Harvesters "Claas"

Claas is a world famous German manufacturer of agricultural machinery.
Its main production unit was and remains combines, which have gained confidence not only on the European continent, but also far beyond its borders. The history of Claas combines began with the Dominator model range, some machines from which are still in use. Subsequent technical developments took this brand to a completely new level and cemented its authority among customers.

Taking into account popular trends in the domestic market, we will focus on the most popular Claas series and their model options.

Grain harvester "Claas" Mega 204

Combine harvester (Mega)

Production has been discontinued.

Designed for harvesting and pre-processing of the crop, its further shipment and chopping of straw under any harvesting conditions.

For combine harvesters of the Mega model range, headers with working widths from 4.50 to 9.00 m are available. Uniform transportation of the crop mass increases productivity. This is facilitated by spirally controlled feed fingers across the entire width of the feed auger. Any blockages in the header are quickly eliminated using a hydraulic reversing device. In addition to the Contour system for adjusting the header to the undulating soil topography, the Auto Contour system additionally ensures the same stubble height across the direction of movement of the machine, without requiring the intervention of the combine operator.

The acceleration of the crop in front of the threshing drum is the most noticeable feature of this threshing system. High speed generates significantly greater centrifugal forces, resulting in better grain separation. By placing the accelerator in front of the threshing drum, the coverage angle of the concave reached 151°. This is significantly more than any other threshing system. All this ensures a uniform supply of plant mass, more gentle threshing through a thin layer of straw and less damage to the grains.

The length of the straw walker, open at the bottom, on all combines of the Mega model range is 4.40 m. At high levels of drop, the straw is vigorously shaken. The cleaned mass is conveyed along a separate ramp to the shaking board. This prevents blockages and makes subsequent cleaning easier. Above each straw walker key there are two lever-controlled ripper teeth located one behind the other. They actively loosen the straw from above, speed up its passage and thus reduce the thickness of the straw layer. Consequence: the residual grain falls out without hindrance through the straw and the straw walker blinds onto the grain board.

To obtain optimally cleaned grain, a long shaking board with a high drop ratio, a finely adjusted and uniform pressure air flow and long sieves are required. Mega combines have all this, along with optimal adjustment for all grain crops. Visual inspection of the exiting product is possible. By its quantity and composition you can judge whether the combine is properly adjusted. This allows you to correctly adjust the speed of the threshing drum, the concave clearance, the size of the sieve holes and the air pressure.

Lateral roll of the combine has a negative impact on cleaning performance. The 3-D cleaning system helps to cope with this task. Additional upward-slope oscillatory movements of the sieves compensate for the roll on the slope. The loading of the sieves becomes uniform over their entire width, which ensures full cleaning performance.

The APS threshing system with straw walkers for separating residual grain processes the plant mass extremely carefully, leaving the straw undamaged. The Mega produces a clean, well-shaped windrow that can be easily picked up by a high-performance baler.

Straw can also be chopped and scattered across the field. Claas straw choppers are distinguished by precisely cut short chaff and its uniform distribution over the entire working width of the combine header. The position of the deflectors is set electrically from the cabin, taking into account the side wind.

Combine harvesters of the Mega model range are equipped with Daimler Chrysler engines. A high-pressure injection system with individual fuel injection pumps, magnetically controlled, combined with an electronic engine control system, provides outstanding power characteristics with minimal fuel consumption.

The location of the engine leaves enough space for maintenance work. Air intake for cooling the engine, hydraulic system and air conditioning is carried out in a dust-free area. Filters and grilles are easy to access and easy to clean.

The running gear is driven by a hydrostatic travel drive. Using the multifunction control lever, the “forward-backward” and “slow-fast” modes are selected in any of the three, depending on the required torque, gears from starting from a standstill to driving at maximum speed. No clutch engagement, no gear shifting.

The hydraulic system has been optimized, as in the Lexion combine. This made it possible to run multiple hydraulic functions simultaneously. A clearly structured hydraulic piping system and the use of pipes instead of hoses make maintenance even easier.

The multifunction lever located on the right is the central control element of the Mega combine. It contains control buttons for all functions that are often used: direction and speed of movement, operation of the header and reel. All indicators and switches related to the operation of the machine are located to the right of the combiner on the console.

To clean the filters of the cabin ventilation and air conditioning system, simply raise the folding roof section. The cabin can also be equipped with a communication system and radio receiver.

Upon request, Mega can be equipped with an on-board information system. All the most important data on the machine and its operation are displayed and stored in memory. It is also possible to install an AST terminal from Agrocom, which will make it possible to map the yield directly during harvesting.
