An all-metal van is used for transporting goods, and this type of van, such as a refrigerator, is capable of maintaining a set temperature for a long period of time inside the van, which ensures the freshness of food, flowers and other consumer goods. Light-duty vehicles have been and will continue to be a means of earning money and transport among the population. The following vans are popular among manufacturers in Russia: Gazelle “Next”, Sobol “Next”, ZIL “Bychok”, Iveco dialy, Hyundai, Ford, Mercedes, Fiat Ducato, Peugeot. These are the ones that will be discussed in this article. A comparative test of all-metal vans will help you decide which all-metal van to choose, consider all brands.

It began to be produced one year later than the previously described compatriot (in 2014). The exterior is very original; some will not like it, while others will note the originality of such a solution. Inside the passenger car there are comfortable seats, heated, steering wheel height adjustment, seat belts meet European requirements. Standard equipment without airbags and ABS system will cost approximately 700 thousand rubles.

Lada Largus

Those who form the product line at the VAZ enterprise clearly eat their own bread for a reason: as in the case of choosing a cheap seven-seater car, it turns out that only Lada has a cheap offer in the segment. Technically, the Largus van is, of course, identical to a regular station wagon: there is the same MacPherson strut at the front and a semi-independent beam at the rear (which partly limits the maximum load capacity) and the same VAZ engines - eight-valve 11189 and 16-valve 21129. The first produces 87 hp, and the second is 106, both are combined exclusively with a five-speed manual (and the second from this year - not only with the French JR5, but also with the VAZ 21809) and officially digest 92-octane gasoline.


Lada Largus Van (FS0) '07.2012–present

The Largus-based van has one wheelbase option - the standard 2,905 mm, and the cargo compartment volume is slightly more than 2.5 cubic meters: 2,540 liters. The carrying capacity of the vehicle is easy to calculate based on the stated indicators of curb and permissible maximum weight, which are 1,275 and 2,000 kilograms, respectively. However, almost all owners note that 725 kg is far from their personal record.

However, speaking about the carrying capacity and volume of the body, it is worth noting that on the official Lada website there is also a section for special vehicles based on Largus - there, in particular, there is a modification from the Promtech company with the luggage compartment volume increased to 3.8 cubic meters, as well as three options "extended" refrigerator. True, the curb weight of such a vehicle, according to the manufacturer, ranges from 1,260 to 1,530 kg, but the permissible maximum is still the same 2,000, which means a possible loss in carrying capacity (but we remember, yes). In addition, the engine listed is K4M from Renault, which is not entirely clear, given that the Largus factory has long been equipped only with VAZ engines.

Promtech does not indicate prices for its special vehicles, but the cost of a standard Largus van is no secret. The base price tag is 561 thousand rubles: it will be a car with the mandatory driver's airbag and ABS, but without air conditioning, audio system, heated seats, power steering and even central locking. You can get power steering for 15 thousand in the following configuration, for 618 thousand the car will already have air conditioning, power windows and heated seats, and in the top Comfort version for 636 thousand there is a passenger airbag and fog lights. In addition, for 656 thousand you can get a car in the same top version, but with a 16-valve 106-horsepower engine.

Well, we have already talked about the passenger versions of Largus more than once, but we will repeat ourselves briefly. Here you can choose from five-seat and seven-seat versions at prices from 591 to 712 and from 667 to 736 thousand rubles, respectively. The trunk volume is 560 liters for the five-seater version and 135 for the seven-seater, and the list of equipment, of course, is wider than that of the van: here you can get different interior trim, rear parking sensors, a leather steering wheel and rear electric windows (due to the presence of glass).

Renault Dokker

  • Price of the commercial version: from 909,000 rubles
  • Price of the passenger version: from 905,000 rubles

The successor to Largus under the name Renault Dokker has been sold here since the end of 2022. The commonality of the platform means identical suspension designs - but Renault already has its own engines, “renault ones”. The 1.6-liter K7M gasoline engine produces 82 hp here, and for some, a plus will be the opportunity to choose the familiar 1.5-liter K9K diesel engine with 90 hp. However, the transmission, like the Largus, is exclusively five-speed manual.

Despite the smaller wheelbase than the Largus - 2,810 mm versus 2,905 - and shorter overall length, the Dokker has a larger cargo compartment volume due to the gain in width and height: with the passenger seat installed it is 3.3 m³, and if it is removed , you can get 3.9 cubes. By the way, Dokker in any version has not only rear hinged doors, but also a sliding side door - for some this may be important. Load capacity is listed at 750kg (600kg for the Access version), although if you subtract the curb weight from the permissible maximum curb weight, you get a less optimistic figure of 675kg.

The cost of the Dokker is significantly different from the Largus: for a basic van with power steering and a driver's airbag you will have to pay 909 thousand rubles. By the way, petrol versions are equipped with power steering, and diesel ones are equipped with electric power steering, and in addition, diesel cars have ESP with a hill start assist system by default, and for petrol cars ESP, even in top versions, needs to be purchased for 12 thousand rubles. To get an on-board computer, electric windows, an air recirculation flap in the cabin, height and reach adjustment for the driver's seat and steering wheel, as well as a load capacity of 750 kg, you need to pay 969 thousand for the Business version with a gasoline engine or 1,089,000 for a diesel van. However, even in this case, a passenger airbag, air conditioning, audio system, heated seats, electric mirrors, parking sensors and much more, including even the glove box lid, remain on the list of separate paid options.


Renault Dokker Van '2016–present

The cargo-passenger versions of Dokker are comparable in price: for the basic Access version they ask for 905 thousand rubles - but here a passenger airbag is included in the basic version, although otherwise the list is as empty as that of a van. An on-board computer, recirculation, electric windows, cruise control and some other options appear in the Life version for 960 thousand, and air conditioning with a cabin filter, electric mirrors and fog lights appear only in the Drive package for a little over a million. In the last two versions, for an additional payment of 110 thousand you can get a diesel engine, but heated seats, an audio system and parking sensors in any case remain available only for a fee.

Fiat Doblo Cargo

Fiat Doblo is one of the veterans of the market, which, however, has very moderate sales. From a technical point of view, it differs from the two previous versions primarily in the rear suspension: in the previous generation there was a single-leaf spring, and now there is an independent multi-link, thanks to which the Italians boast of “the best handling in the class.” Let’s leave aside the debate about what is more important in this class – controllability or simplicity coupled with reliability and load capacity. Moreover, the declared carrying capacity of the Doblo is very “unstable”: on the website it is 750 kg, including the driver, in the official brochure - 900 kg, including the driver, and in the price list - from 500 to 610 kg, depending on the wheelbase. Such “fluctuations” obviously lie in the differences between versions: according to OTTS, for each of the two wheelbase options there are six variations in total weight, the load capacity of which smoothly fluctuates from 600-odd for a “short” car to the same “900, including the driver” » for extended.


Fiat Doblò Cargo (263) '2015–present

Under the hood, the car can have two gasoline engines of the same volume of 1.4 liters: a 95-horsepower naturally aspirated one or a 120-horsepower turbo unit, with the first paired with a five-speed manual transmission, and the second with a six-speed manual transmission. Both engines are powered by 95-octane gasoline, but a more powerful turbocharged version is available only for the Combi utility version.

As we have already understood, another important difference between Doblo and the two previous options is the ability to order a car with an extended wheelbase at a price comparable to Dokker. The standard version is 4.4 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2,755 mm, while the extended version is 4,756 and 3,105 mm, respectively. In terms of cargo volume, this gives a noticeable gain: instead of 3.4-3.8 m³, you can get 4.2-4.6 depending on the position of the passenger seat. Well, we have already described the fluctuations in the declared carrying capacity above.

The price tag for the basic Fiat Doblo in the Cargo version is 1,089,000 rubles. This amount includes power steering, electric windows, heated electric mirrors, central locking and a driver’s airbag - that is, the “base” here is richer than that of the theoretically cheaper Dokker. True, a side sliding door is standard equipment only for the “long” Doblo Maxi for 1,209,000, and for a short car it must be ordered separately for 16.5 thousand. Well, options like a three-seat front row, air conditioning, seat height adjustment and audio preparation remain paid - and it’s not possible to order a standard audio system for a cargo van.

The five-seater passenger version of the Doblo Combi costs from 1,189,000 for a car with a 95-horsepower naturally aspirated engine and from 1,289,000 for a version with a turbo engine. The list of options for them has been expanded: a passenger airbag and a rear sliding door are included in the standard equipment, and for an additional fee, heated front seats are available (with an additional payment - separately for the driver and passenger), an audio system, side airbags, parking sensors, cruise control, a rain sensor and much more.

Peugeot Partner

We have also known Peugeot Partner for a long time: the model has been in production for more than 10 years. And here, too, we can note our own French feature of the suspension: it is a semi-independent torsion bar rear beam. It provides good driving comfort, but at the same time does not like overloads, so those who like to load until they run out of space may be upset by expensive repairs. At the front there is a regular MacPherson strut, like other cars on the PF2 platform. The main engine offered for the Partner is a petrol 1.6-liter EP6C with 120 hp, although the price list also includes a version with a 90-horsepower diesel engine of the same displacement. The gearbox is a non-alternative 5-speed manual.


Peugeot Partner Van '2015–present

The French van also has two length options - however, with a unchanged wheelbase of 2,728 mm. The short body is 4,380 mm long, and the long body is 4,628, and depending on this, the available internal volume is 3.3-3.7 m³ or 3.7-4.1 m³, depending on the presence and position of the folding front seat passenger. Considering that the front row can be three-seater, the load capacity ranges from 580 to 650 kg for the short version and from 615 to 725 kg for the long version.

The Partner cargo truck is offered in a single configuration, which with a gasoline engine is priced at 1,235,000 rubles, and with a diesel engine at 1,405,000. It includes a driver's airbag, power steering, two-way adjustable steering wheel and electric windows. Like the Fiat, a sliding side door is standard equipment only for the long version: in the short version you have to pay an extra 19 thousand for it, and for 39 thousand you can get sliding doors on both sides. Peugeot Partner Van '2015–present

The “civilized” Partner Tepee is noticeably more expensive: the basic Active version with a gasoline engine costs 1,428,000 rubles, the “off-road” Outdoor version costs 1,478,000 (a diesel version is available for 1,528,000), and the top-end Allure costs 1,540,000. At the same time, there is an airbag in the “base” there is one, but there are power windows, air conditioning and heated electric mirrors, and in older versions it is proposed to pay extra for the remaining airbags (passenger and side), heated front seats, an audio system, climate control and some other options.

Citroen Berlingo

Passenger versions of the Berlingo Multispace do not lag behind the commercial versions in terms of identity with Peugeot - except that the diesel version is not in the price list. And of all the models present on the list, it is the “heaviest”: its rear suspension has springs resting on a beam or a continuous axle in all-wheel drive versions (yes, all-wheel drive is also available here). Accordingly, what is not very good for a family car, is simply ideal for a commercial one: the leaf spring suspension is simpler than others and more tolerant of overloads. The optional 4Motion all-wheel drive is quite familiar here, with a rear axle coupling.


Volkswagen Caddy Kasten '2015–present

Another reason to rejoice is the whole scattering of engines offered for the Caddy. Of course, the joy will be moderate: three small-volume TSI turbo engines have been added to the line: 1, 1.2 and 1.4 liters with a power of 102, 84 and 125 hp. respectively. However, there are also more “working” options in the form of a simple 1.6-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with 110 horsepower and a two-liter diesel engine with 110 or 140 horsepower. we have some left. As an alternative to 5- or 6-speed manual gearboxes for the 1.4-liter engine and diesel, DSG robots are offered - and this is also a “unique” offer, because all other “heels” are not offered in two-pedal versions.

Volkswagen would not be itself if it did not offer at least two options for length and wheelbase. The Caddy comes in a “regular” version, with a wheelbase of 2,682 mm and a total length of 4.5 meters, and in the Maxi version, where the wheelbase grows to 3 meters and the overall length to almost 5. In practice, this results in an increase in the cargo compartment from 3 ,3-3.7 cubic meters (as usual, depending on the position of the front passenger seat) to 4.2-4.7. Well, the “off-road” version of Alltrack will cost 1.8 million rubles.

Mercedes-Benz Citan

Mercedes-Benz Citan is a joint development of Daimler and the Renault-Nissan alliance, which is already more than five years old. We have it, rather, on a “residual basis”, since there are few people willing to pay for a Mercedes based on the Renault Cangoo. Mercedes-Benz Citan Kastenwagen Lang (W415) '2012–present

The length and wheelbase offered by the configurator are the same: 4,321 and 2,697 mm, although there are several options for equipment and load capacity. Depending on the maximum weight, the load capacity varies from 319 to 477 kg, and the volume of the cargo compartment is 3 cubic meters.

The Citan commercial van costs from 1,650,000 rubles for the gasoline version to 1,740,000 for the 110-horsepower diesel engine. The list of equipment is more French than German: the base includes only a driver's airbag and power steering. Everything else, including not only a passenger airbag or rear view camera, but even an outside air temperature indicator, are additional options. A commercial Citan Tourer with five seats is estimated at 1.77-1.86 million rubles, depending on the engine, and the “personal” version of the Tourer costs exactly the same.

Renault Kangoo ZE

Electric Kangoo is the most unusual “heel” on the Russian market. The cargo volume also increases proportionally: from 3-3.5 to 4-4.6 m³. Taking into account the increased curb weight to 1.5-1.6 tons, the carrying capacity has decreased slightly: it is just over 600 kilograms.

The vans have the same equipment, but with a list of additional equipment. The “base” includes a driver’s airbag, air conditioning, electric mirrors and power windows, heated front seats and an additional diesel interior heater – ready for any operating conditions, after all. Considering the price of 2,619,000 rubles for the short version and 2,689,000 for the long version, it seems a little strange the French decision to leave in the list of options a passenger airbag for 6 thousand, a standard radio for 5 and cruise control for 4. At the same time, the sliding side door is on in a long van - an option for 24 thousand, and two sliding doors - for 28 thousand, for a rear view camera you have to pay an extra 46 thousand, and for an alarm - 25. The rear part is glazed, but the list of basic equipment and paid options is almost identical - even a passenger airbag was not included in the basic equipment. An electric car with a long wheelbase, two rows of seats and a cargo compartment of 1.3 cubic meters costs 2,769,000 rubles.

ZIL "Bychok"

An all-metal van weighing 7 tons is designed for transporting various cargoes on all roads. This car is created for unpretentious owners. You should not expect comfort from the bull, there is no heating in cold weather, the steering wheel is thin, and the steering wheel adjustment quickly fails, the same can be said about the seat shock absorbers. Other minor defects in components and assembly may, over time, plague the owner of a ZIL Bychka. However, it is quite suitable for city driving. The advantages are good maneuverability, excellent visibility, a spacious cabin, a diesel engine with low fuel consumption.

Volkswagen Crafter - if you want German comfort

Despite the fact that Crafter commercial vans are assembled in Russia, their level of localization is quite low. The main units are sent from Germany, so the quality remains high and does not raise any questions. It is also worth noting that the VW Crafter has repeatedly won competitions for the title of best commercial vehicle. The main features of the machine are as follows:

  • A 2-liter diesel engine with 109 horsepower, very simple and high-quality in its design, there is also a 2.0 biturbo diesel engine producing 143 and 163 horsepower;
  • a huge number of configurations will allow you to buy the required version of the car in the desired body, with the required wheelbase length and load capacity;
  • you need to note the endurance of the car and its service life, the suspension does not fail even with difficult operation on Russian roads for a very long time;
  • the company offers pleasant purchasing conditions, the cost of a basic car is 1,347,000 rubles, which is only 100,000 more expensive than the Russian version of the vehicle.

Interestingly, the car offers excellent comfort, amazing reliability and a very competitive price. It was the Crafter that caused a sharp drop in buyer interest in the Mercedes Sprinter Classic, despite all the efforts of the corporation. The Germans have offered an amazing alternative to all other vans, which is in excellent demand. True, the cost will jump if you choose a good package.

"Iveco-Daily"

The cars are presented with excellent technical specifications and have very interesting configuration options. Even the Russian manufacturer offered an interesting alternative to foreign cars. GAZelle Next has become a very interesting competitor, and government programs to support businesses when purchasing this car could seriously increase the popularity of the model. The domestic auto industry needs support to survive in a difficult and competitive market.

However, pure competition is a fairly important gain for the market and for consumers. The higher the competition, the lower the cost and the higher the quality. Corporations strive to get the best they can out of existing technology, but not everyone succeeds. For example, the Sprinter in the new generation has almost completely ceased to be sold due to its very high cost.
