The combines use a single-drum threshing apparatus with an eight-bar threshing drum with a diameter of 610 mm (weighing 300 kg for the 1450 CWS model and 340 kg for the 1550 CWS model) and an extended concave with a wrap angle of 112°. The design of the threshing apparatus ensures high-quality and soft threshing of crops, due to the large diameter and weight of the drum, as well as the elongated concave. This allows you to achieve good grain release when threshing clogged and wet bread.

The threshing drum speed is adjustable in the range of 150-420/400-1100 rpm. The grain and small heaps separated in the threshing apparatus fall onto the screen and then into the cleaning system.

The cleaning system consists of a high-performance bladed fan (speed control range 550-1250 rpm), dampers for air flow control and a two-stage sieve mill. The sieve mill includes adjustable louver sieves for coarse and fine cleaning. To separate coarse heaps, straw walkers are used in combines. Removable grids on the keys of the straw walker allow you to increase its throughput when harvesting hard-to-thresh and wet grains. To increase the intensity of grain separation from a coarse heap, a drum finger agitator can be additionally installed above the straw walker keys.

To chop the non-grain part leaving the straw walker, combines are equipped with a rotary chopper, on which two types of knives with a smooth blade and a serrated blade can be installed. Knives with a smooth blade are used for chopping low-yielding and dry crops, and knives with a serrated blade for high-yielding and clogged crops. The non-grain part of the crop, after grinding, is scattered across the field using a deflector. Depending on the working width of the header with which the combine is mounted, the spreading width of the crushed non-grain part is regulated by changing the position of the deflector guide vanes. Combines can be additionally equipped with two hydraulically driven centrifugal discs, designed to uniformly spread chaff after the cleaning system.

Straw can also be placed in a windrow without chopping, with its further selection and pressing using roll or bale balers. The collected compressed straw can later be used on pig or livestock farms as bedding or as dry fuel. The use of combine harvesters for corn harvesting requires the installation of additional equipment: a replaceable concave with large cells, a casing for the fan, a second apron for the straw walker, additional protection for the stone catcher, plates for closing the inter-beam space of the threshing drum, protection for the rear hood, a set of combs for the straw walker, replaceable coarse sieves cleaning with extension.

Combine harvesters can be equipped with a choice of open or closed hopper with a high-performance unloading device. The volumetric hydraulic drive of the front drive wheels is carried out through a mechanical three-speed gearbox. To operate in difficult conditions, combine harvesters can be additionally equipped with dual front wheels and a hydraulically driven rear axle.

The layout of the combine "cabin - bunker - engine" ensures isolation of the cabin from noise and vibration of the engine, easy control of the filling of the bunker and the quality of incoming grain from the workplace, as well as uniform distribution of weight along the axes of the combine, regardless of the degree of filling of the bunker, in contrast to the " cabin – engine – bunker”, used by other manufacturers.

Engine John Deere PowerTech 230 hp. at 2300 rpm is designed specifically for use in agriculture and provides high-performance harvesting.

The 620R header with a working width of 6.1 meters ensures a uniform supply of grain mass for subsequent high-quality threshing:

  1. segments of the knife apparatus are fastened with bolts, and not with rivets, as in other manufacturers, which makes them easy to replace in the field in case of breakdown;
  2. the feeding table is made of stainless steel, which ensures uniform feeding and long service life;
  3. the field relief copying system automatically maintains the specified cutting height and greatly facilitates control of the combine, which allows the combine operator to concentrate on monitoring operating parameters;

The 1.8 m long inclined chamber provides a good view of the header from the combine operator’s workplace and feeds the grain mass at a less acute angle, which, in turn, reduces the interruption of straw and the load on the cleaning system. The threshing drum with a diameter of 610 mm has 8 whips and ensures high-quality and gentle threshing.

A spacious cabin with air conditioning and a steering column, control panel and seat adjustable in several positions ensure comfortable and highly productive work for the combine operator throughout the entire shift.

Series

Each series has its own individual characteristics and is a logical continuation of older models, however, in comparison with previous ones, the company has changed the designation of the series. Since 2009, production of models under the designations W and T began, and more recently S has also appeared, which brought the most powerful cars.

It is worth noting that many older cars that were produced before 2009 still remain quite in demand. In terms of equipment and quality of work, they still perform on par with many new machines from other companies.

For example, the 1550 CSW model was equipped with a hydrostatic transmission, a powerful 225 horsepower engine, a spacious and comfortable cabin with excellent sound insulation, an automatic header control system and much more, which makes this combine one of the most popular in the secondary market.

W

Perhaps these are the most reliable and simple machines, since only time-tested elements are installed on them, which will show excellent efficiency and trouble-free operation, as well as simple maintenance and operation. For example, the engine is installed with one turbocharger, while with a double one on the T-series it is capable of delivering an order of magnitude more power, but the load on it is enormous. The only transmission available is a three-speed one with push-button control. Otherwise, the cockpit and computer systems are standard.

In the video, John Deere T, S, W series combines:

John Deere combine harvesters

The John Deere company was founded back in 1837, when founder John Deere in the United States in Illinois, in his forge, produced the first polished steel plow, which greatly helped the pioneers leave even furrows in the heavy prairie soil. Much has changed since then, but not the company's commitment to helping everyone involved in land work, be it a contractor, landowner, builder or farmer. The manufacturer cares about the quality of its products, reliability, and also that only advanced technologies are used.

One of the company's directions is the production of combine harvesters, which cut the stalks, and then clean the grain and send it to the bunker. You can find several series of machines on the market, among which everyone can choose the optimal equipment for their farm.

Peculiarities

John Deere produces some of the finest and most accurate combines in the world, using only the latest technology. There are two unique transmissions to choose from: the first is an automatic shift system that will provide smooth speed control even on hilly terrain; the second system is manual and has three speeds, which are switched by buttons on the dashboard, but for this you need to stop the car.

Many cars are also equipped with a premium cabin, which provides a huge panoramic glass, comfortable seating, air conditioning and heating, audio preparation, and convenient controls. And the multi-function display will show all the important information about the operation, and you can also enter AutoTrac mode through it. This is an automatic driving function that will track the position of the combine and independently maintain the trajectory with the accuracy specified by the driver. The ability to calibrate and monitor the system is also provided, and some models are equipped with telemetry, so you can monitor the operation of the combine remotely.

The new threshing system processes the crop more gently, which significantly affects the quality of grain and straw, thereby increasing the efficiency of the entire process. The attachment is also equipped with a hydraulic system that will compensate for any unevenness and allow you to work on terrain of any nature. This will also be facilitated by the HILLMASTER system, which on hilly terrain will not allow grain to accumulate in any one area, which will maintain efficiency and quality.

Advantages and disadvantages
