Over more than 40 years of operation, the MTZ 82(80) tractor has proven its ability to be used in a wide range of jobs. The layout of the transmission and hydraulic attachment system makes it possible to combine the tractor with various special mounted machines, which has become proof of the versatility of application in various sectors of economic activity. The presence of an arsenal of mounted machines allows you to quickly re-equip a tractor to perform one or another technological operation, which has a positive effect on the level of machine loading and optimization of production costs. This article describes the classification and types of attachments for the Belarus tractor, and also contains a short list of the main models of devices used.
MTZ 82
Classification of mounted machines
By mounted we mean equipment installed on the tractor chassis by connecting it to its rear or front hydraulic linkage, as well as using additional brackets in the structure installed on the MTZ frame.
Based on their purpose, mounted machines are divided into groups:
- agricultural
- construction and utilities
- forest
- general purpose
Based on bringing the equipment into working condition, they are divided into non-drive ones and those requiring power take-off from the PTO or tractor hydraulic system to ensure operation of the active components of the mounted machine.
Tractor bucket design
The most common way to divide buckets for MTZ tractors is by working volume, but it is far from the only one. Tractor hitches can also differ in their design, which makes them more suitable for performing certain, highly specialized tasks.
The tractor bucket can be:
- Communal.
Such attachments usually have a working volume of up to 0.8 m3 and are designed to perform a wide range of municipal and agricultural tasks. They are used for collecting garbage and clearing sites, pouring grain, fertilizers, feed, building materials, removing manure, feeding livestock, etc.
Typically, the design of the utility bucket for the MTZ tractor is lightweight, because the hitch is operated in relatively favorable conditions. To increase productivity, such buckets are often equipped with stiffeners. To successfully grip sticky masses, forks or knives can be installed on the edge.
- Bulldozer.
The bulldozer bucket for the MTZ tractor has a small volume and a reinforced design, since it is intended for leveling work, clearing sites, and removing construction waste. It is possible to lift loads using a bulldozer bucket with a tractor, but this is not its main purpose - usually special equipment removes debris and moves bulk materials, moving the mass in front of it. That's why they are called bulldozers. To improve the quality of work, they are often equipped with knives along the edge of the bucket.
- Snow removal.
The bucket for the MTZ tractor for snow removal is a shovel. Actually, this is the popular name for snow removal tractor buckets. The design feature, as in the previous case, is a small bend and a structure reinforced with stiffening ribs. Like a bulldozer, the snow removal bucket on the MTZ tractor pushes the mass (not necessarily snow, it can be dirt, lumpy debris, tree branches and windbreaks) in front of itself, practically without lifting it. The main difference from bulldozer-type tractor attachments is that the edge of the shovel is equipped with a rubber band to prevent damage to the road surface.
Specialized buckets for MTZ tractors
Depending on the need to perform certain work, you can select the following tractor buckets and shovels:
- Loading.
By installing a loading bucket on a Belarus tractor, you can turn it into a front loader. Such canopies have a lightweight design. Their main purpose is to perform loading and unloading operations.
- Lattice.
A mesh or lattice bucket on a tractor allows you to simultaneously perform two operations: reloading bulk materials and sifting them. Similar structures are also used when digging up root crops, so that the crop can be immediately separated from the earth clods.
- Trench.
The trench bucket for the MTZ tractor has a reinforced design: it must have reinforced sidewalls and stiffeners. This attachment simultaneously cuts out a portion of the soil and lifts it. To facilitate work on heavy soils, the edge of the trench tractor knife is equipped with pointed teeth, which can be welded or removable.
- Grab.
The clamshell or jaw bucket for the MTZ tractor is a structure of two parts - jaws. Usually the lower jaw is fixed, and the upper jaw can rise and fall, “biting off” a portion of hay, compost, and bulk materials. Such attachments work well with viscous substrates that would stick to conventional equipment in a lump.
- Reinforced.
The reinforced bucket is installed on Belarusians of the middle and heavy classes. The attachments are designed for the development of hard, rocky, frozen soils. Usually these are not the most capacious tractor buckets, but they have a design that is maximally reinforced with stiffening ribs and may also have a serrated edge or removable knives.
- Silos.
Belarus tractors operating at agricultural enterprises are mounted with silage attachments. They are a classic lifting bucket, with forks lowered on top of it in the manner of a grab. This design of the hitch ensures reliable capture of hay, silage, compost, feed and other heterogeneous masses and prevents them from flying out while the tractor is moving.
- With side unloading.
This bucket for the MTZ tractor has a small bending radius and looks more like an elongated container, one of the sides of which does not have a wall. The possibility of side unloading is convenient if you need to quickly reload fine-grained bulk materials into containers or the body of a truck.
Agricultural mounted machines
The popular use of MTZ in the agricultural sector as part of mounted and trailed units is due to the classification of the tractor as a universal row-crop machine. A wide range of agricultural equipment mounted on the tractor allows the MTZ 80 to be actively used in technological processes of crop and livestock production.
According to their intended purpose, agricultural attachments are divided into the following subgroups:

- for sowing and planting crops,
- applying mineral fertilizers and treating crops with chemicals.

Devices for continuous and inter-row tillage
The traditional arable attachment for the Belarus tractor is the three-body ploughshare plow PLN 3-35. In parallel with the development of cultivation technologies and the improvement of plowing machines, innovative developments have appeared that, under certain conditions, make it possible to increase the speed and quality of plowing. The fundamental factor when choosing a cultivator is the design, shape and principle of operation of the working bodies in accordance with the characteristics of the physical composition of the cultivated soils and cultivation technology. In terms of the main working parts, cultivators can be equipped with pointed shares, spring chisel-shaped rippers, and flat-cutting shares. Row-crop cultivators for inter-row cultivation of KRN and USMK crops are equipped with a number of working parts. The nature of the equipment of the cultivator sections depends on the row spacing, the cultivated crop and its growing season, as well as on the weediness and physical condition of the soil. Additionally, in their design, cultivators can be equipped with fertilizer sowing devices for simultaneously fertilizing crops with mineral fertilizers. Seeding machines
The traditional trailed grain seeder for MTZ 80 is ZS-3.6. The mounted unit for sowing grain for the Belarus tractor uses modern vacuum seeders SPU-3(4). For sowing row crops, only mounted vacuum precision seeders SUPN and USMK, used in combination with inter-row cultivators, are used. Fertilizer and chemical treatment machines
All mounted installations for spreading mineral fertilizers have a cone-shaped hopper, a similar disk design of the active body, are driven by a rear power take-off shaft, and are connected to the tractor using the CA1 coupling device. Mounted sprayers for MTZ are characterized by a tank volume of 200 to 1000 liters and are used for treating small areas. Spraying for field crops is carried out by nozzles placed on folding booms. Spraying of garden plants is carried out using the fan principle. To perform large volumes of work, trailed sprayers with capacities from 1500 to 2500 liters are used.

Grass cutting devices
Mounted mowers differ in their design by the segment or disk principle of operation of the cutting element. The drive is carried out from the rear PTO of the tractor; the unit is transferred from the transport position to the working position by a hydraulic cylinder as part of the mounted machine. There are many modernized versions of these mowers on the market. Due to their high maneuverability, mounted mowing units are used in mowing fields, small irregularly shaped areas, gardens, as well as in public utilities when mowing roadsides, park areas and lawns.

Vegetable harvesting machines
In the arsenal of mounted vegetable harvesting machines for the Belarus tractor, there are several versions of potato diggers and digging devices for harvesting carrots, onions and garlic. The vegetable digger consists of a digging plowshare organ, adjustable in stroke depth, and two conveyors driven from the PTO. The cut soil along with the tubers enters the main conveyor, where the soil spills through the rods of the device. Then the tubers without soil are fed onto a cascade conveyor and thrown out over the treated area.

Active use of mounted machines with MTZ 80 is associated with work on small farms. For work in large enterprises, the arsenal of cx. Belarus tractor machines are complemented by a fleet of trailed equipment with higher productivity and power utilization.
In addition to the active use of tractors with trailed and semi-trailer special machines that have separate chassis, in the agricultural sector the power of MTZ is used to drive stationary devices. This group may include: portable conveyors, grain sorting stations, threshers and crushers, feed grinding plants.
What volume of bucket is needed for different types of work?
Figuring out what volume a bucket is needed for a MTZ tractor is not so easy. It is clear that the capacity and productivity of the hitch largely depends on its design (we will consider this parameter later) and the type of material with which you have to work.

But the main criterion when choosing a bucket is compliance with the Belarusian class. Large and reinforced attachments will not help in the work if they are installed on a low-power tractor.

Today on the market there is a lot of loading equipment for Belarus tractors from various manufacturers. This group includes models of front loaders with conventional and jaw buckets, grab loaders in combination with blades on the front or rear of the tractor. For road cleaning work in public utilities, there are many options for road brushes, mounted on the rear or front linkage, as well as on the side of the tractor. For front drive, the tractor must be re-equipped with an intermediate cardan drive from the rear PTO with the drive spline shaft exiting to the front linkage.

Tractor dumps are divided into equipment for soil leveling and for clearing snow from roads. In their design they differ in blades with a rigid frontal position and with the ability to change the angle of attack along the front of movement. The position can be changed using a sector mount or an additional hydraulic cylinder as part of the attachment.
Mounted snow blowers are driven by the tractor's PTO. They differ in their design by the type of active working parts and the functions of the snow pipeline, which determine the machine’s ability to work with high-density snow masses and the functional ability to change the direction of snow flow and the height of its unloading.

Tractor excavator equipment
The use of a tractor chassis to accommodate excavator equipment has been mastered by a number of machine-building manufacturers. According to the method of placement, devices are divided into two types:
- mechanisms placed directly on the frame of the tractor for constant use of the machine in earthmoving work
- excavator device attached to the rear linkage of a tractor for temporary use of the machine in earth-moving operations

The design of equipment from different manufacturers is similar and differs in the characteristics of the components included, the size of the bucket, the digging radius and the possibility of shifting the digging axis. Some excavator configurations provide for the installation of a hydraulic hammer on the boom instead of a bucket.
Drilling rigs
The list of special equipment also includes drilling rigs designed both for drilling wells and for drilling small cylindrical holes. In the construction industry, for installing poles or when planting gardens and parks, auger drills are used, mounted on the rear linkage of the tractor. By their design, hole drills differ in the diameter of the turns of the working auger and its length, which determines the diameter and maximum drilling depth.

Equipment for drilling holes more than 2 meters deep is installed on a tractor chassis and implies constant use of the tractor for this type of work. The installation is mounted on the frame of the tractor and includes: a platform with hydraulic supports; a boom with a drilling apparatus and a lift used for vertical lifting of the installed supports.
Installations for repairing roads and communications
Also on the list of specials. equipment for MTZ includes bar installations or chain trenchers-soil cutters used for digging trenches in soils of various categories when laying communications. The installations are characterized by the type of digging segments that determine the width of the trench and resistance to soil hardness. The drive is made from the rear PTO of the tractor, the digging depth is regulated by the position of the chain boom of the device.

Mounted cutters are used to repair paved roads and communications. The active part of the device is a multi-tooth carbide cutter, the rotation of which removes the top road layer.
Design characteristics of the MTZ 82 tractor
MTZ 82 (Belarus) is a multi-purpose all-wheel drive tractor produced by the Belarusian plant. It is designed according to the “4 by 4” scheme, the front wheels are smaller than the rear ones. Overall dimensions – height 2.8 m, width 1.97 m and length 3.93 m. Weight – 4000 kg. Speed – 35 km/h.
The basis of the machine is a semi-frame structure and the gearbox, clutch and rear axle located on it. The D-240 or D-240L engine is located in front of the cabin. After the engine come the power transmission units, which provide 18 forward gears and 4 reverse gears. The driving wheels are the rear ones, the guide wheels are the front ones.
Engine characteristics
The engine is an in-line four-cylinder diesel engine with direct fuel injection. Design power – 81 kW. Engine displacement is 4.75 liters, speed is 22000 rpm. Fuel tank capacity – 130 l. Fuel consumption depends on the technical condition of the engine, fuel equipment and the type of work performed.

Driver's workplace
The cabin is an all-metal structure with a rigid frame, mounted on rubber shock absorbers that reduce vibration and noise. To maintain the temperature regime, heating is used with heat from the cooling of the hydraulic system or ventilation (by opening a window or hatch in the ceiling).
A good view is provided from the torsion bar seat. The window is equipped with a sun visor. The rear view mirror and windshield wiper are located on the outside of the cab. The steering wheel can be adjusted in height and tilted when entering.
