The history of GAZ trucks begins back in 1932, when the newly built automobile plant began producing the GAZ AA lorry.

This is what an early modification of the GAZ AAZ truck looks like. The model was based on the American prototype Ford AA, but immediately the Nizhny Novgorod designers made their own changes, and the Russian car had its own, unique outlines. The flagship of the second generation of trucks of the Gorky plant was the GAZ 51, which the Gorky people became produce after the end of the Great Patriotic War. “Fifty-First” has a long history; its production continued until 1975, that is, almost 30 years. The GAZ 53, a third-generation truck, was produced in various modifications, exported to other countries, and used in the Armed Forces for more than 30 years.

The classic flatbed truck GAZ 3307, which replaced it, the GAZ 3307, is still rolling off the assembly line, only in various modifications. GAZ always keeps up with the times - the car plant's designers are constantly looking for new technical solutions. And the result of the plant workers’ work was not long in coming - in 2014, production of a new, already fifth generation of trucks begins. Gazelle family

A new model of the Gazelle Next car. It is impossible not to mention the series of light-duty vehicles of the LCV class (commercial vehicles). "Gazelle" appeared in 1994, and today have become popular not only in Russia, but throughout the world. The Interbrand network of companies recognized the Gazelle family as the strongest brand among Russian cars. The representative of the latest generation, Gazelle Next, is considered one of the most successful projects not only of the Gorky Automobile Plant, but of the entire automotive industry in Russia.

SUVs

SUVs stand in a separate class - these are the GAZ 69 passenger car, and the well-known GAZ 66 and GAZ 3308 “Sadko” all-terrain vehicles. The cross-country ability of the Shishiga (GAZ 66) is legendary - the all-terrain vehicle is deservedly considered the most “passable” car in Russia.

Cars

GAZ passenger cars are also extremely popular, and the GAZ Pobeda and Volga models will forever remain in the history of Russia. But if “Pobeda” was produced by the automobile plant for a relatively short time, then the production of “Volga” in various modifications is estimated at more than one decade. For more than fifty years, there has not been any kind of “Volga” on the assembly line - starting with GAZ 21 and ending with “Volga Cyber”. GAZ also produced luxury cars - ZIM and Chaika were used in high government circles.

The GAZ Chaika passenger car was used for travel by top Soviet officials. One can only regret that the passenger conveyor at the Gorky Automobile Plant currently does not produce “passenger cars” of its own design; only foreign Volkswagen and Skoda models are assembled on the line. But I would like to hope that the situation will change, and GAZ will again delight us with new developments of passenger cars.
