;
- if the chain has a small pitch, then the profile height can be increased.
As a result, it is possible to almost completely get rid of the negative effects of vibration, beating, etc., and sawing becomes less aggressive and quite productive.
In general, when choosing a profile height, you need to focus, first of all, on the working conditions and characteristics of the wood - its viscosity, hardness, humidity level, etc.
Determining the thickness of the chain
The thickness of the chain depends on the bar used. There are several standard sizes - 1.1 mm, 1.3 mm, 1.5 mm, 1.6 mm. And for example, a chain with a thickness of 1.3 mm will not fit on a bar with a groove of 1.1 mm and vice versa.
The easiest way to measure the thickness is with a caliper, although knowing the standard sizes, the thickness can also be determined with a ruler.
In our photo the chain thickness is 1.3 mm. As a result, the characteristics of this circuit will be as follows:
- Step – 3\8
- Length – 50 links
- Thickness 1.3 mm
You tell them to the seller and there will definitely be no mistakes with the selection. If the calculations seem complicated to you, then remove the chain and take it with you to the store and they will select a new chain for you according to the sample.
Not everyone knows how to measure a chainsaw bar. Chainsaw chains are available in limitless combinations of sizes, types and features. This is due to the fact that chainsaws themselves vary in size and use.
When it's time to replace the chain, it's especially important to have all the correct information about the chainsaw and its chain size. Only then will you be able to make the replacement correctly
Finding the right chain for your chainsaw is a little more difficult than finding other power tool accessories due to the unique way the chainsaw bar is measured. The information below explains how chainsaw chains are measured, the differences between these measurements, and how to quickly find the measurement numbers needed to order the correct chain.
The chainsaw chain length is compared to the saw bar measurement. Some manufacturers sell replacement chains based on the measured bar only
It is important to know that there are no universal circuits. A chainsaw with a long bar will require a correspondingly longer chain.
However, an accurate means of determining chain length involves several measurement options that ultimately affect how well the chain fits your chainsaw.
First of all, it is worth considering the question of how to measure the length of a chainsaw bar?
Things you'll need: Tape measure. A chain that does not fit properly on a chainsaw is dangerous. Therefore, if you are not sure about the choice, ask a professional to help determine the length of the bar and select the right chain. Consult your chainsaw's manual to ensure you are purchasing the correct type of chain.
Before operating a chainsaw or any power tool, read all safety warnings in the manufacturer's manual. Before replacing the chain on your chainsaw, disconnect the spark plug or battery to ensure that the saw will not start accidentally.
Below are steps you can also take before you start searching for the right chainstay.
- Find out the chain pitch measurement by looking it up on the tool, in the owner's manual, or by dividing the distance between 3 links by 2 (it is recommended that this be done by a professional).
- Obtain a chain measurement either by locating it on the tool, in the owner's manual, or by measuring the thickness of the chain's drive links. All measurements must be accurate.
- Count the number of individual drive links in the chain. With no exceptions. Now the good news is, the rest is easy to do. If you have these three digits, a suitable replacement chain will only take a few minutes. All you have to do is enter the correct measurements and number of links into a simple formula or online measurement calculator and it will automatically determine the tire length.
All unique tire measurement systems require a little knowledge of terminology and other technical things. If you are looking to buy a new chain for your chainsaw, this guide will help you in the best possible way. With the information provided in the article, it will be easier to narrow down the choice to the chain that is needed in a particular case.
Use the method that seems most convenient to you. The bus measurement is different from the actual chain length
Measuring the bar is important when you are replacing a chainring or purchasing a chain for a future replacement. It is important for every chainsaw owner to know how to measure a chainsaw bar
The bar measurement expresses the length of the chainsaw guide bar, not the entire length of the bar, which is actually slightly longer. If you want to know the true length of a tire, you will need not only a tape measure, but also the effective measuring methods presented above.
To select a chainsaw bar, you need to know the tail type, bar length, groove width and nose sprocket pitch.
