Its weight is designed for optimal penetration into the ground, including due to gravity, and is also not excessive for relatively easy forward movement when using tractor traction (it must be taken into account that the vertical movement of the cutting chain in the ground is “superimposed” on the horizontal). The weight of the “saw” of the trench unit can be compared with the weight of a small production machine: if the bar cuts trenches 140 mm wide, the mass of the unit will be about 700-800 kg. If the trench width is already 280 mm, then the mass of the bar will be 2 times greater, about 1.5 tons.
