To work in this profession, if the crane on which the work is being carried out is powered by electricity, then the operators of cranes with electric drive are assigned a qualification group for electrical safety of no lower than II, and those allowed to inspect and adjust electrical equipment no lower than III, in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Labor of Russia dated December 15, 2020 N 903n “On approval of the Rules for labor protection during the operation of electrical installations” (Registered with the Ministry of Justice of Russia on December 30, 2020 N 61957).

What does the theoretical part of training consist of?

How long will it take to complete the training course?
On average, such a program takes at least 100 hours (we are talking about a simplified version - accelerated learning). But, as a rule, this process takes several months. And in this case, it’s better not to really rush. This is the only way you will receive all the basic required knowledge, as well as experience, without which you cannot become a highly qualified specialist. During the first 30 days you will study theory, the next 60 - practice.
Training to become a crane operator ends with passing a qualification exam. If it passes without problems, the student receives a driver’s license. This certificate must contain the following note: what type of crane is approved for and what lifting capacity.
As a rule, after completing such training, the student is assigned the appropriate rank of truck crane operator.

Part 1 of Article 9.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation provides for the imposition of a fine for violation of industrial safety requirements or the conditions of licenses for carrying out activities in the field of industrial safety of hazardous production facilities, which fully applies to the operation of cranes, crane beams and other lifting mechanisms, in the amount of:

Basic knowledge and skills
To operate a truck crane, ranks are assigned from 4 to 8. Accordingly, immediately after initial training, the truck crane operator receives the fourth rank. Such a specialist must know the structure of mechanisms and booms, be able to move the crane to the transport and working position, and also perform a variety of loading and unloading operations.
The list of necessary knowledge also includes how to store a cable, as well as requirements for pulleys, ropes and mechanisms for holding and capturing loads.
Of course, a basic 4th category truck crane operator must be a good driver and know the rules of the road, as well as be able to drive an appropriately sized vehicle chassis. In addition, basic knowledge includes identifying malfunctions in the operation of machine devices and methods for eliminating them (not requiring the involvement of qualified specialists).
A 4th grade truck crane operator can work with machines with a lifting capacity of up to 6.3 tons.
To move to the next level, the operator must work in the current category for at least two years and undergo appropriate retraining.
