Turn relay Kraz 260

KrAZ-260, KrAZ-260V, KrAZ-260G.
Fuses To protect electrical wiring, assemblies and electrical equipment from excessively high currents, in the event of a short circuit in the circuit, a central unit, two PR-112 fuse blocks (10 fuse links in each block) and two push-button (bimetallic) PR- fuses are used. 2B, serving to protect the starter relay and preheater. The central fuse block (with two fuse links of 60 A each) is installed on the front panel of the cab under the hood. One fuse link is included in the circuit from the battery to the ammeter, and the other serves to protect additional electrical equipment installed by the customer. If the fuse blows, it is necessary to eliminate the cause of the short circuit and then replace the calibrated copper wire with a diameter of 0.5-0.6 mm. The PR-112 block has nine inserts of 8 A and one insert of 16 A. The bracket with fuse blocks is installed in the glove box on the instrument panel. The designation of symbols for connected consumers on the fuse block plate is given in Fig. 71.

In addition, there are two fuses PR-118 3 A to protect the electric speedometer and PR-119B 10 A to protect the turn relay, which are installed under the instrument panel on the relay bracket.

If the circuit opens with a bimetallic fuse, you must first eliminate the fault and then turn on the fuse by briefly pressing the button until a click appears. Do not press the bimetallic fuse button if the circuit is faulty.

KrAZ-260 fuses

To protect electrical wiring, assemblies and electrical equipment from excessively high currents, in the event of a short circuit in the circuit, two PR-P2 fuse blocks are used (10 fuse links in each block) and two PR-2B push-button (bimetallic) fuses, which serve for protection starter and starting heater relay. The PR-112 block has nine 8 A inserts and one 16 A insert. The bracket with fuse blocks is installed in the cabin on the instrument panel in the glove box. The designation of symbols for connected consumers on the fuse block plate is given in Fig. 125. In addition, there are two fuses PR-118 at 3A to protect the electric speedometer and PR-P9B at 10 A to protect the turn relay, which are installed on the relay bracket to the right of the radio.

If fuses burn out, replace them only with similar ones. If the fuse fails again, first repair the problem and then install a new fuse.

When eliminating a short circuit in the circuit, use a test lamp to check the presence of voltage at the fuse contacts. If the short circuit in the circuit is eliminated, the control lamp lights up.

Note. It is not allowed to install a fuse with a wire wound around it in the circuit.

If the bimetallic fuse opens the circuit, first eliminate the fault, and then turn on the fuse by briefly pressing the button until a click appears.

It is not allowed to press the fuse button if the electrical circuit it protects is faulty.

Device and technical characteristics

The machine is built on a frame chassis, providing high rigidity and strength. The chassis design uses multi-leaf springs, and the rear bogie is mounted on a balance beam. The tractor, created on the basis of a truck, is distinguished by shortened side members; other components remain unchanged.

The YaMZ-238L diesel engine with improved performance characteristics is used as a power plant. The use of a diesel engine with a turbocharger made it possible to reduce fuel consumption, which is 38.5 liters per 100 km (at a speed of 60 km/h).

The truck is equipped with a synchronized 8-speed gearbox and a 2-speed transfer gearbox. The transfer case includes a center differential with manual locking control. The lever is located in the driver's cabin and is located next to the rest of the transmission controls.

The truck's electrical equipment is designed for 24V voltage. Military versions were equipped with additional connection points for special equipment. The negative pole of the electrical circuit is connected to the body parts and components of the car. To protect circuits from short circuits, fuses are installed under the hood and in the cab.

To install various equipment, the KrAZ-260G was produced, which featured a chassis with a wheelbase extended to 5000 mm. The vehicles were supplied to civilian and military customers. The design uses original frame spars and additional cross members.

Dump truck

The dump truck is designed to transport bulk cargo weighing up to 12,000 kg. The platform is made of steel sheets connected by welding; the design does not provide for a tailgate. There are structural reinforcement ribs on the outer surface. There are cars equipped with a platform heated by exhaust gases. The body has a small-sized protective canopy that protects the cabin from damage.

The transfer case is equipped with a power take-off gearbox designed to drive a gear pump. Tipping of the body is carried out by 1 or 2 hydraulic cylinders and a lever system. The maximum platform elevation angle reaches 60°.

Military

Army vehicles are equipped with an on-board platform, inside of which there are folding benches for transporting personnel. Various special equipment built on a truck chassis was also supplied to the troops.

A type of military equipment is the KrAZ-260V truck tractor, which is designed to work as part of a road train that includes a MAZ-938 semi-trailer.

The vehicle can tow a trawl, fuel tanks and other equipment.

A modification E260E was created for an army customer, equipped with a 2-shaft gas turbine. Due to the large length of the power unit, the size of the car's hood has increased. The tests carried out did not satisfy the military, and the project did not receive further development.

The vehicle's electrical system is single-wire; the negative pole of current sources and consumers is connected to ground. The negative pole of the batteries is connected to ground through a switch, so all electrical consumers operate only when the batteries are connected to the vehicle ground. KrAZ-260 “V” truck tractor In the plant’s product line, the KrAZ-260 “V” truck tractor occupied a special place, being in demand among customers. The car with a shortened frame was equipped with a fifth-wheel coupling device. It could easily tow semi-trailers with a total weight of up to 27.5 tons when traveling on paved roads. On dirt roads, it was possible to tow a semi-trailer weighing up to 2300 kg.

This tractor was actively used in many sectors of the economy, used in the construction industry and agriculture. But the biggest customer was, of course, the military industry. Anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations were installed on tractors.

KrAZ-260 “G” with an extended chassis. Pontoon cars were produced based on this model. The extended chassis was perfect for installing desalination stations and drilling rigs on the vehicle. The car was used as a fuel tanker. This is an incomplete list of the uses of the KrAZ-260 “G”.

And further. The plant also produced a prototype of the KrAZ-260 “L” timber truck, which was not put into mass production. It was replaced by the KrAZ-6437.

User manual

The manual supplied with the vehicle contains the following recommendations:

Starting the engine is only permitted with the gearbox lever in neutral.
Use diesel fuel or T1 aviation kerosene for the preheater.
When operating the winch, follow safety regulations.
It is forbidden to start driving a car with a faulty brake system.
It is not recommended to reduce tire pressure that has increased due to heating of the components while driving.
It is prohibited to engage differential locks on paved roads.
Switch speeds in the transfer gearbox and engage the locks only when the vehicle is stationary.
When parked for a long time, disconnect the batteries from the on-board network.

The drivers of this truck had mixed opinions. But it must be remembered that this heavyweight was popular in the post-Soviet space and abroad.
