KhTZ-16131 is a multi-purpose wheeled vehicle developed by engineers of the Kharkov Tractor Plant. The model is an integral arable-row-crop wheeled mechanism, which is usually attributed to the 160th series of tractors of the famous Kharkov enterprise. The machine is capable of performing the full range of work in agriculture, including hilling, cultivating, harrowing, plowing, sowing grain and vegetable crops, as well as loading, unloading and towing heavy trailers. The machine is designed for cultivating large field areas and harvesting row crops. The strongest aspects of this model include good driving performance, excellent traction characteristics, clear handling and good directional stability. This tractor can be mounted with various wide-cut implements, thereby increasing productivity. The HTZ-16131 model is involved in cargo transportation, road construction and installation work, as well as search and rescue operations, and is a worthy addition to the special equipment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Peculiarities

1. The HTZ-16131 tractor received an engine range of two power plants. Thus, the manufacturer offered a choice of a German engine from Deutz AG, as well as a domestic D-260 unit from the Minsk Motor Plant. Each engine had the same power at 180 horsepower. The German engine received the following characteristics: 4-stroke 6-cylinder layout with horizontal cylinders, 24 valves, liquid cooling, direct injection and turbocharging. This unit had a working volume of 7.1 liters, the cylinder diameter was 108 mm, and the piston stroke was 130 mm. The engine developed a torque of 854 N/m. The diesel engine received a turbocharged compressor with charge air cooling. Direct injection contributed to the uniform distribution of the combustible mixture throughout the combustion chamber, and due to this, the engine consumed less fuel and polluted the atmosphere less. It must be admitted that this engine was considered one of the best in the model range of the German brand Deutz AG. It has successfully proven itself not only in the HTZ-16131 tractor, but also in other special equipment - drilling rigs, combines, compressors, diesel generators, etc. As for the Minsk D-260 engine, it is certainly considered the most common - due to its lower cost and cheaper spare parts. And at the same time, the Minsk engine has similar power. The four-cylinder unit is also turbocharged, and the six-cylinder arrangement is vertical. With a working volume of 7.1 liters, the unit produces 662 N/m of torque. The D-260 engine made it possible to significantly reduce the cost of the HTZ-16131 tractor, without loss of value.
2. The HTZ-16131 tractor has relatively compact dimensions and a small wheelbase. Compactness has made it possible to increase ease of use, for example, in cramped and narrowly accessible conditions. At the same time, the wheelbase of 2860 mm made the tractor more maneuverable, taking into account the minimum turning radius.
3. To improve cross-country ability, the tractor received large off-road wheels measuring 16.9R38. As an alternative, paired (twin) tires with dimensions 9.5R42 were offered. Among other features of the chassis and body, we note high ground clearance of over 500 mm, high approach and departure angles, minimal body overhangs, as well as durable engine and anti-corrosion protection. Of course, these features have increased the capabilities of the HTZ-16131 on real off-road conditions - in conditions of muddy soil, deep ruts and holes, large stones, 30 percent inclines and other obstacles. At the same time, the main off-road components of the tractor are 4×4 all-wheel drive, as well as a cross-axle differential lock.
4. The machine is equipped with a 16-speed gearbox, which is characterized by smooth and silent operation. Thus, when switching to a lower or higher speed, there are no interruptions in the power flow, which makes it possible to eliminate power losses, and thereby fully reveal the potential of the power plant, namely its maximum power output and torque. In addition, optimally selected gear ratios are provided in the box specifically for this purpose. The gearbox design also includes a single-plate clutch. The chassis consists of shoe brakes with a pneumatic drive for each wheel. Steering is carried out by the front wheels, controlled by hydrostatic steering, which is actuated by a conventional steering wheel. The turning radius of the wheels is at least 7100 mm.
5. The front and rear mounted implements are responsible for the cargo capabilities of the HTZ-16131 tractor. Type of hitch – three-point. At the same time, the lifting capacity of the rear linkage is 4500 kg, and the front implement is capable of lifting up to 1500 kgf. Both guns operate using a hydraulic drive, which, like all other electrical equipment, is powered by two 6ST-190A batteries with a mains voltage of 12 Volts. The hydraulic drive malfunctions, and there is constant noise and vibration in the cabin. Under load, the engine overheats greatly, making noise and consuming a lot of fuel. Sitting is uncomfortable - after five hours of sitting, your back becomes stiff and hurts, because of this you have to get out of the car to work out your back a little.
