Series of combine harvesters "Torum" - high-performance units from Rostselmash

Our main manufacturer of agricultural machines such as combines was the Rostselmash enterprise. Before the collapse of the Union, combines from this manufacturer were the most widespread. After the collapse of the agricultural market. cars were flooded with foreign combines, with which Rostselmash’s products could not compete. But over time, this production was able to establish the production of new generation combines, which can already compete with foreign analogues.

The products of TPK Rostselmash are in demand because they leave no doubt about their quality and are considered competitive in the global market for specialized agricultural equipment. Not so long ago, Rostovites were able to surprise not only Russian farmers, but also global manufacturers of agricultural equipment, releasing the Torum combine harvester in 2009.

The first batch of Torum-740 combines off the assembly line, on the initiative of the Ministry of Industry of the Russian Federation, was tested in 2011, in which combine harvesters from foreign competitors took part: the American John Deere STS-9670, the Belgian New Holland CSX-7080, and the German Deutz Fahr. In the same competitive conditions, based on the results of its work, the Russian combine was recognized as the undisputed leader.

In the allotted hour, the following results were recorded:

General information

During the Soviet Union, Rostselmash products were used in almost all fields of the country. The efficiency and productivity of combine harvesters was confirmed by representatives of Western companies who admired the power of Soviet grain harvesting equipment. The collapse of the USSR significantly reduced the competitiveness of domestically produced combine harvesters. The cars were inferior to their Western counterparts in terms of build quality and equipment performance.

Over time, the designers of the Rostselmash enterprise were able to turn the situation around for the better. Using their own innovative developments, they released a line of VECTOR and ACROS combine harvesters, which constituted serious competition in the market. In 2009, the company begins mass production of class 7 machines TORUM. Currently, the series is represented on the market by four models: 740/750/760/780. Please note that according to experts, the TORUM 780 was recognized as the most functional rotary harvester in its category.

With average operating rates, the TORUM 780 is capable of harvesting about 2,000 hectares of agricultural crops per harvest. During an eight-hour work shift, the equipment threshes over 300 tons of grain without losing the quality of the threshing. Note that the combine is ideal for working in areas with difficult terrain and mowing plant mass with high humidity. To understand what such indicators are based on, it makes sense to consider the technical parameters of the machine.

Device

The new Russian Torum combine harvester is a class 7 rotary grain harvester. The designers claim that the productivity is about 40 t/h; and depending on the landscape and type of crop, the machine can process over 2 thousand hectares per season. The versatility lies in the fact that the equipment copes with harvesting various grains and agricultural crops (wheat, rye, oilseeds, soybeans, rice, etc.) without losses or downtime.

Advantages and disadvantages

Since the start of production, the manufacturer has expanded the model line of Torum grain harvesting equipment. Over the same few years, the advantages and disadvantages of technology have become clear.

The defining advantage of the machine is its high productivity. In addition to the grain harvesting speed stated by the manufacturer (40 t/h), the bunker unloading rate is important: Torum spends 2 minutes unloading a filled bunker (more than 10,000 l).

The large volume of the bunker allows you to work without frequent stops in the field for unloading; The combine is equipped with an extended unloading auger.

Among the advantages that are characteristic of all models and allow them to compete in the global market are:

  • the ability to equip with a half-track undercarriage for working in problem and congested areas;
  • the use of power plants with different power ratings;
  • availability of a 2-seat luxury cabin;
  • the use of different types of headers (according to the type of crop), changing them is simple;
  • innovative threshing system Advanced System Rotor (the rotor deck rotates, energy consumption is reduced by 10%).

Combine harvesters Torum

Now Rostselmash produces several series of combines, including the Torum series. This series includes 4 models with the designations 740, 750, 760 and 780. Interestingly, this series initially consisted of two models - 740 and 760 - these were the first combines in the series. Now they have been replaced by two other models - 750 and 780, but all of them are designated the Torum series.

Combine harvesters of the Torum series are high-performance units for harvesting grain and other crops. The Torum 780 model is one of the most productive in the world.

As for the advantages of Torum series combines, they are enough to compete with foreign manufacturers:

  • Depending on the model, combines are equipped with power units with different power ratings, which makes it possible to select a combine according to your needs;
  • In addition to the conventional undercarriage, these combines can also be equipped with all-wheel drive or half-track undercarriage;
  • Double cabin equipped with comfort systems;
  • Equipping combines with a single hydraulic connector, which can significantly reduce the time for changing headers;
  • The use of several types of headers allows harvesting grains, oilseeds, corn, rapeseed, soybeans, and rice;
  • Control of the movement of the combine, as well as the work process, will be performed by only one manipulator;
  • As for the shortcomings, the Torum series combines were released quite recently, and as such, no negative qualities have yet been noted.

Structurally, all Torum models are the same. A header with a hydraulic reel drive is installed on them in front with a system for copying the field topography with the header. The scythe is equipped with a Schumacher type drive. The cut crop is fed by the header auger into the beater chamber, the design of which provides high throughput. From this chamber the crop enters the rotary threshing drum.

The lineup

Torum-740

The model, which took part in competitions with “foreigners,” proved its high efficiency when harvesting corn and rice, which further convinced experts of its versatility.

Technical characteristics of special equipment are presented in the table.

Constructive improvement continued. Soon the RSM-181 Torum-750 combine came off the assembly line.

Torum-750

The Torum-750 grain harvester was equipped with a 6-cylinder Mercedes engine that meets the Stage IIIa environmental standard. The basic configuration of the model includes an air compressor, an electric drive for sieves, and a single hydraulic connector. The Comfort Cab II comes with panoramic glazing and enhanced sound, dust and vibration insulation.

The model leads in fields where rice is grown; To work in “wet” checks, half-tracks are installed instead of wheels. It is possible to install additional equipment for sunflower harvesting; headers for harvesting corn can be 8- or 12-row, which allows processing up to 6 hectares per hour.

Torum-760

All technical parameters are the same as the 740th model. The only difference is in the volume of the bunker: in this model it is used for 12,000 liters.

Torum-780

This model should be compared with the 750. The length of the unloading auger for the model is increased to 6.8 m, and the unloading height is increased to 5.4 m; The offset angle for both models is the same -105°. These parameters indicate that during work on the field it is possible to unload grain into any machines, even if the combine is equipped with an 11-meter header.

Torum-785

This model ranks among the world's most productive rotary combine harvesters. Allows you to harvest various crops over an area of over 2,000 hectares per season. The volume of wheat threshing per hour is more than 45 tons.

The combine can operate efficiently on a half-track, which makes it suitable for use in muddy soybean and rice fields.

The new Luxury Cab provides a comfortable working environment with less stress and fatigue. The threshing process and the operation of the combine mechanisms are continuously monitored by the Adviser III information and voice system. With its help, you can control how stable the technical process is, prevent and promptly repair unit breakdowns.

Analogs

It is difficult to determine which of the new combines can be considered an analogue of the Torum, because each has its own purpose, which determines the demand. Among the most popular among farmers, combine harvesters of new models are most often mentioned:

  1. VECTOR 450 Track - with a crawler chassis for a larger support area. This option is designed specifically for use in swampy places where rice grows and other difficult soil conditions.
  2. ACROS 595. Adapted to any operating conditions. Recognized as the best technology in its class.
  3. RSM 161 is a machine with a productivity of up to 40 t/h. Designed for harvesting cereals, legumes, oilseeds, cereals and row crops.

Reviews and prices

A year ago, combine harvesters of the 750 model could be purchased from official dealers of Rostselmash for RUB 14,103,600; at a discounted price established by a decree of the Russian Federation - for 11,988,056 rubles. Only large agricultural enterprises can afford to purchase new equipment. Average agricultural producers are unlikely to decide on such expenses, and the market for used Torum combines has not yet developed, as well as the rental price.

There are also not many reviews about the technology yet; you can only navigate the choice of models by advertising videos and test results, which the manufacturer periodically announces in electronic and print media.

Kislyuk A., machine operator of the Rossiya collective farm, Stavropol region: “I was among the few lucky enough to participate in the tests of Torum-780. I won’t compare it with the technology of previous times, it’s pointless. It’s comfortable at the helm of this car, and you want to work from dawn to dusk. And the result is impressive! I have never seen such clean work as after the Torum system for cleaning threshed grain, and this despite the fact that the process happens quickly. In 2 hours we managed to thresh 103 tons with a 12-row header. “Not a single failure occurred with either the threshing drum or other technical components.”

Luzhetsky V., Lipetsk region: “I saw a program on TV about the new equipment of Rostselmash, I couldn’t tear myself away. The new combines are impressive, but not every farm can afford such a purchase. In addition, the “line” has not yet been tested, there are no full-fledged opinions about it yet. There’s another hardship ahead, we need to keep track of information about the combines in use.”

TORUM 750/780

TORUM is a powerful rotary harvester, one of the most highly productive in the world. The range of crops harvested is wide – from wheat to rice. This combine is well suited for farms with large acreage and high yields: the more the machine is loaded, the more efficient its operation becomes. Thanks to the innovative ARS* threshing system, TORUM copes perfectly with grains that are difficult for conventional rotary combines.

* Advanced Rotor System – beater feeder, rotor with rotating deck, stepless rotor drive.

High-performance combine TORUM 780 and 750 with a rotary threshing system Advanced Rotor System Mercedes engine 506 hp. or 425 hp, 2-cascade cleaning 5.2 sq.m., capacious bunker 12000 or 10500 l/s with high-speed unloading 105 l/s, versatility and adaptability to complex agricultural conditions, production of 1500-2000 hectares per season.

New economical engines

Main nodes

Engine

Power point. The combine is equipped as standard with a MERCEDES OM 460 LA MTU diesel engine with a power of 506 hp. With. The unit is characterized by economical fuel consumption and complies with the international environmental safety standard Stage IIIA. The engine is equipped with sensors that monitor fuel consumption and an air compressor. The drive to the working parts goes through the power take-off shaft. The transmission is represented by a hydrostatic gearbox with the ability to adjust rotor rotation. This scheme allows you to continuously switch between operating modes, reducing the load on the main components.

Reapers

To work with adapters, the equipment is equipped with a single hydraulic connector, which can significantly reduce the time for replacing the header. TORUM 780 works with adapters for harvesting grain crops, corn, rapeseed, rice, sunflower. If necessary, the combine can be combined with a pick-up, which follows the topography of the field when moving in any direction.

Threshing system

Threshing device. The ARS (Advanced Rotor System) scheme is used here, which ensures high rotor efficiency when the combine operates in difficult conditions. Installing a rotating deck in a separating device solves two problems at once: it optimizes the operation of the thresher and makes it possible to use the equipment for harvesting clogged or wet agricultural crops. The deck consists of three threshing sections, which makes it possible to adjust the threshing gap, increasing the separation area.

Cleaning and separation system

Cleaning system. This element is presented in a two-stage design: an additional sieve forms a second blown cascade. This design made it possible to increase the area of the cleaning system to 5.2 m2. You can note the work of the combine with the non-grain part of the plant mass. Thanks to the installed chopper, the TORUM 780 finely chops and scatters the non-grain part across the width of the header. The straw is scattered along with the floor, excluding additional structural elements.

Note that the development was awarded at the Paris SIMA exhibition in 2005. This is not the only innovative solution that was used in the production of the combine.

Bunker

Bunker. The grain tank capacity of the TORUM 780 combine is 12,000 liters. Unloading is carried out at a speed of 105 l/s, completely emptying the hopper in approximately 2 minutes. The unloading auger is moved out at an angle of 105 degrees, ensuring loading of machines with any side height. The length of the auger is 6.8 meters, the guaranteed unloading height is 5.4 m.

Cabin

The operator's workplace is represented by a comfortable cabin with panoramic glazing. The cabin meets international standards, is equipped with a climate control system and has an increased level of sound insulation.
