The Gorky Automobile is more likely to be classified as a small class truck; it can just as easily be classified as a passenger car. To drive a Gazelle, a category B license is sufficient, but the vehicle sometimes carries cargo that no passenger car can carry. With the advent of the GAZ 3302, a new type of transport arose in Russia, which should most accurately be called commercial.

The high popularity of the GAZ 3302 lies in its many advantages. These include:
- Simplicity of design and high degree of maintainability. The design of the vehicle makes it easy to access components and assemblies and allows minor repairs to be carried out by the driver. There is no need to have a large set of different keys and accessories.
- Availability of spare parts and assemblies. These elements are not in short supply. Any component can be purchased at a car store or service station.
- Reliability of the vehicle, components, assemblies. Can work in any climatic conditions, with different loads.
- Good maneuverability. Able to turn around on a small area, in a limited space. Quickly picks up speed.
- Ease of Management. The location of the steering wheel, gear lever and pedals creates ergonomic conditions for the driver to work.

Cabin
The basic model of the car has a three-seater cabin. Some latest models are available with a cabin that seats six people, including the driver. In this cabin, the seats are arranged in two rows, and the cabin is equipped with a roof with a high ceiling. The basic three-seat cab has two doors with rearview mirrors. The cabin for six passengers also has two doors. Rear row passengers board through the right door, after reclining the passenger seat in the first row.
The one-piece windshield with wiper and large side windows provide a clear view of the area for the driver and passengers. Some models were produced with a sleeping place for the driver.
The cabin is equipped with heating, air conditioning, ventilation and noise protection systems. The windshield is blown from the inside.
The machine is controlled using the steering wheel and gear shift lever. The systems are monitored using the dashboard, which is installed in front of the driver. It contains a speedometer, tachometer, coolant temperature and fuel reserve sensors.

Operation and repair manual
The demand for the machine is due to the maintainability and reliability of the design solution. The published repair manual describes the steps and technologies for replacing or restoring equipment.
Common gazelle breakdowns:
- engine overheating (requires replacement of cylinder head gaskets);
- failure of the clutch discs and release bearing (replacement of elements required);
- weak tension of the GRN chains (adjustment is necessary once every 3 months);
- loosening of suspensions (adjustment required);
- gearbox malfunction (can be eliminated by cleaning the clutch elements or replacing equipment), etc.
To prevent damage to the vehicle's chassis, the following operating rules must be followed:
- Overloads are not allowed, it is recommended to comply with the weight indicated in the data sheet;
- It is required to secure cargo properly during transportation.
The braking system must be checked regularly; if dusty, the rubber gaskets are washed and ground. When repairing wheels, it is necessary to take into account the tire pressure, checking the data with the table for modifications. Dimensions of Gazelle with extended base
From the moment of its appearance, the Nizhny Novgorod lorry became a bestseller, but GAZ engineers did not rest on their laurels and prepared a car with an extended wheelbase for a huge army of entrepreneurs. This vehicle was ideal for those carriers who carried light, but voluminous cargo that did not physically fit in the cargo compartment of a standard vehicle. This modification was named GAZ-320202.

For the extended modification, Nizhny Novgorod residents prepared two versions of the platform, 4.2 and 5.1 meters long. Other dimensions of the cargo compartment of long-wheelbase modifications are exactly the same as those of a standard car. Naturally, the useful volume of the cargo compartment has changed:
- For trucks with a platform length of 4.2 meters - 15 m³;
- For trucks with a platform length of 5.1 meters - 18.2 m³.
At the same time, the carrying capacity of the vehicles remained the same - 1.5 tons. That is, now drivers of long wheelbase trucks had to strictly monitor the weight of the loaded goods in order to avoid overloading. This was not always possible, but often greed won and 5 and even 10 tons were loaded into the truck, after which we often encountered vehicles with a frame broken in half or burst springs.

The carrying capacity of the Gazelle is not its only advantage. The modification in question is also distinguished by economical fuel consumption and a high level of maintainability. The standard version allows transporting materials whose length does not exceed three meters. Soon, trucks appeared with a base lengthened by one meter.
In addition, analogues with gas cylinder equipment, as well as versions with all-wheel drive, are available on the market. Vehicles with all driving wheels have even more room for maneuver and have increased cross-country ability, regardless of road surface and weather conditions. When developing the machines in question, manufacturers took into account the nuances of domestic roads, as well as the wishes of users.

Interior tuning
Basically, the Gazelle is needed not for beauty, but for business. Therefore, car owners strive to improve their cars to their advantage. A useful addition is the installation of a security alarm. For a workhorse, an anti-theft system with auto start would be a good idea. Drivers of commercial vehicles need their car to start in the morning without problems in any frost. Autostart will come in handy here.
For the convenience of driving in the cabin, drivers change the steering wheel - with a sports steering wheel, it becomes more convenient for some to control the car. But the convenience is debatable - most likely, many people like the appearance of such a steering wheel.
Original tuning of the Gazelle interior
Many people install beautiful covers on the seats - they look aesthetically pleasing, and the seat upholstery does not get dirty or deteriorate. The seats themselves on the Gazelle are not changed often; they are already quite comfortable. If someone changes, they install only one driver’s “seat” - from some cool foreign car, or a sports-type seat (for example, “Recaro”).

Next, let's look at what these modifications have in common. Onboard Gazelles differ in engine brands, power, and additional equipment. The carrying capacity and appearance of these vehicles remains virtually unchanged, except for minor differences.
It’s worth starting with the number of seats in the cabin, of which there are three. Most cars have similar dimensions of the body and loading area. The main gear of the truck is of a hypoid configuration, the steering structure is represented by a “screw-ball nut” type mechanism. The speakers are equipped with a pair of hinges and have a hydraulic booster. Clutch type - single-disc hydraulically driven. Suspension unit - springs.
The UMZ-4216 gasoline engine has a multi-point fuel supply. The diesel analogue of Cummins is equipped with the original Common Rail system. Both power units have microprocessor-type ignition. The power of the first version is 106.8 horsepower, while the diesel engine has 120 horsepower. The volumes of the units are 2890 and 2800 cubic centimeters, respectively. What can it be equipped with? Analogs
A gazelle with a body is the most common option that is produced at the factory. Taking into account the possibility of dismantling the body, the vehicle can be equipped with other equipment and perform various tasks based on the configuration. It could be:

Story
The need for a compact truck was dictated by new market relations that were actively developing in the country in the early 1990s. The constant increase in the number of small cargo transportation led to a sharp increase in demand for small commercial vehicles, which the Russian automotive industry could not satisfy. There was simply no affordable and high-quality product on the market. The GAZ group was the first to respond to the emerging need by introducing the GAZelle line. The empty niche was supposed to be filled with a very interesting development - the GAZ 3302 light-duty truck.
The appearance of a fundamentally new model in 1994 changed the mechanism of intercity and urban transportation, significantly simplifying it. The technical characteristics of the GAZ 3302 ensured rapid growth and broad opportunities. The new design principle became a turning point in the understanding of cargo transportation, and the model itself became one of the most popular on the Russian market for many years.
The design of the GAZ 3302 could hardly be called stunning. The streamlined cabin is simple in shape without any interesting elements. The model received a standard appearance and was initially equipped with an old-fashioned radiator grille, complemented by rectangular headlights. The developers' priority was functionality.
In the summer of 1995, the Gorky Automobile Plant produced a small series of all-wheel drive GAZ 33027 with a dual-pitch rear tire and permanent all-wheel drive. The modification was intended to work in difficult areas and on dirt roads.
In 2002, an extended version of the GAZ 330202 appeared, initially equipped exclusively with tow truck platforms and auto bench bodies. Subsequently, standard add-ons began to be installed on it. Modifications with increased length made it possible to partially close the niche between the Valdai and GAZelle models.
In 2003, the GAZ 3302 series underwent a minor restyling, which made the design more attractive.
We had to wait 7 years for the next update. Global modernization led to a name change. The car became known as “GAZelle-Business”. The developers borrowed the cabin design from the Ford Transit model, which had a positive effect on the level of comfort and attractiveness. The interior space of the GAZelle-Business has increased (3 people could easily fit in the cabin). Visibility has also improved. At the same time, the Gorky Automobile Plant did not refuse to produce the first modification with a more affordable price.
In 2011, production of a 2-ton model with a reinforced rear axle began.
Back in 1995, the development of a gas-cylinder version of the GAZ 33205 for the CIS countries began, but large-scale production of the model was postponed several times. The car entered production only in the spring of 2010. Previously, all gasified modifications of GAZelle were equipped with gas cylinder equipment through small specialized companies for individual orders. At the same time, the consumer lost the factory warranty, which negatively affected the demand for this model.
