Updated front axle

In order to continue to ensure efficient operation in difficult operating conditions, the front axle has been modernized. To achieve this, the following changes were made to its design: • the size of the tilt rod was increased, which made it possible to triple its strength; • the permissible load on the tie rod ends has increased by 20%; • The tilt link mounting point is now cast, providing improved support for the steering system; • The orientation of the wheel angle sensor inside the housing has been changed to better protect the sensor and wiring.

Power point

The John Deere 872G is equipped with the factory PowerTech 6090H engine, which has previously been used in other similar models. The six-cylinder diesel engine fully meets all accepted environmental standards. The cylinder capacity is 9 liters, and thanks to the maximum speed of 2,100 revolutions, up to 193 kW of power is produced. While the motor grader is operating from 1st to 7th gear, the drive is evenly distributed to all wheels, and as soon as the switch to 8th gear occurs, the motor begins to work in enhanced mode.

The air cooling system has a built-in turbocharger, complemented by a flow-through cooling function.

New front fenders

The new improved wing design is the result of the implementation of further customer wishes. In applications requiring quick removal of the fenders, they are now easily removed by loosening two clamping screws. In addition, these wings are shifted forward along the circumference to more effectively protect against dirt during operation and minimize the risk of damage.

Transmission

After a brief overview of the power plant, we can move on to the transmission. In this case, a proprietary development is used, which is complemented by the PowerShift Plus function, which allows you to change speed without losing the rated power of the motor. There are 8 gears to move forward, and the same number to move the grader backwards. Movement can be carried out at speeds from 4 to 44.4 km/h.

The front axle of construction equipment is a welded structure that is designed to work with increased loads. The axles have differentials that can be locked manually or automatically. Thanks to this system, the grader moves very smoothly, which affects the ease of control.

Increased blade traction and maximum weight

The maximum weight of John Deere G Series motor graders has been increased to 24,948 kg. This will provide additional traction on the blade and additional opportunities to use attachments, such as snow removal.

It is now activated and deactivated by pressing the corresponding button on the SSM panel (as on 4WD front loaders and articulated dump trucks).
