Foton Lovol FL956F
The Foton FL956F front loader is a high-performance machine that provides solutions to the most complex tasks due to its short work cycle and 3 m3 bucket. Design features allow the loader to operate on rough terrain, performing operations with sufficient maneuverability.
- The loader is equipped with a full-hydraulic swing system;
- A closed vibration cabin with great visibility is used, in which the working conditions are comfortable and safe.
- Additional control control, ease of operation.
Diesel engine WD61567G3-36 (manufactured under license from STEYR - Austria).
This 9.72 liter engine is a six-cylinder in-line turbocharged diesel engine producing 220 kW. With fuel consumption of only 194g/kW*h. WD61567G3-36 engine equipped with an electronically controlled air bleed valve and supercharger (Wastegate), which determines a large torque range, electronically controls the operating pressure in the fuel system and optimizes acceleration ability (throttle response)
Switching off the air supply when the speed decreases, the presence of an intelligent control device that controls the air and drain valves ensures high efficiency.
The WD615 engine is equipped with various sensors: ambient temperature and humidity sensors, etc., the electronic control unit ensures good engine operation in various conditions (For example, in high mountain areas and at different temperatures).
This series of engines complies with the environmental standards Euro 2 - Euro 3.
Advantages of this engine:
- Torque reserve 30%.
- Excellent starting at low temperatures. Engine systems allow you to start the engine at temperatures of -15℃ without the use of special means. And at temperatures down to -40 ℃ with the use of devices that facilitate engine starting.
- Improved engine efficiency. When operating in nominal mode, it has very low fuel consumption, consumption per 100 km is 22-24 liters.
A single-stage, four-element torque converter with twin turbines provides smooth starting, ease of operation and variable speed control.
The front loader's gearbox is ZF, automatic, with two speed ranges and the ability to engage a lower gear. Transmission ranges are switched using a small steering column lever on the left side
Meritor axles (USA) with front fixed and rear swinging, used in cars, provide a smooth ride.
The hydraulic system continuously adjusts hydraulic fluid flow and pressure to suit operating conditions, saving fuel consumption and reducing heat generation. Proportional priority compensation electro-hydraulic valves create different flow levels for the piston and rod ends of the hydraulic cylinders, providing a constant flow rate for the hydraulic system.
Cabin, controls
Transmission ranges are switched using a small steering column lever on the left side. On the right under the steering wheel there is a turn signal lever, on which a number of additional switches are located. Below, under the steering column, there are only two pedals - gas and brake, and to the right of the seat there are two levers that control the movements of the boom and bucket. Thus, thanks to the use of automatic transmission, there is only the necessary minimum of levers in the operator’s workspace - which makes working conditions easier and helps reduce fatigue. The easy-to-grip steering wheel has a handle that helps in situations where you have to maneuver in small areas, often turning the steering wheel from lock to lock.

Wide, curved cab glass front and rear improves visibility for the front loader operator. External panoramic rearview mirrors are designed to make maneuvering easier. The relatively small and rearward sloping engine compartment cover improves visibility to the rear. For work at night, several headlights are provided - four in front of the cab and two in the rear. Well, of course, there are “turn signals” and “dimensions” here.
Entry into the cabin of the Foton FL956F front loader is facilitated thanks to several handrails, optimally designed steps and an anti-slip coating on the upper platform. Doors are provided on both sides of the cabin - this also often helps out during work. There are also special latches on the body that can be used to secure these doors in the open position. As for the control features, everything is predictably simple: the steering wheel rotates without any effort, since the rotation of the articulated frame is controlled by powerful hydraulic cylinders. The movements of the bucket are controlled by two levers to the right of the operator. One of them controls the lifting of the boom, the other controls the rotation of the bucket. The noise level in the cabin is also relatively low.
The rear counterweight simultaneously functions as a bumper and protects the lower part of the engine compartment.
For review, two front loaders from Foton Lovol were provided: FL956F - with a lifting capacity of 5 tons, as well as FL936F, designed to lift 3 tons of cargo. To match the load capacity, the main tasks for which such machines are usually purchased are slightly different. If for 3-ton loaders the most common loading is construction materials, soil or snow, then for 5-ton loaders mass loading of soil, crushed stone and other rocks is more suitable. Since these machines were developed at the same time, they are identical in design. The larger Foton Lovol FL956F loader looks like the FL936F has been enlarged using a copier.
Testing began with testing one of the loaders in action. Since part of the test area was covered with snow, it was not possible to park two cars side by side due to these large snowdrifts. But that’s what the bucket is for, so that it can move any mountains and rubble. A huge machine with a bucket, gigantic by ordinary standards, with a lifting capacity of 5 tons, began clearing meter-long snowdrifts. You rarely see such a picture, since more modest devices usually cope with snow removal. Actually, the work was completed in 2 passes - and a space the size of a volleyball court was cleared to an acceptable level. During the course of the action, another attractive feature of such a loader was demonstrated - the ability to maneuver in a limited area without any problems, thanks to the articulated frame.
The engine of the FL956F loader – Weichai – Deutz is an in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine with a volume of 9,726 cm3 and a power of 220 hp. Peak torque of 843 Nm is achieved between 1,400 and 1,500 rpm. For the “three-tonner”, a 6-cylinder diesel engine was also used as a power unit, but with a smaller volume - 6,234 cm3 and a corresponding power - 125 hp. By opening the hood cover located at the rear of the loader, you can gain convenient access to the engine and all necessary parts and filters during maintenance.
The transmission of both loaders is ZF, automatic, with two speed ranges and the ability to engage a lower gear. Transmission ranges are switched using a small steering column lever on the left side. On the right under the steering wheel there is a turn signal lever, on which a number of additional switches are located. The instrument panel became an interesting solution. In its architecture, it resembles a kaleidoscope, but at the same time, all the pictograms and font of the inscriptions are easy to read and there are no difficulties in reading the readings of these devices. It contains scales for temperature and oil pressure in the engine and hydraulic system, as well as coolant temperature, battery charging, hour meter and a number of other parameters. The easy-to-grip steering wheel has a handle - a boss, which helps in situations where you have to maneuver in small areas, often turning the steering wheel from lock to lock.
The designers tried to create a reliable and inexpensive device to perform the relevant tasks. In particular, to ensure longevity of the mechanical part of the structure, the frame and chassis were designed with a significant safety factor. When developing the machine, 3D modeling techniques were widely used. And the problem of reliability of hydraulic actuators was solved by selecting optimal geometric parameters of hydraulic cylinders using components from Bosch. Foton Lovol is one of the young and rapidly developing manufacturers. In the second half of the 1990s, it was a relatively small company with about 500 employees, which produced various agricultural equipment. Over ten years, production volumes have increased more than 200 times and at this point in time Shandong Foton Lovol Heavy Industries Co Ltd. an automaker with a staff of about 10,000 people, offering a wide range of models of various types of equipment. The company has certified its production according to the ISO9001 standard.
I liked the loaders because they have an excellent price-quality ratio. As for the control features, everything here was predictably simple - the steering wheel rotates without any effort, since the rotation of the articulated frame is controlled by powerful hydraulic cylinders. The movements of the bucket are controlled by two levers to the right of the operator. One of them controls the lifting of the boom, the other controls the rotation of the bucket. The noise level in the cabin is also relatively low.
Only one factor caused bewilderment - the lack of technical information on the design of these machines. In the technical description and annotations that we were able to find, there are often such verbal misunderstandings as: “the position of the variable speed step - two steps go forward, and one goes backward” (the number of gears is two speeds forward and one backward) or “cyclic image cold oil pressure" (forced oil circulation (for cooling)). Perhaps it was simply not possible to find a good translator from Chinese to Russian. But without such translation difficulties, the path to the hearts of Russian consumers could have become much shorter. Moreover, in the English version of this description there are only one or two such incidents.
The machine has an attractive design. The loader cabins are uniquely designed with characteristic curved front and rear windows. The rear counterweight simultaneously functions as a bumper and protects the lower part of the engine compartment. The quality of the paint on the surfaces of these loaders also made a good impression.
These loader models fully comply with the company’s stated priorities - to produce good quality equipment while providing affordable, competitive prices. They are a good choice as a budget solution to loading problems.
