The newest NEFAZ bus received a Weichai Power gas engine
We have already reported that buses produced by KAMAZ PJSC will begin to be massively equipped with engines from the Chinese corporation Weichai Power. And now in Naberezhnye Chelny the newest urban “low-floor truck” NEFAZ-5299-40-57 with a WP7NG gas engine of Euro-5 level is presented.
For the first time, the new look of NEFAZ buses (Neftekamsk Automobile Plant, a subsidiary of KAMAZ PJSC) was demonstrated at the Moscow Busworld Russia 2016 exhibition using the example of the second generation electric bus KAMAZ-6282, which was the first to receive a promising body.
Last fall, at the Comtrans 2017 exhibition in Moscow, the newest city bus NEFAZ-5299-40-52, equipped with a 250-horsepower Cummins ISB6.7e5 diesel engine and a 6-speed ZF automatic transmission, was finally shown.

As for gas-powered buses, NEFAZ has been successfully selling such vehicles in Russia for a long time. The company's lineup includes several large-capacity urban and suburban models with engines running on compressed natural gas (methane). At the same time, NEFAZ installed engines from various KAMAZ, Cummins, and Mercedes-Benz on its buses.
NEFAZ-5299-40-57 became the first large-capacity city bus from Neftekamsk to receive a Weichai Power gas engine. This machine is equipped with an inline 6-cylinder engine model WP7NG260E51. Working volume - 7.47 l. Rated power - 260 hp. (at 2100 rpm). Maximum torque - 1000 Nm (at 1300-1500 rpm). Ecological class - Euro-5. Gas fuel is placed in cylinders on the roof. Their total volume is 197 m3 (8x123 l). Claimed CNG consumption is 55 m3/100 km. Mileage without refueling - 400 km.
The NEFAZ-5299-40-57 model is also equipped with a ZF 6AP1200B automatic transmission and a ZF AV-133/80 portal drive axle. The front suspension is independent pneumatic. Body length - 12,400 mm. Front/middle/rear door opening width: 1200/1300/1200 mm. The total passenger capacity is 110 people (the cabin has 28 seats and one equipped place for a wheelchair).
It should be noted that NEFAZ ranks third in sales of passenger buses in Russia after the Pavlovsk (PAZ brand) and Likinsky (LIAZ) bus plants. Last year, the company sold 501 cars on the market.

NEFAZ bus powered by liquefied natural gas
A new model NEFAZ-5299-40-57 LNG, powered by liquefied natural gas, has appeared in the line of urban low-floor buses from Neftekamsk. In 2022, it passed certification tests and received vehicle type approval. Transport enterprises of the Chelyabinsk region, the Komi Republic and St. Petersburg showed interest in the bus. Currently, NEFAZ-5299-40-57 LNG is being prepared for transfer to test operation in St. Petersburg, upon completion of which it will go into mass production.
NEFAZ-5299-40-57 LNG retained all the advantages of the base model: a low floor level, an enlarged middle door opening, a spacious storage area, as well as a “kneeling” system, which allows you to tilt the body for convenient boarding and disembarking of passengers. The bus fully complies with the “Accessible Environment” program: it has a mechanical ramp for unhindered entry into the cabin for passengers with limited mobility, a special place for attaching a wheelchair, and buttons for communicating with the driver. NEFAZ-5299-40-57 LNG is equipped with well-proven components - a portal axle, independent front suspension, ZF automatic gearbox, as well as a Weichai gas engine.
A distinctive feature of the NEFAZ-5299-40-57 LNG is the fuel storage system - liquefied methane: in the rear overhang there is a cryotank with a capacity of 350 liters, providing a range of over 300 km. The technologies used make it possible to store gas at a temperature of -160 °C, regardless of the ambient temperature.

A new model of the environmentally friendly bus NEFAZ-5299-40-57 powered by liquefied natural gas has appeared in the flagship line of low-floor city buses NEFAZ-5299.
KAMAZ became one of the first manufacturers in Russia to develop a bus powered by liquefied natural gas. Let us remind you that the model’s premiere took place at the international exhibition of commercial vehicles “Comtrans” in 2022. In 2022, the bus passed certification tests and received vehicle type approval. Transport enterprises of the Chelyabinsk region, the Komi Republic and St. Petersburg showed interest in the model. The bus is currently being prepared for transfer to test operation in St. Petersburg. After test operation, serial production of these buses will begin.
The new modification of the NEFAZ-5299-40-57 LNG bus (LNG - liquefied natural gas) retains all the advantages of the base model: low floor level, enlarged middle door opening, spacious storage area, kneeling system, which allows you to tilt the bus body for convenient boarding and disembarking passengers. Like the base model, NEFAZ-5299-40-57 LNG fully complies with the “Accessible Environment” program: the bus is equipped with a mechanical ramp for unhindered entry into the cabin for passengers with limited mobility, a special place for attaching a wheelchair, and communication buttons with the driver. The bus is equipped with well-proven components - a portal axle, independent front suspension, ZF automatic gearbox, Weichai gas engine.
A distinctive feature of NEFAZ-5299-40-57 LNG is the fuel storage system - methane. In the rear overhang of the bus there is a cryotank with a capacity of 350 liters. The technologies used make it possible to store gas at a temperature of minus 160 degrees, regardless of the ambient temperature. The volume of the cryonics tank is optimal for bus operation in city mode and provides a range of over 300 km on one fill-up.
The use of vehicles powered by natural gas, as one of the most environmentally friendly types of motor fuel, is a contribution to environmental protection. The purchase of environmentally friendly equipment is supported by various government programs, which ensures stable interest from consumers and the demand for buses. In addition, the use of natural gas can significantly reduce fuel costs compared to diesel buses.
MODERNIZED CITY BUS FROM NEFAZ
November 1, 2019
As part of the modernization of the equipment model range, the semi-low-floor city bus NEFAZ-5299-30-57 received a modern look - one of the premieres of the international exhibition of commercial vehicles COMTRANS 2022, held in early autumn in Moscow.
This model is a compromise solution that combines an affordable price and successful concepts used in the latest version of the low-floor bus NEFAZ-5299-40-52. Let us remind you that today more than a hundred of these buses have already entered service in motor transport enterprises in Moscow, Kazan and Rostov. The new model is distinguished by the fact that only 60% of its area has a low-floor design. This significantly reduces the cost of equipment, but at the same time leaves passengers with the convenience of boarding and disembarking through the front and middle doors, which is especially important for the elderly, passengers with children and passengers with disabilities.
As NEFAZ specialists explained, when creating this bus, models that are currently being produced were taken as a basis, and consumer comments were taken into account. Consumer properties are improved by a more convenient interior layout, the presence of a climate system, heated panoramic windows and an electronic display. The number of seats has also been increased and the handrails have been changed.
The model is designed taking into account modern requirements for passenger safety and comfort. The bus uses a number of details characteristic of previous models: glass barriers, a comfortable seat arrangement for people with disabilities, comfortable handrails with driver call buttons, USB sockets and a bright, spacious interior with a wide storage area.
Stylistically, the debutant is also close to its low-floor brother mentioned above: the front part of the bus is inherited from it. At the same time, the updated bus model has different dimensions, due to which the area of the bus is increased. The interior of the NEFAZ-5299-30-57 bus has 31 seats, with a total capacity of 106 people.
The bus is driven by an engine running on compressed natural gas and meeting Euro-5 environmental requirements. Eight gas cylinders are placed on the roof. The bus is equipped with a ZF automatic gearbox, sensors for coolant level and air filter clogging, and EBS - an electronically controlled pneumatic braking system. The manufacturer of the equipment also took care of the drivers: the bus is convenient to drive due to ergonomic controls, a new instrument panel, and modern exterior mirrors.
In the near future, the first prototype of the bus will be sent for testing and certification. By the end of 2022, NEFAZ-5299-30-57 is planned to be put into mass production.
