Review of the Favorit walk-behind tractor range. Instructions for first start-up and running-in

Residents not only in our country, but all over the world, prefer to have their own plot of land so that they can plant different plants. It can feed you in the winter, and also bring significant income from harvest sales. If you have a small area, then most likely you process it yourself by hand. If the field is up to one hectare in size, or even larger, it is extremely important for you to think about your health and look for special equipment for yourself.

Walk-behind tractors are universal agricultural machinery that performs any type of work thanks to special attachments. There are both foreign and domestic products on sale. Attachments

Motoblocks Favorit have gained great popularity due to the fact that they can perform a huge amount of work using attachments. With low power there is low fuel consumption, but the functionality is much greater than that of a mini tractor.

Milling cutters

The basic attachment for a walk-behind tractor is a milling cutter. It is often sold complete with the Favorit walk-behind tractor. The advantage of ZiD OJSC products is that their width can be adjusted using axle shafts and a set of additional spare parts.

When working near crops, there is a high probability of damaging them. In order to prevent this, protective discs are installed at the end of the cutters.

Milling cutters are installed instead of pneumatic wheels.

A simpler classic attachment for mixing topsoil is a plow. It was used by people of ancient times.

OJSC "ZiD" offers its classic plow. Its weight is 10 kg. It is designed for an average plowing speed of 2.5-3.5 km/h.

The warranty period is 5 years.

An improved model is the reversible plow. It has a special shape of a ploughshare, which, before throwing, first turns the earth over several times, and only then throws it to the side.

Plowing occurs as follows: the first rut is made, then one wheel is placed in it, and the plow is lowered into the ground. Thus, the second track buries the first. Thanks to the rotary handle, you can control the Favorit walk-behind tractor while moving from its side and not trample the trench.

Mowers

The lush growth of weeds causes a lot of trouble in cleaning them. Motoblocks Favorit together with a mower can help solve this problem.

ZiD offers the KR-3 rotary mower. It is designed for mowing ordinary grass and rough-stemmed plants in small areas, roadsides, etc. The mower allows you to protect the operator from flying grass and stones thanks to the high protective side.

The height of the grass being grabbed is 3 cm.

The rotor speed is 2570 rpm.

Mowers perform well when making hay for the winter, since all that remains is to collect the dried grass.

Potato digger and potato planter

Potatoes are a very common crop in our country. However, working with it involves a lot of physical labor. Favorit walk-behind tractors along with attachments can help with this.

The potato planter is designed for planting potatoes. The potato planter has the following device: in front there is a plow that breaks the rut, behind there is a tank with a conveyor belt for feeding potato tubers. Two hillers are buried behind the trench.

After the root crops ripen, they need to be collected.

To dig up potatoes, you can use an ordinary plow, but it has a drawback: it cuts a large number of tubers.

A vibrating potato digger is considered more professional. In front of it there is an active knife, which cuts the layer of earth and feeds it to the screen (steel rods), where the piles of earth are broken, and only fruits remain on the surface. Then the operator can only harvest the crop.

Snow blower and shovel

To clear snow in winter, you can use the Favorit walk-behind tractor together with the SM-2 snow blower from ZiD OJSC.

In front of it there is a pulley for collecting snow, then it falls on the rotor, where it unwinds and is thrown to the side.

The height of the snow cover is 17 cm.

The range of ejection of the bulk of the snow cover by the SM-2 snow blower is 5 m.

The average speed is 2-4 km/h.

The weight of the SM-2 snow blower is about 55 kg.

A simpler attachment for snow removal is a shovel blade. This is a sheet of metal curved in an arc and located at an angle, with an active knife installed at the bottom for cutting hard layers of snow.

The overall dimensions of the blade blade are as follows: 495×1000×400 mm.

The rotation angle can be adjusted ±20°.

The average speed of the Favorit walk-behind tractor together with a blade-shovel is 2.5-5 km/h.

Wheels and lugs

Favorit walk-behind tractors come standard with pneumatic wheels of sizes 4.00-10 or 4.5-10. However, due to their low weight, they often slip and slip when receiving increased loads.

Therefore, if it is necessary to increase grip on the ground, it is recommended to use lugs. They are a metal rim with welded herringbone plates.

Caterpillars

When transporting loads in winter, traction is a big problem, since even lugs often do not help. In this case, pneumatic wheels can be replaced with tracks. They increase the contact area of the device with the ground, thereby improving the ride.

When choosing tracks, you need to pay attention to their width. The larger it is, the better the grip on the surface. However, this will make it harder for the engine to power it, since tracks are very heavy equipment.

Weights

Another way to improve the adhesion of the Favorit walk-behind tractor to the surface of the earth is to give it additional weight using weights. Factory weights are produced in the form of 18 kg pancakes, which are hung on the wheel frame in front of the wheel.

Usually two pancakes are hung. In total, instead of 70 kg, you can get a device weighing 110 kg.

Adapters

When working with the Favorit walk-behind tractor, there is a lot of physical strain on the operator, since he has to move behind it while standing and direct the movement. When performing long-term work, it is recommended to use adapters.

This is a special attachment with a chair, thanks to which you can do work while sitting.

User manual

Service

The key to long-term operation of the machine is proper care of it.

Experts recommend performing a few simple tasks that will significantly extend the life of the Favorite walk-behind tractor:

  • The machine should only be used for its intended purpose;
  • Before starting maintenance of the walk-behind tractor, it is necessary to allow the engine to cool;
  • Before carrying out work, it is necessary to inspect the walk-behind tractor for unnatural position of parts or their wear;
  • At the end of the work, clean the Favorite from any remaining dirt, dust or grass;
  • Avoid contact with water, as this may damage the device;
  • Engine oil should be changed every 25 hours of operation; it is recommended to use semi-synthetic 10W-30 or 10W-40;
  • After 100 hours of operation of the Favorit walk-behind tractor, it is necessary to change the transmission oil; the manufacturer recommends using Tad-17i, Tap-15v or their analogues.
  • It is necessary to monitor the condition of the air filters, spark plugs and clutch cable.

Run-in

The key to long-term and stable operation is the correct assembly and start of use of the Favorit walk-behind tractor.

Before starting full-fledged work, it is necessary to run-in the device. This means using it at half the maximum power. During break-in, the attachment should not be immersed in the ground more than 10 cm.

Running in is done so that the parts of the Favorite walk-behind tractor fall into place and get used to each other. After all, in the factory assembly there will definitely be some minor errors.

Upon completion of break-in, change the engine oil.

Basic faults

Favorite walk-behind tractors are reliable equipment. However, even they tend to break down periodically, since they are machines. Their owners should know how to repair basic faults:

Reasons that the engine does not start:

  • Empty fuel tank;
  • Poor quality gasoline;
  • The throttle control lever is in the wrong position;
  • The spark plug has failed or is dirty;
  • Low oil level in the crankcase.

Reasons why the engine runs intermittently:

  • The contact on the spark plug comes off;
  • Old or dirty gasoline is used;
  • The vent on the tank lid is clogged with debris;
  • The air filter is dirty;
  • Problems with the carburetor.

If the walk-behind tractor vibrates strongly, this is a signal that the cutters are installed incorrectly, are damaged, or the fasteners are loose.

Motoblock Favorite

The manufacturer of the Favorite walk-behind tractor is the Degtyarev plant (OJSC ZiD). Three times awarded Open Joint Stock Company “Plant named after V.A. Degtyarev" is a modern diversified enterprise, the largest in the Vladimir region and one of the leading machine-building enterprises in the country.

Its history began during the First World War, when the Russian army experienced an acute shortage of automatic small arms. In 1916, the First Russian Joint Stock Company of rifle and machine gun factories was created in Petrograd to implement the proposal of the Danish syndicate “Dansk Rekilriffel Syndikat” to build a new machine gun factory in the center of Russia.

On August 27, 1916, the construction of the first buildings of the Kovrov Machine Gun Plant began. This date is considered to be the plant’s birthday (the company has been named after V.A. Degtyarev since 1949). On August 12, 1917, the first submachine guns of the Danish designer Madsen’s system were handed over to the artillery inspector.

For over 50 years, OJSC “Plant named after V.A. Degtyarev” has dominated the Russian market of motorcycle products. His arsenal includes a whole range of different equipment, ranging from small 36 cc motorcycles to 200 cc two-, three- and four-wheeled motorcycles.

The main products are for military purposes, but there are also civilian products, including Favorit walk-behind tractors and Leader cultivators.

By rearranging the pulleys, you can expand the speed range of the walk-behind tractor from 3 to 11 km/h.

To ensure ease of use of the walk-behind tractor, the steering wheel with controls can be adjusted in height and rotation angle in the horizontal plane.

The use of special anti-vibration steering wheel handles has made it possible to minimize the negative impact of vibration on the hands and increase operator comfort.

The walk-behind tractor is equipped with cutters - cultivators, which allow soil cultivation, depending on the installation of two, four or six cutters with optimal performance.

An important feature of the walk-behind tractor is the presence of pneumatic tires, which provide ground clearance of 150 mm and significantly improve its functionality when transporting goods.

We present the most important information from the operating instructions for Favorit walk-behind tractors; you can familiarize yourself with the pictures by downloading the user manual from our website.

Operation of motoblocks Favorit OJSC ZiD

Cultivation. It is recommended to carry out soil cultivation in second gear. Changing the cultivation speed is achieved by changing the gear ratio of the V-belt drive by rearranging the pulleys installed on the engine gearbox and the walk-behind tractor gearbox (see section 7.4). After changing the V-belt transmission ratio, adjust it (see section 7.3).

Start the engine. Engage second gear. Engaging the gear must be done with the clutch lever in the “Disengaged” position. Slowly moving the clutch lever from the “Off” position to the “On” position will cause rotational movement of the rotors currently installed on the output shaft of the walk-behind tractor gearbox. The depth of tillage (up to 25 cm) depends on the position of the coulter: the deeper the coulter goes into the ground, the deeper the tillage.

Set the required coulter position after selecting the required tillage depth. Till a small area of soil, determine the depth to which the rotating knives go, and set the coulter in the position you need. If the required depth is not achieved, remove one pair of rotors. The required width of the cultivated soil is adjusted by installing two, four, or six rotors. If the walk-behind tractor engine increases speed with a simultaneous decrease in the working depth, press the steering handles and deepen the coulter. If the walk-behind tractor does not move forward, and the rotors “burrow,” slightly lift it by the handlebars and remove it from this position. If the walk-behind tractor “leads” towards the cultivated area, it means that part of the rotor is moving along the cultivated soil. Move the walk-behind tractor in the opposite direction.

When cultivating loose soil, be careful not to drive the rotors completely into the soil, thereby overloading the engine. On hard soils, virgin and turfed areas, treat in several passes, each time increasing the depth of treatment, changing the position of the coulter. In this case, good crushing of soil lumps is achieved and its most uniform structure is ensured. The cultivation of the above soils should be carried out with a minimum rotation speed of the cultivator blades (in 1st gear).

To avoid trampling of the treated soil, it is possible to rotate the steering handles to the required angle, which allows the operator to be behind, to the side of the walk-behind tractor. During operation, the space between the rotary blades and the gearbox housing can become clogged with grass and plant roots. In this case, to avoid damage to the V-belt, immediately stop the walk-behind tractor and remove any plants or foreign objects stuck there.

When cultivating the soil, constantly ensure that the walk-behind tractor remains in a horizontal position. When cultivating on slopes, be especially careful when changing direction. Guide the cultivator diagonally or across the slope. It is not allowed to move the cultivator along a slope with a slope of more than 15º. 13 After finishing work on the walk-behind tractor: — move the clutch control lever to the “Off” position; — move the throttle control lever to the “Stop” position; — turn on the neutral gear of the gearbox; — turn off the ignition by pressing the “Stop” button; — close the fuel tap. Carry out necessary maintenance

Adjustment of V-belt transmission for walk-behind tractor Favorit MB - 3, MB - 4, MB - 5

Adjust the V-belt drive by moving the engine relative to the frame. To do this, remove the casing and loosen the nuts securing the engine to the frame and the jumpers between the engine gearbox and the steering wheel support. The engine is positioned in such a way that when the clutch is engaged, the belt branch bends from the force of the finger by 30.40 mm at an equidistant distance between the pulleys. When the clutch is engaged, the belt should not touch the upper and lower stops. The gap between the belt and the upper limiter should be within 1.3mm. The gap between the belt and the lower stop is within 7.15 mm (Fig. 7).

Adjust the clutch cable tension using the adjusting screw (Fig. 11) by loosening the lock nut on the clutch lever housing. The clutch cable tension should be minimal, but not cause the V-belt to slip. The criteria for failure and limit state of belts should be considered to be breakage, cracks deep to the load-bearing layer, delamination of more than 1/3 of the length and the impossibility of compensating for belt elongation in the walk-behind tractor drive. ATTENTION! When securing the engine, check the location of the working grooves of the V-belt drive pulleys; they should be located in the same plane. Permissible deviation is no more than 2.5 mm.

Description of the brand "Favorit"

Motoblocks "Favorit" are a development of the Kovrov plant named after. A.V. Degtyarev, also known as “ZID”. Until 1949, the plant was called the “Kovrov Machine Gun Plant” and only in 1949 it was renamed in honor of the hero of labor and one of the leaders of the enterprise.

For a long time, from the beginning of the 20th century, the plant's specialization was the production of weapons (machine guns, artillery mounts). Later, the production of road motorcycles was added to the production of weapons.

Motorcycles from ZID quickly became popular in the USSR and beyond. Already in 1949, motorcycle production reached 5 thousand units per month. So the plant in the city of Kovrov became even more famous, not only for the production of military equipment, but also for civilian products. Tillage equipment is another area of the plant’s activities.

Motoblocks produced under the Favorit brand are considered one of the best in Russia, as evidenced by reviews from owners. Both cultivators and walk-behind tractors of this brand are included in the list of the most famous and best-selling items from ZID. Since its release, the walk-behind tractor has been repeatedly subjected to changes, improvements in design and characteristics.

The Favorit range of walk-behind tractors includes models with both petrol and diesel engines. These devices are equipped with engines from Honda, Briggs & Stratton, Lifan, Robin Subaru, as well as engines produced by Kovrov - ZID of various brands.

Attachment overview

The review presents the most popular types of attachments from ZID, as well as recommended attachments from other manufacturers that can be used with Favorit walk-behind tractors.

Milling cutters

Milling cutters for “Favorit” are supplied complete with the main device. They are always packaged unassembled, so the owner must assemble them himself. The assembly process must be performed with thick fabric gloves, observing safety rules and following the instructions from the instructions for the walk-behind tractor.

It is allowed to use both regular saber knives and crow's feet. There are no special recommendations on the types of cutters for “Favorite”; you can use ordinary knives with a standard fastening method (bolts).

The following video clearly shows the process of working a walk-behind tractor with cutters

Adapter, trailer

An adapter is one of the most useful types of attachments for a walk-behind tractor. It differs from a cart in the presence of a seat. Trailers can be either with or without a seat. Considering the sufficient power of walk-behind tractors of the Favorit model range (6 hp or more), it is allowed to use adapters, dump trailers, and regular carts with the devices.

Recommended types of adapters or trailers: universal for walk-behind tractors Neva, Cascade, Oka, Favorit, Salyut, Centaur, for example, models, Motor Sich, Veima, Zirka-61 and others.

Mowers

A new product produced by ZID is the “Favorit” rotary mower (2013 release). Other models of mowers suitable for all walk-behind tractors of the model range: Zarya, Centaur, Ship, KR-1, KR-02, VM-02 Forte, Zubr, Grunfeld. Volcano. The use of other types of mowers, for example segment mowers, is permitted.

Lugs

Grousers are used, as a rule, for a better plowing process, in combination with a plow. They are an iron wheel, attached to the place of the wheels on the walk-behind tractor. Grousers are also included in the kit for tillage (in addition to the lugs, the kit usually includes a hiller, a plow, fasteners, and a coulter).

Such kits are convenient because they are attached in a universal way, are suitable for the majority of heavy and medium-sized walk-behind tractors, and allow you to save money compared to purchasing all the components separately. Dimensions (models) of lugs for “Favorit” walk-behind tractors: Intertool TL600-1, Neva 560x130, Intertool TL700-1, 600x200.

You can choose any plow for the “Favorite” walk-behind tractor, even the most common and inexpensive one. The universal plow model is the PNM 1-20 plow, the Mole plow, 1-20 plows from the Neva, Centaur, Salyut, Oka, Ugra, Zubr, and Cascade walk-behind tractors are perfect. In the video later in the article you can study in detail the process of installing the plow and lugs on the walk-behind tractor.

Snow blower, shovel

The following models of snow blowers are suitable for Favorite walk-behind tractors: Veima, WM1050, Grunfeld ST360, Volodar, Zirka-61. To connect a snow blower, the walk-behind tractor must have a PTO and a power of at least 6 horsepower. A shovel blade for a walk-behind tractor can have different sizes, the difference mainly lies in the length of the equipment.

Dumpboards can be 1 m, 90 cm, 80 and even 60 cm in length. For utility work, a shovel with a rubber lining along the bottom edge is better suited; for snow removal, the classic version without a rubber lining is better.

Potato digger and potato planter

Even for powerful walk-behind tractors, which include the Favorit, it is quite acceptable to use a fixed-type potato digger, for example, Krot, Mastertool, Premium, KV-2. This equipment is attached in a simple way - with bolts. In order to increase the amount of potatoes dug up, more complex designs can be used, such as a vibrating potato digger.

Potato planters for the Favorit walk-behind tractor: Bomet, KSN-1, KSN-1m, APK-3, KSM-2, KSC-1 and others.

Other useful attachments include such types of equipment as weights, hillers, rakes, tedders, hitches of various types (universal or for a specific type of equipment). The weighting agent is used on difficult soils, virgin soil; usually this type of attachment is not used for working on soft soils. The most common weights weighing 8, 10, 15 kg.

User manual

The instructions for the “Favorit” walk-behind tractor allow the owner to correctly assemble and configure the walk-behind tractor; in the future, after purchase, all operation must be carried out in accordance with the instructions for using the walk-behind tractor. Do not violate the recommendations on fuel materials, do not skimp on oils and lubricants, the useful life of the walk-behind tractor depends on their quality.

What oil and fuel should I use for Favorit walk-behind tractors?

In the operating instructions for the MB series walk-behind tractors, as well as for other models, there are clear instructions on the type of oils that can be filled. It is easier to choose a fuel material based on the engine type: it is either AI-92, 92 gasoline, or diesel fuel.

  • Engine oil: SAE 10 W - 30 API SF or SG.
  • Transmission oil (for the gearbox): TAD 17I, MS20.
  • Oil volumes for the gearbox are at least 50 cm3, for the engine - at least 1100 cm3.

Instructions for first start-up and running-in

The first start is performed after the following steps:

  • reactivation of the walk-behind tractor;
  • assembly, installation of wheels or cutters (depending on the tasks);

Starting the walk-behind tractor begins with starting the engine. The documents supplied with the device contain information on the operation of the engine; study it before working with the walk-behind tractor. After warming up the engine, it is allowed to switch to operating mode.

Run-in duration is 25 hours. Only after running-in is it allowed to put 100% load on the walk-behind tractor. Cultivation is usually carried out in second gear. It is regulated by setting the appropriate position of the opener.

Break-in features

The described walk-behind tractors themselves are very reliable and durable, but they require proper operation. Run-in is carried out in the first few hours of using the machine and is carried out with the aim of maximum grinding in and running-in of all components of the unit. In this regard, maximum speed is not recommended during this period.

Initially, the running-in begins with a visual inspection of the walk-behind tractor. If no deficiencies are identified, then you can start the engine. It should idle for about 30 minutes. After this, it is allowed to slightly increase the speed and carry out work in all available gears, all the nuances are analyzed and potential problems are identified.

Run-in is performed within 30–50% of the walk-behind tractor's capabilities. For example, cultivation is carried out to a depth of 100 mm, and loads are transported weighing no more than 200 kilograms. In general, the running-in period takes at least 20 hours. After this, be sure to change the oil.

Owner reviews

Nikolay, Pskov:

“I have a diesel favorite, 7 hp, Subaru engine, it’s been running for 5 years. My constant assistant and the best equipment that I had from the very beginning after buying the dacha. I won’t talk about the parameters for a long time; you can read everything on the Internet. My review is more about what pros and cons I have identified for myself in his work over the years.

Advantages: powerful, fast, very comfortable, sufficient steering wheel height, maneuverable, balanced, without distortions. The build quality is very good. There is no comparison with Chinese cheap walk-behind tractors.

Disadvantages: plowing requires lugs or weights, or better yet all at once.”
